Avoid at all cost
Review: 1 Star – Avoid this garage
I would strongly advise against using this garage for anything. My experience was an absolute nightmare of incompetence and poor customer service.
The Issue: I brought my car in for a specific fault which appeared virtually immediately after purchase from this garage. It took five separate visits, and they still couldn't fix it.
The Result: After wasting a significant amount of time and money with them, I took the car to a Mercedes dealer. They diagnosed and fixed the issue in 15 minutes.
Lack of Care: During one visit, they kept my car for two days to "find the error." Not only did they fail, but they didn't even have the courtesy to top up the fluids or provide any basic level of service despite the inconvenience they caused.
Management & Attitude: The Service Manager, Dave, was incredibly rude on the phone. Instead of being professional about their inability to find the fault, he spoke to us as if we were "idiots."
Despite their claims of having "highly skilled technicians who can fix any fault," they were completely out of their depth. Save your time, your money—go somewhere else.

My wife bought a silver Kia Sportage from this company last year. We were told the car had received a full service before collection — this was not true. It had only been given an interim service, which they still stamped in the service book.
The very next day we had to take the car back. I was told to drive around the back of an industrial estate to collect a courtesy car — which itself had only one brake light and one headlight working. That alone says a lot about the level of care they put into vehicles.
The reason for returning our car was the braking: it was absolutely horrendous. The whole car shook violently when braking, and at speeds over 70mph the steering wheel rattled badly.
A few weeks later, even more serious issues came to light:
The timing belt was almost perished, along with a pulley
Brake pads were practically non-existent
The oil smelled terrible, clearly overdue for replacement
This is a take-the-money-and-run company. They sell cars that are unsafe and leave you to deal with the consequences. In my opinion, this vehicle could easily have caused a serious accident.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
Avoid
Avoid! Service hasn’t been done as unused parts left in my van. Laminated piece of paper is not a proof of service!!!
Purchased a white BMW X5
Purchased a white BMW X5 in March.
Continued issues to which I had to return the car for days or weeks. Making the journey from somerset to Cornwall. I also put a deposit on the X5 which at the time had 2 brand new Pirelli tyres on the front. One was swapped for a cheap budget tyre without my knowledge or consent prior to me collecting the Car.
The issues were EGR issues, Ad blue issues and consuming a worrying amount of oil.
The 3rd time the engine management light appeared for the same issues, I took matters into my own hands. On investigation it was found the car had been massively tampered with in previous ownership leading to engine strain, turbo failure and not running to its full potential. Various important components had been turned off via the ECU and the job not completed properly.
I returned the car at the beginning of August and made BM motors aware of the issues and even sent video footage. We were spoken to rudely by the mechanic who had tried sorting the issues. His main concern was the investigation I had done privately was measured in Millibar, avoiding the fact the car had been back and forth for the same issues and no permanent fix.
I was offered a refund £2000 less than what I paid for it to cover the mileage I had done. The 700 miles returning the car for the same issues under warranty wasn’t taken into consideration. The X5 was then listed for sale again for the same price I’d paid for it after being told they would make a loss.
The X5 was sold 5 days later and I can assure you the works needed have not been completed.
To top this awful experience off. Nearly a month later after returning the X5 I have received a speeding fine because the car hasn’t been taken out of my name. Even though it was sold 5 days after being returned.
Rude sales staff
Rude sales staff, got an immediate bad feeling after my first interaction. Was then kept waiting ages just to get the keys to view a car. Was then kept waiting ages to hand the keys back despite being stood 3 metres away from the guy who kept chatting to someone else. In the meantime I could hear them having a discussion with another customer whose recently purchased car had broken down, I chose that moment to walk out and never go back. Reading the reviews below it looks like I dodged a bullet.
Dreadful customer service
Dreadful customer service and gave me false information regarding a car I was interested in. They seem to have this high and mighty attitude because they have a few expensive cars on site!
I went to Ocean BMW instead and was treated amazingly well.
Pleasure to deal with
I recently contacted Graham from BM automotive in Saltash about a Range Rover Autobiography that my husband and i were interested in purchasing. We were very happy with what we were told about the car and decided to put down a deposit. Our circumstances changed a couple of days later and we had to withdraw from the sale. Graham was very understanding and refunded our deposit without any difficulties. Thank you Graham!
Top class service
I genuinely can’t believe the negative reviews on here! Me and my business partner have purchased several vans from these guys over the years and nothing is ever to much trouble from point of sale down to aftercare!
