We are an accommodation provider in Shetland. We do not have many car hire company choices on the island. However I highly recommend Bolts for their excellent customer service. I always get instant replies when acquiring quotes for our guests. And their prices are good value for remote island car hire.
We had hired a Mercedes A Class 5 door via Avis and paid £244-75 for 3 days
We were given a 2 door Kia and gold by Bolts it was the same class as a Mercedes A Class in their view and on complaining were given a Skoda and then charged £105 extra.
Bolts are a rip off and completely unscrupulous. They are ripping off tourists and should be treated with extreme caution when goring a car in Shetland. Utterly awful
These are simply the best. So helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I made an enquiry about an old reservation yesterday and by this morning they had responded. I've been hiring from them for 10 years - superb service.
Just pay and go without any fuss. No pushing to upgrade cars, insurance, deposits etc. Other companies please note that this is the way to do it. Really friendly and efficient. Took less than 5 minutes to get the keys and be on our way. 100% recommended.
We took a last minute trip to the Shetlands. We visited Bolt's Car Hire and received the cheapest and most simplest car hire process. We paid for the car hire and we were off....the whole process took about 3 minutes. No pushing to upgrade cars or insurance and ridiculous deposits other companies take. I wish everyone took a leaf out of their book. Really friendly and efficient. 100% recommend, I wish they were available on the mainland!
