Disgraceful Service – Avoid Bottomline Marine

Disgraceful Service – Avoid Bottomline Marine at all costs. My experience has been a masterclass in how not to treat customers.
After initial delays and poor communication, my package was finally sent, only to be lost by Royal Mail. While delivery issues happen, the response from the owner, Dean, has been pathetic. As soon as I requested that he initiate a compensation claim for the lost item, he completely ghosted me.
I have tried reaching out across multiple platforms, but he has gone silent rather than taking action regarding for the lost shipment. It is unprofessional, dishonest, and incredibly frustrating. Save yourself the headache and take your money elsewhere.

Hard to contact

Have used this company through eBay without issue but also through their website and found them terrible at supplying parts impossible to get reply to emails & hard to get on phone.. This review sent in frustration in trying to contact company (now July & still waiting for paid for parts ordered in March) would not recommend only buy through eBay as some comeback with eBay protection policy..

I paid for the order #147728

I paid for the order #147728, but there was not any form to specify a delivery address. After paymant I got the automatic confirmation mail with order number. But how can they deliver without knowing address? I started to write requests on their mails, but no any answer for almost a week. Also I tried to call them, but number is always busy. They are scammers, I think I should call police.

I placed order for 2 hoses/pipes and…

I placed order for 2 hoses/pipes and received only one.
The box included an altered invoice with the original pricing. When I produced the real/original invoice, I was confronted with caustic hate mail and lies. This company runs on the principles of bait and switch scamming, Beware!

AVOID if you may have to return an item.

I ordered parts for servicing my boat engine. The system said the parts were in stock so I ordered with shipping expected before I travelled to my boat. Once I paid I received an email which said the parts were not in stock. I would not have ordered had I known of this delay in shipping.

Once received, 2 of the items were not correct. I returned them in accordance with their returns policy. After 6 weeks, 4 emails (all unacknowledged or replied to) and phones later still no refund. On phoning they say thet are 'too busy' and to email!

One of the best shops out there

I have to admit I am very confused about the negative feedback for Bottom Line Marine on here as Dean couldn't have been more helpful. But then I noticed that at least three of the negative comments found online were all by the same guy and he was advertising another shop at times. Though I do wonder if he realizes his name showed up on the second account he used to post a second bad feedback. hmmm very fishy ! pardon the pun lol.
Anyways he went above and beyond to help us out and we couldn't have asked for a better service or communication from him. We ordered an outboard Engine which he luckily had in stock, and every where else had at least a month or two ETA for stock. He then allowed me to have it collected by a courier and took the time to make sure everything was wrapped and secure for transport. He even wired the cables up for us to make things easier once it was delivered. He has been exceptionally fast on supply and replying to any queries I have had and I truly have found him to be one of the best places for responding vs shops on the mainland UK. Other shops im still actually waiting on replies from my original enquiries about the Engine. I appreciate that a lot of shops during covid had stock and manufacturing issues but that was all shops. But what I have read just doesn't sound right from my own experiences of this shop and Dean. I just wished he was on the Isle of Skye instead of the Isle of Man :). Please give him a try and judge for yourselves though. But I can certainly vouch for him from my own experiences as Dean has gone way above and beyond for us. Thanks Dean :)

Dreadful service

Dreadful service
I ordered a fuel pump diaphragm on October 6 th 2021. I paid direct. Two weeks later rang again, stocktaking cannot help. Understandable. Rang a month later, still stocktaking. Rang early Jan / Feb about 8 times on 0800 number, no answer. Got through eventually and cancelled order as sourced diaphragm elsewhere. Promised refund. Never happened. Rang again a few weeks later, got through but person out on road, promised to ring back, never did. Rang again 0800 number, no answer. Tried emailing, no response. In desperation went through eBay. Quick response asking for eBay number. Replied that I had not bought it through eBay could they refund me through my bank account. No answer. Wrote to the MD in desperation afortnight ago giving my bank details asking for a refund. No response . I am sorry the company is unable to deal satisfactorily with this simple request.
Still no response. I am disappointed. I will be very happy to delete my review once my refund arrives. I am glad there are positive reviews also as it gives me hope.
At the time of writing 27 June still no response from Bottom line. I will keep posting regularly until I get one. Dean has my details, phone letter and email. If not he can put a note here.
Still no response at 27/8/22. They have my money, no refund no correspondence. I will never deal with them again. I am still willing to take down my review if they respond. I cannot understand their attitude.