I had a few issues with one of my vans and the team was so accommodating and got me back on the road within 24 hours, when buying a USED vehicle, no garage in the land can guarantee you won’t ever have an issue.
With the exception of Adam and Graham
With the exception of Adam and Graham. Manuf and Sales Manager Mike are rude, un polite and un helpful. My Range Rover Autobiography I brought at Xmas for £18k has broken down 3 times whilst driving nearly causing accidents, I was left to recover it to the garage myself with no courtesy car or what car I had had a illegal front screen or warning lights on. Mike is the most obnoxious, cocky rude individual and was not helpful and even told me they make their profits and money hoping the car is ok till after the 3 month warranty period is up. I constantly had to keep chasing them and even got told by Mike don’t keep phoning. I they had my Car and My Money for 2 weeks and were reluctant to hand it over and when I finally did get it £720 short of £18k for mileage use😂 Manuf and Mike didn’t even have the Balls to come and see me at the showroom today just hid in the workshop. THINK TWICE ABOUT BUYING ANYTHING FROM THESE JOKERS. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DONT GIVE A SHITE AFTER!!!!
No way to do business
Spoke to sales very helpful told they don't hold cars or take deposits to hold a car (i couldnt go until the following day ). My husband went to view the car after work as apparently these cars go quick. We decided to buy the car so he went to put a deposit down and they wouldn't let him so he said he would pay for the car in full but bizarrely they also wouldn't let him do this !! They said they were holding it (which they told me they wouldn't do ) fpr a friend of the boss to come and see it first but "he always messes about so if he doesn't want it you can have it " !!! Absolutely no way would i then buy from them terrible customer service. I have since sorted my situation out with another garage who told me I have had a lucky escape and told me more horror stories about this garage . I'm pleased to say the bosses mate didn't buy the car and it's still in the website .... shame .
Untrustworthy, terrible customer service and by all accounts dodgy cars according to other reviews.
I would give zero stars if i could
I would give zero stars if i could. Daughter bought an Audi Q5, oil pressure lights coming on after a few weeks, took it back numerous times and not fixed, paid to have work done elsewhere. Then the car failed completely, seized turbo and extensive damage to engine. Luckily didn’t happen on motorway with her children in the car and waited until she got back on a short journey thank goodness. Contacted finance company previously and garage lied to them denying ever been brought back. Car had to be scrapped for £1300 and £7000 finance had to be paid off first. Only had it for a year before it failed completely. Absolutely disgusting company, please do not ever buy a car from this bunch of crooks.
Just go and check them out 🤟
Popped in for a look on Saturday was greeted by the boss who was just so accommodating and knowledgeable!
By the Monday we had purchased a Ford Tourneo!
Fab service by the boss and Adam! Don't be put off by the older reviews, these lads look after you and are so accommodating to chopping and changing bits on the vans etc to suit your style.
Very affordable prices, lovely lads not pushy at all!! Honest and reliable business all round. Go check them out 🤟
Fantastic Experience with Adam at BM…
Fantastic Experience with Adam at BM Motors
I visited BM Motors last week and was thoroughly impressed with the excellent customer service provided by Adam. His friendly and approachable manner really stood out—it's refreshing to find someone in sales who isn't pushy. There's nothing worse than feeling pressured when making such an important decision, and Adam struck the perfect balance of being helpful and informative without overstepping.
His knowledge of the vehicles was impressive, and he took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly. If you're in the market for a car, I highly recommend paying Adam at BM Motors a visit. You'll be in great hands!
Excellent Dealership
“I recently bought a van unseen from BM Motors Saltash, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The team provided great service, keeping me informed and making the process seamless. After collection, I noticed a small issue, but they quickly and efficiently resolved it without any hassle. The van is exactly as described and in excellent condition. Highly recommend BM Motors Saltash for their trustworthy service and quality vehicles!”
x class pick up
Not VERY Happy Paid a lot of money for this pick up truck has been poorly painted in parts with over spray been coverd up on closer inspection i have booked the truck in for full inspection and report spoken to my solicitor who adviced to get the inspection done with in the three month waranty so if need be the vehicle can be legally returned
I actually give zero stars
I actually give zero stars, like the zero given by the owner when it comes to after sales problems. Nice cars on the forecourt, nice sales staff, nice service reception staff. Appalling owner and appalling service when there’s a problem. Car returned filthy inside, no response to a written complaint, warranty not fit for purpose, have spent thousands in repairs during first 12 months of ownership
Bought a pick up from them a few weeks…
Bought a pick up from them a few weeks ago. Second vehicle I’ve purchased from them and it’ll be the last.
