I placed an order for gaskets for my Yamnar 3GM 30 on the Friday afternoon and received them the following morning via Royal Mail.
The member of the company I spoke to was knowledgable and very helpful.
Overall an excellent service thank you

Awesome service

As a boat owner with a Yanmar engine I am hugely appreciative of the range of spares held by Bottomlinemarine; and by their super-efficient website; competitive pricing; and seriously prompt turn-round of orders. I needed some items for my annual engine service - order placed late PM Thursday, delivered early AM Saturday (same week!). Go, the team - you're awesome!

Tin of paint missing from my order

Tin of paint missing from my order, wrong size spark plug with the tip missing. I phoned several times and asked for the paint to be sent out and also to request a vat receipt and was told it would all be sorted out but a week later and nothing! I won't give up but won't be buying off them again.

It does state in the item description for the paint (in bright red writing) "Although this product is available for sale online, it can only be collected locally in person".

Please see the link:

https://www.bottomlinemarine.com/prod_cat/P_international-toplac--mediterranean-white--750ml_9390.shtml

You ordered it anyway despite this and expected free delivery to the highlands of Scotland! I always try to help whenever possible, so I placed the order to go directly to you from International Paints in the UK. (at no additional cost to you). The paint is on back order as it is currently out of stock at International and will be sent out as soon as they manufacture a new batch.

The spark plug you ordered is part number DPR6EA-9. It has a small terminal. The description even states 'SMALL TERMINAL'. this part number always has a small terminal. Nothing is missing, you simply ordered the wrong one.

Please see the link:

You are welcome to send it back and order the correct one. You probably need part number DPR6EB-9 which has a large terminal.

I don't send out VAT receipts until the order is complete to allow for refunds if an item is cancelled or cannot be supplied.

I have spoken to you several times on the phone and explained about the paint and the VAT reciept but you didn't mention the spark plug until this review!

I can only assume that like many people, the stress of the looming threat of Covid and shortages caused by Brexit have negatively affected your patience, judgment and attitude.

It's a shame that you chose to take your frustrations out on us in this way but we won't hold it against you and will continue trying to help you to the best of our ability.

Repeat Happy Customer

I've been a happy customer of Bottomline for 5 years, who have kept me supplied with Yanmar parts for my 3GM30. I brought my boat up to date and Bottomline supplied a B&G chart plotter and Raymarine Autopilot, they now keep a good supply of Chandlery items and they supplied the International Antifoul and even the special thinners, trays and rollers for my Winter maintenance.
I also replaced my Yanmar Saildrive Diaphragm this year and engine mounts, Dean had to order these parts but made sure we obtained the correct ones as I hadn't even realised there were different grades of damping. The parts took about a week to come and I was advised as soon as they arrived. Great company I will continue to use for my boating needs.

Avoid

Like other reviewers found this company appalling. Ordered Yamaha parts on line and received confirmation email indicating despatch within one day and delivery up to five days later. Weeks later no delivery. All emails ignored and very difficult to get hold of anybody by phone. Finally got a gentleman, I use the term loosely, who indicated our parts where probably somewhere in the shop but they were short staffed. Still no clear indication given of when I could expect them. He blamed brexit delaying delivery from abroad. There was no indication on line that these items were not in stock. I pointed out he knew all these things when he promised 1 day despatch and up to 5 days delivery. He accused me of calling him a liar and offered to refund my money and find the parts soon and I agreed to wait 1 week longer. Called a week later and he pretended not to know who I was, turns out he had cancelled the order!
The bottom line is there is something ugly at the heart of this company. There are far better run companies to obtain Yamaha spares from; BHG delivered on time and kept us up to date with delays during this same period.

I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience. I'm afraid there are supply chain issues at the moment caused by Brexit and Covid-19. We do try to keep as fully stocked possible but inevitably there will be some items that have much longer lead times.

The website does indicate 'in stock', 'last few remaining', '7 days to dispatch' or 'out of stock' and is usually very accurate.

We are a very small family company and I'm the only person that deals with enquiries so you can only have been talking to me. You have chosen to stay anonymous so I can't say it was you for sure but I have only had one call of this nature recently. If it was you, you were extremely angry from outset of the call and despite my best efforts at diplomacy, I failed to calm you down. To put it kindly, your version of events was decidedly embellished and you seemed to be determined to continue to be upset no matter what. I'm not fond of being verbally abused so a refund seemed like the best solution under the circumstances.

I've got tens of thousands of happy customers for whom I have done my level best to offer the highest standard of service to for over 30 years. Most of my customers have found me by word of mouth. I don't usually ask my customers for reviews, so it's a shame that it mainly seems to be the disgruntled customers that tend to go out of their way leave them.

Sincerely,
Dean Bolton

Unreliable - avoid.

Avoid this company. I ordered 5 items for my Yanmar 3GM engine over 3 months ago and am still waiting for two hoses to be delivered despite repeated chasers by email and phone. They promise updates and callbacks but never deliver. Not to be trusted.

Bottomline Marine, IOM, a bunch of crooks!

I'm a yacht owner, recently I tried to order parts for my inboard Yanmar engine from Bottomline Marine. I paid via Paypal and got immediate confirmation of my order with automatic paypal message to my inbox.
The trouble is the email stated "seller has not given any despatch details". After two days waiting for my order and no further update on status of my order, I tried to email Bottomline directly, no response. I tried to call, no answer. Finally not knowing if all the staff at Bottomline had been struck down with Covid-19/ gone bust/whatever I reordered the same parts from another retailer and applied for refund from Bottomline. They finally get back to me via paypal messaging to say order has been despatched! The other retailers order arrived first so used their parts. I told Bottomline I'd be sending them their stuff back, they said no problem if all in original sealed packaging and within 30 day refund period I'd get refund. Trouble is I did not send back via tracked postage, now it appears they are disputing having received my parcel.
Moral of the story, dont trust Bottomline Marine. I should have known, based on the Isle of Man seems they are a bunch of crooks!

Huge service from a small business.

Great, friendly and personal service. Having been disappointed by the intransigent attitude of a major UK company (Machinemart). I decided to cancel my order with Machinemart and try a small business.

Dean at Bottomline took the time to discuss the product I was ordering (a Loncin 3500i generator) and was very knowledgable about it.

Despite atrocious weather nationally, and this company being based in the Isle of Man my order arrive within 2 working days. What was even better...... they beat the Machinemart price and gave FREE delivery

Great service and 'can-do' attiftude. Will be turning to these guys for future business. Highly recommend them.
