Very efficient process for booking and then good directions for finding the house. Very nice owner who lived next door and dealt with a couple of minor issues quickly and without fuss. Lovely house with comfortable beds and a very nice living space. Lots of walks in the woods around the house.

Unfortunately everything is done via an app that you have to download to view your stay which I didnt like as I had to do separate emails to ask questions. The house we stayed in was Birkenbaud which was lovely but did NOT have any first aid kits and the sofa in the lounge was the worst thing I have ever sat in it is about 2 inches from the ground so with my lower back pain I had to roll on to my knees then pull myself up from the ground, my husband had to sit on an upright armchair the only one in the lounge as he has a hernia and could have popped it out on that sofa.

My husband and I stayed at New England Lodge with my parents and our dog for one week over the Christmas holidays, and we truly had an amazing time. The house is very spacious, bright, and stylish, and it had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
The location is wonderfully peaceful, surrounded by trees, with a river nearby, making it an ideal place to unwind. At the same time, a large supermarket is just a short drive away, and there are many beautiful spots in the area for hiking and beach walks.
We especially appreciated how friendly and welcoming the owner was. We highly recommend this property and hope to return one day. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Compton House was absolutely perfect for our New Year stay. The house was spacious, nicely decorated and provided luxurious accommodation. Specifically the kitchen was fabulous - so well equipped! Liaising with the owner was a pleasure.

Brilliant experience with Boutique Retreats. Great selection of properties that were easy to search, very easy to book, lots of information given and the retreat itself surpassed our expectations.

We stayed at Watermark in Tuckenhay and couldn't rate the place or the setup from Boutique Retreats highly enough. Beautifully furnished and equipped house, great information in the guide.

Despite claims to offer 'luxury’ properties we found their claim to have a rather low bar. Our stay was not bad and mostly enjoyable, but too much having to ‘make do’. We have experienced luxury, and this was not. The beds were large and firm enough and the sofas although low were fine. The kitchen was well supplied but lacked basic condiments you find in most rentals. Our cottage was reasonably comfortable, but really tired in places; the front room carpet was threadbare, full of holes, and possibly infested. The paths and steps around the property were dirty, slimy and a real hazard. We discovered that directly outside the property was an access road meaning our dog could not just roam around. The lack of external lighting combined with the slip hazards required real caution. There was a wood fired hot tub but it was too far from the cottage and up a set of very slippery steps. On inspection this was empty, dirty and full of leaves. The owner said he would sort but it was left to us to clean and fill. This cottage was a three bedroom sleeping six but incredibly had ONE shower and in the only en-suite. The shower itself had very low water pressure. We were a party of four and it was awkward. With six it would have been totally unacceptable. The living room wood burner had a basket of wood, and the owner told us there was additional wood in the outhouse. We used some of this and received a surcharge of £10. Real luxury? A plain glass tumbler was cracked, happy to pay but £7 seemed excessive. Paying nearly £2k for a week you expect a level of indulgence, not paying extra for a few logs or having to clean the hot tub out. The owner divulged they were looking at selling up and this may explain the tiredness and lack of attention to detail. We had a great week out and about despite these issues but we certainly would not use Boutique Retreats or this property again. I also strongly distrust companies that only post positive reviews on their site.

We stayed at Akin in Devon, which was the second time we booked with Boutique Retreats. The booking process is easy, the staff very helpful and responsive, and the retreat was wonderful. The arrival guide they send a few weeks in advance is really helpful and well put together. We will definitely use Boutique Retreats again next time we plan a vacation in the UK.

We booked Esperance through Boutique Retreats for our honeymoon after having to cancel our trip abroad due to health reasons. Sadly, the experience has been extremely disappointing and not at all reflective of the “boutique” standard advertised.

The most serious issue was that the property had no hot water for the entirety of our stay. This made the cabin completely unfit for purpose — we couldn’t shower or wash properly and had to boil kettles just to wash our faces. For a company that presents itself as high-end, this is unacceptable.

On top of that, the cleanliness and presentation fell far short of expectations: mould in the shower, filthy shower seals, unclean skirting boards and doors, marks on the walls, and tatty welcome books. The kitchen looked nothing like the “luxury” version portrayed in the photos. Despite explaining that this was our honeymoon, there was no welcome or acknowledgement at all, which only added to the disappointment.

When we raised these issues, the initial refund offer from the owner was minimal. It then became clear that Boutique Retreats are not the actual management company, which left us stuck trying to deal with three separate parties — the owner, Boutique Retreats, and the local management company. This has made the complaints process slow, confusing, and stressful. Even after days of chasing, we are still fighting to get the balance of the refund owed.

Overall, for a booking that cost around £1,000, the property and the service we received were nowhere near acceptable. I have stayed in far better, cleaner, and genuinely luxurious properties on Airbnb for half the price. Boutique Retreats’ marketing is misleading, their handling of complaints has been poor, and their promises of “boutique” and “luxury” are not matched in reality.

Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend Boutique Retreats.

Just had the absolute pleasure of a weekend at The Mizzle. All of the ladies at Boutique Retreats were so helpful and friendly and the whole booking procedure was a breeze. The property itself was beyond our expectations - spacious, clean and extremely well equipped. We needed for nothing, from a lovely welcome pack to phone chargers, it had everything! Thank you for the experience, we would love to stay again and highly recommend.

Boutique Retreats exceeded our expectations with Almond Cottage located in the heart of beautiful Bakewell in Derbyshire. It has been decorated so tastefully with soothing heritage colours. The bedroom was exceptionally comfortable and a really luxurious bathroom. A really super little outdoor area, ideal for us dog owners.

We stayed with Boutique Retreats in the Cotswolds - amazing service , we would highly recommend Boutique retreats and have used their houses 4 times so far , houses are even better than the photos and exceptionally clean !

We stayed at Pelagos in St Ives and had the best experience! The booking process and communication with Boutique Retreats was great, the property was simply stunning! Location and design are beautiful, furniture and appliances are high quality, the layout is perfect. The house was impeccably clean and was stocked up for the arrival with a selection of very nice snacks, jam, coffee, water, milk, clotted cream etc etc. Very nice touch!!!

Chalklands was a wonderful solution for relaxation and quality time and fun with the family.
The house was BEAUTIFUL and had everything you could need, enhanced with amazing views over the countryside.
Boutique Retreats made it so easy to book our stay and provided very detailed information prior to our arrival.

We’ve used BR a few times now and are always pleased with the standard of the rentals and welcome hampers. Places although not cheap have always been clean and beautifully presented.

What an amazing cottage. So pretty, comfortable and everything we needed for the perfect holiday. The picture window
over looking the water was fantastic, so tranquil. Great to see otters and heron, sadly didn’t see the seals. It was peaceful, relaxing and just perfect. Only complaint we had to leave!