Bodged the horn to get it through mot rather than replace the steering wheel squib which is clearly faulty despite them telling me it isn’t (I’m an ex vehicle technician), so I knew something was amiss.
Trailer electrics have been botched meaning they need replacing. Asked them to fix this. Was told they don’t do this kind of work.
Took months to get a logbook. Was told they had applied and dvla have cashed the cheque. Clearly a lie because the form was returned to me, as they hadn’t filled it out correctly and lo and behold, the cheque came back too.
Both salesman are liars. When spoke to the boss to complain, the race card came out and I was told to not return.
That won’t be a problem. Race doesn’t matter, customer service does.
Clearly a shady business man making his money behind the scenes.
A shame for a lovely town like Saltash
Buyer beware
Buyer beware! Was lied to, told my car needed a new part but the part was no longer made so they would have to buy a refurbished part. Quick search online and that was a lie. New part was just more expensive. When requesting a test drive told by one salesperson my car had just been taken to London by his boss who said how much he enjoyed driving it and that the car had a flat battery and a soft tyre by the other as it hadn’t been used for a while. Communication is very poor following purchase. My car was bought back after multiple issues and considerable cost to me and despite my providing them with a report of the issues diagnosed by a specialist the car was back on sale within 24 hours. No way are those issues fixed as the car parts would have needed ordering and then replacing. So, I suspect the light has just been turned off. Pity the next owner of that car. Also don’t trust their own MOT tests. Mine had an advisory for expensive perished tyres but when they sold it to me with an advisory free MOT the tyres were still cracked and should have been noted. I’m afraid these people give car sales a bad name and reputation.
Faulty Vehicles
Bought a Mercedes A-class from BM motors a few years ago. Had multiple issues , my local mechanic stated he had never known a car to have this many issues. Car broke down multiple times. A family member also recently purchased a vehicle from BM motors and has experienced multiple issues.
I don't understand the negative reviews…
I don't understand the negative reviews below. It is most definitley not a reflection of my experience.
At a time in my life when things are not great in terms of health and wealth, the guys at BM could not have been more obliging.
My wife's little Peugeot had finally reached its expiry date and had to be retired to the breakers yard.
We needed to find something that would serve as a vehicle to see us into retirement, but, with a minimal budget. After days sat trawling through the vast numbers of listings for used cars within 100 miles, I found what seemed to be the perfect solution at BM.
A quick phone call to them, to ensure that they had not sold it, led to us going to the showroom.
Instantly, I was coloured impressed by the standard of presentation this establishment exhibited. Their salesman, Graham, is an extrremely likeable and honest man. After a quick test drive and a brief chat, we bought the car. The following day I got a phone call from Graham to say that thecar had been MOT'd and the fault that was indicated on the dash light during the test drive had been rectified. That afternoon, the wife and I collected the car.
It is a lovely VW Golf estate (2010) with only 55K miles on it.
A few days later, it developed a fault, which admittedly should not have happened. The car, at this point was not safe to drive, but it was not the end of the world! Within 1 hour, one of their mechanics had driven a courtesy car to me and took the Golf away. The following afternoon, it was returned to me, accompanied by the business owner himself. Fault rectified and fuelled up by way of apology.
Later on a drive down the A38, at speed, the car developed a slight steering shudder. Again they were totally apologetic, and when I took the car to the showroom, the following day, their mechanic, gary (another very pleasant man) came weith me on a short drive to establish the cause. Immediately, he detected that there indeed was a problem but within 1 hour, this was rectified ( wheel balance and tracking).
Now, I agree that none of these issues shoulud havbe arisen, however, I'm also not stupid enough to overlook the fact that it is a 13 year old vehicle and mistakes can be made. It is only because of these faults, that I have not awarded them a 5 star review and there is no provision here, that I can see, to award them 4.8.
If this had been a brand new or 2 year olds vehicle, my comments may well be different. But given that there is ample scope for pre purchase inspection by the buyer I can't honestly, complain too much.
I'm no sycophant and I don't have any affiliation with this company. If I was dissatisfied, I would say so.
Would I recommend them?......... 100%
Thank you BM Motors.
