BMW accessories Paniers cost too much but low quality

Hi, i own a 2021 BMW F900XR (and 1200RT) and decided to order set of 2 side white Paniers and a spare key fob.
1. key arrived first and was explained it comes pre configured to work from factory. i picked it up that evening on way back from work but went back very next day. it did not work.
Dealership needed bike and active key to set it up. i spent 3.5 hours back and forth and wait time to get this working.
2. few days later got call that paniers arrived. i was told this is simple install and all harware is included in the box. it was verified. i pick up 2 boxes that evening and bring back home.
On weekend i spent 2 hours to try put them on. called dealership, they asked me to bring them back.
spent time at dealership to put them on with techincian. finally after spending hours together could not put them on. we looked up online and finally found out that hardware that came with it was not correct.
i was told replacement was to be ordered but when i received call to come pick up. i was asked to pay 122 dollars additionally. and that this was not replacement but addional part.
i try to reason but there was no room for discussion. it was implied that it is known that BMW parts system was like that and they would not do replace but client pays.
I paid. it took hours to do final install which was loosey goosey and not perfect fit to reflect a $1600 product installation.
3. overall cost was over $1600 for 2 paniers and 1 key fob (with 20% new year promotion discount).
4. 1 week later and one trip to napa, california.. water leaked into 1 Panier excessively. there was puddle of water inside from driving in rain on the trip.
brought it back to dealership and left paniers with them for good.
at this point i dont want paniers with so much trouble and time into it. i find it sub standard material. improper loosey goosey fit. very expensive additional hardware for 2 plastic pieces costing me 120 after discount.
overall very dissatisfied with this products elongated experience from order to install to missing hw to paying for addional part and then this quality issue.
please recommend what should i do? they are offering me a fix for it or new panier basically. i dont want to spend more time into this now and asking for the refund.

Shocking shipping and customer service

Ordered a part Saturday 10th Feb, firstly shipping said £8, by the time I got to the checkout, suddenly that had risen to £19. I naively thought 'well, BMW are a quality brand, you're paying for that'. The extortionate shipping then said 3-5 working days. As I placed the order on a Saturday morning, I am aware that's probably not a working day. Mine days later still no sign. It's finally changed on the website to 'shipped' but that's about it. I've emailed customer service twice and been ignored. I'm still waiting. I regularly order items from other motorbike shops and never have an issue. I love my BMW bike but I will never order from BMW again.

Top marks to BMW Motorrad Recovery…

Top marks to BMW Motorrad Recovery Service. My battery was low and I couldn't start the bike. The recovery technician arrived within an hour and a half. The problem was resolved (at least for now). I was impressed with the quick response. Whilst I am at it can I give a commendation to BMW Motorrad North Oxford. I am always happy with their servicing of my bike.

The BMW Motorrad Center down in…

The BMW Motorrad Center down in Tunbridge Wells (Arden) is possibly the most abysmal franchise in the UK along with BMW UK in general.

Firstly Arden were simply unreachable, despite calls, online forms and emails which went on for weeks. They couldn’t do 2 running in services in Spring 2022 and offered 8 weeks as a wait time and explained I should be thankful to even get that. Needless to say I’ve not used any servicing at all from BMW and use specialist independents.

This time around I received a letter from BMW UK for a safety recall on our foot pegs, in the letter it states it’s a simply ‘while you wait’ fix. Once again it’s impossible to get any department on the phone or email to book the bikes in and get them rectified.

We are paying customers who receive absolutely no after-sales support. It’s a safety recall, these centres should be contactable and items rectified as soon as possible. When will BMW UK take the reviews of Arden Motorrad seriously and actually do something. As it stands I will never purchase or recommend BMW Motorrad, whilst the sales experience is good because they want you to offload cash, everything post-sale is extremely lacking.

Dreadful BMW Motorrad Customer Services

It’s taken more than a year for BMW Motorrad to honour its promise to update my BMW R1250 GSA with an adaptive LED headlight unit. Despite a years worth of phone call and email messages I was constantly fobbed off by Customer Services. It’s been a terrible experience. Be warned once BMW has your cash you are on your own!

Again great service from bowker…

Again great service from bowker motorrad in Preston. The morning I was due to leave for France my GS developed a ABS fault. The service team got me in straight away and found the front sensor damaged, possibly as a result of the independent tyre fitter refitting the wheel badly. They sorted it for a fantastic price and got me on my way. Also picked up a heated vest in their 40% sale which was nice for France in November! Master technician, Liam I think, deserves a shout out for his service too.