The best marine engineering company on the Isle of Man

From what I've experienced this is the best marine engineering firm on the Isle of Man. At least the only one that knows what they're taking about. Dean really knows his stuff. Pretty sure he could fix anything. The online shop also beats UK mainland on price and after-sale service. Wouldn't use anyone else.

Do not use

That’s a company should not be allowed to trade. They take your money quick and don’t care. I’m awaiting parts that never turned up, they never answer the phone.

Bottomline Marine

Bottomline Marine. Gave them my outboard engine back in the Spring as it was not pumping cooling water properly and asked them to fix it. They reckoned they would be able to look at by the following weekend and would give me a call. No call. Left it several weeks and phoned to ask about progress - they had been mad busy and would get around to it soon. Another few weeks, sent an email - no reply. More weeks, gave them a ring - taking on unit next door as a dedicated workshop which would be ready in 3 weeks. Called down today to ask why they still had my engine after 7 months? They are busy dealing with new winter stock and could I wait a second. Went to follow the man into the warehouse and got chased out because of COVID restrictions. Gentleman came out a few seconds later carrying an outboard and asked if I recognised it? I did and he handed it to me; and I asked if it was fixed - no. He then shut the door, locked it and walked away! Would I give them an outboard to fix again, definitely not; but you could say they are good at storing outboards (even if you didn't actually ask them to!).

This company do not deserve one star

This company do not deserve one star. They took money from my neighbour for a boat engine 2 months ago and have promised deliveries that have never happened and refunds that again do not happen.
I have personally spoken to the guy who got very aggressive and decided he was unwell and unable to do anything until next week hmmm?
Unfortunately we are now having to involve solicitors and trading standards to get some sort of refund.
I would steer very clear of this company.

Ordered a Yanmar service kit never received it.

Ordered Yanmar parts. It was never delivered as they sent it to the wrong address (their mistake). Mistakes happen and I tried to reasonably resolve this with the company to be met first with rudeness and hostility and later with unresponsiveness.

When I tried to phone when emails were unanswered I was told they were 'too busy' to deal with it and they put the phone down on me and didn't call back. Claims made about tracking it through the courier were never followed up on and I had to resolve it via the credit card company.

Plenty of other places to buy these standard parts from without the rudeness and hassle of dealing with a company that blames it's customers for it's own mistakes.

I can't relate any of the information in your review to a sale we have made.
I deal with all telephone enquiries and this just doesn't ring true at all.
I can't think of anything that has been sent to the wrong address in recent history, and I'm certainly not hostile or rude on the phone. Also, we haven't had a credit card charge-back recently.
I would love to get to the bottom of this because at the moment it sounds like a total fabrication.

My order has been delivered

My order has been delivered. I was worried I will not lie, however If it were a doggy biz I’d still be waiting. This is a genuine small business. Quite overwhelmed with orders and probably not having cutting edge IT systems. Add the current demand and flakey lead times from imported parts it is never going to challenge Amazon Prime. But I feel us boaters need these little guys, It seems to be run by well meaning boating people who will take time to talk to you, understand and help you.
Downside is that like me boaters want stuff quick. And now stock is not easy to get, If thats the case try F4 Chandlers. Bottomline are going up in my estimation. Spread your spend and give these little guys a chance.
Allow extra time and know you won’t get updates every step of the order. But they are not crooks.