Balmer Lawn Brockenhurst - worst experience

Balmer Lawn Brockenhurst - very poor customer service. Messages left never returned. If you complain the manager will say you are abusing staff. Not swearing and shouting complaining just complaining. He then shook my hand and tried to crush it. When I asked "what was that" he shouted at me F off.

Very poor service in BMW Motorrad…

Very poor service in BMW Motorrad Bristol Dick Lovett and the same with UK Motorrad Customer Service.
They took my bike for 9 weeks during the summertime to change one cable which was under warranty and each week was an answer: "We don't know when the bike will be ready, we can't help"
The same story with Motorrad customer service.

They say that you get what you pay for

They say that you get what you pay for. I own an older, pre-owned BMW motorcycle and this time, decided to keep servicing it at the dealers, despite being capable to it myself. It’s just the quality of finish and fine tuned electronics/suspension/engine, deserve better than my “Clarkson hammer”. I’ve never been disappointed with the service. You see, the issue with the independent garages is that you will never know what was exactly done, if it was needed to be done, what components and parts they used and if it was done to the manufacturer’s specs. And that’s a fact. Of course there are some great independent garages, but they’re not all that cheap either. Yes, BMW services are expensive (I wish they charge less for the oil, for example), but you will get a video from the inspection and a report. You are also treated the same way regardless of owning the newest GS or RT or a 10 years old commuter. They do know that while sitting there waiting (free great coffees, chocolates and biscuits), you might be tempted to take a test bike for a spin (£35 or so) and maybe use their financial services to upgrade. They have some great discount schemes and the whole noob to a rider package. I’d definitely take advantage of those if my credit score wasn’t broken beyond the repair. Maybe there’s a dealership’s manager who wanted to be a guarantor on my loan? :D so, yep, if you can’t afford a new bike, look at their approved range of second-hand motorcycles. I used that scheme twice and each time got a pristine bike that required ZERO maintenance but some chain lube. Even if you’re buying an older bike, you still get the same warranty, often also a booklet of discount vouchers and an option to pay for the years of servicing up front, which in turn, it will be much cheaper overall and protects you from the inflation. Personally, I used two dealerships - Vines in Surrey and Wollaston in Northampton. Both great, with super attentive and helpful stuff, trustworthy workshops and good amenities. Both went above and beyond to help and I’ve never had any issues with serviced bikes. Now, I only miss the times when the computer wound not say no to my finance application, but that’s another story.

I recently bought a used approved BMW S1000R from BMW Preston. Really impressed with the 1st class service from start to finish, I also got a great price for my trade in. Grant Tipping looked after me from test ride to purchase and finally collection. Throughout, Grant was knowledgeable and professional. I will definitely be a returning customer to BMW Motorrad Preston.Thank you.

BMW put your hard earned money elsewhere

BMW Motorrad projects an image of a company deeply committed to its customers, prioritising top-notch products and unparalleled aftercare services that set it apart from the competition. This portrayal holds true right up until the moment they secure your payment. Once the transaction is complete the money is in the bank, the reality can be quite different.

Their customer support, which initially seems impeccable, could put even the most notorious call centres in India to shame. However, when dealing with dealers, the façade crumbles and their lack of concern becomes evident. When it's time to consider a trade-in, it's disheartening to witness the lack of care they exhibit. It's understandable that dealers, or in BMW's case, "dealers-turned-stealers," need to generate revenue. Yet, the stark contrast becomes apparent when their trade-in offers fall an astonishing £4,000 below those of the competition. Sorry for wanting to buy a new bike from you.

This situation raises questions about the logic behind their approach. While profitability is a given, the disparity between their claims and actions becomes glaringly evident when such significant discrepancies arise.

Overall, BMW Motorrad's initial image may align with its customer-centric rhetoric, but it's disheartening to discover a disconnect between its promises and the experiences customers encounter post-transaction.

In short a genuinley untrustworthy company with a dealer network that will rip you off when its time to trade in and a finance arm that are totally useless when you try to speak to them.

2019 1250GS paint bubbling

Had a 2019 1250GS, very little use and only in the dry, never in the winter. Decided to sell due to lack of use and noticed the engine paint had started to bubble. Closer inspection and was all around the cylinder to the block joint. Bike has now gone and so has any faith in BMW. Awful quality.

My BMW 1200gs enduro had its rear…

My BMW 1200gs enduro had its rear suspension fail at 19,000 miles. They should last 50 - 100k miles. Contacted my local motorrad dealer who asked bmw motorrad if there was any possibility of good will. Bmw motorrad said no. I contacted their customer service and after weeks of waiting got the same response. Don't buy their GS adventure bikes - major parts fail early and bmw don't care.
