Frustration with Britbox lack of customer service

We really like Britbox programming but...
if you are having issues with your subscription there is seemingly no way to make human contact with anyone. Frustration is unavoidable with their ineffective chatbot.
So I paid for a month subscription and i cannot access the service.

BritBox was amazing when I joined but now there is absolutely nothing worth viewing and when they introduced the upgrade it’s been even worse, having to wait week by week or not be able to watch what you fancy (I.e My Family and other animals) without upgrading.
Sadly my renewal came out 2 days ago, but I will not be renewing next year unless they desperately change.
Get your act together BritBox, people are not happy

We have been regular subscribers

We have been regular subscribers for a long time and are now really considering cancelling and walking away. It is not what it used to be and lacks new content or original programming. The new premium tier is a joke. Not sure what changed recently but the juice ain't worth the squeeze.

Stay away, very glitchy, no support

Subscribed about a month ago. Everything was fine for the first 7-10 days but since then have had HUGE buffering problems (not my router or my device since everything else works fine). Their "solutions" don't work and they won't issue a refund. I told them I was going to leave bad reviews and they didn't care.

Extortion Disguised as a Subscription

I subscribed to BritBox as a premium service, expecting full access to its content library. Instead, some shows are now withheld or moved behind additional restrictions. That feels like paying ransom for content that should already be included. If you advertise a premium subscription, viewers should get premium access - period. This change seriously undermines trust and value.

Good service became a pathetic rip-off

Britbox used to be worthwhile but now it is a shadow of its former self. A lot of popular shows have simply vanished, and if you want to see anything new (their definition of that is sometimes 2013) you have to go to a premier subscription. I now find I watch far more British content on each of PBS, Amazon Prime and Netflix singly than Britbox. It seems that you either have to go Premier or you're wasting your money. As soon as I can be bothered working out how to unsubscribe I'll be doing that. Pathetic.

This frigging concept of yours to have…

This frigging concept of yours to have people pay more for their subscription is a complete debacle.
Let's be honest, things are going up everywhere with everything.
However it is so ludicrous to expect your loyal subscribers to not just pay more for their monthly subscription but you honestly want us to pay for an entire year ?
Why not just increase the monthly rate a few dollars ?
Bet if I paid for a year and I cancel my subscription, I will never see a refund.
Well I emphatically refuse to pay for a year on any platform or streaming service !!!!! Period !!!!!
You have technically shot yourselves in the proverbial foot.
Look at the reviews.
They are abysmal.
The lowest rating of any streaming service and there are worse out there.
It's just difficult to comprehend.
You have alienated me to the point of canceling my membership.
If only you had charged around $3.00 or $4.00 more for monthly subscription.
This is a massacre you created yourselves.

Policy issues and SErvice suck

We enjoy British drama shows, so we thought we would subscribe. On New Years Day we paid $85 for an annual subscription. Watched one show for 1 hour before dinner. When we came back in the early evening, we could not get any service. It continue this way all evening. There is no customer support in the U.S. to help us or explain the problem. We emailed customer support in Britain, and heard nothing. We wanted to cancel and get credited only to find out there is no such thing. RIPOFF Alert! the next day we got an email saying they had a technical problem, however, we realized that this is not a service we want to continue with. Finally had to dispute it and the credit card company gave us a credit. Now we realize that the reviews should have been our warning.

Premier access is a scam – don’t believe it

BritBox put out a great big campaign to get people to buy into their new premier access service. It promised early access to full new seasons of popular shows. Early on there were a few shows that they did do that - they put out the whole season. But then all of a sudden they continue to-call it premier access, but you only get week by week access to each episode. Right there on the screen by the show it says Premier Access. But then as you click on each episode it will show you that the second episode is a week later the third episode is the next week etc. etc. but they’re only putting them out one a week. Well, that’s the same access I had before I upgraded - for a lot less money. I repeatedly contacted them about it. Their answers are vague or they don’t answer at all and it’s probably a bot anyway. And if you want cancel and go back to the normal plan-they clearly indicate that you’re canceled but you get no refunds and you still have access until your year is up to what’s basically the normal regular BritBox plan. This is a great big spam and as far as I’m concerned, it’s fraud! They promised early access to full new season of popular shows, and with the exception of 1 or 2 they’re all coming out just as they were before they started calling it premier access-and you were paying a lot less money for it.

Basically I bought I rug and it was pulled from underneath me... Treating customers poorly and suddenly not allowing them to see content unless they pay more with prices already going up its become a disappointing experience. I used to love Britbox. I hope shows take their content elsewhere like to Acorn. Shame on Britbox. basically there's nothing to watch, and the shows you already used to watch all costs more now. No one has replied back to me except for a bot. The amount is not worth the already small inventory bad buffering and bad navigation and site that is not user friendly.

Bye-bye BritBox - too scammy for me!

I've been a subscriber for a couple of years now, only to find that there is now a PREMIUM feature. Shows that I used to be able to access under my yearly membership are now available for an additional $50 charge.
When I contacted BritBox they didn't seem to grasp that I signed up for a service that they are no longer delivering - basically changing the rules without notice. I had enough, so I cancelled. Not an easy task to start with - plus I had to call additional times to get my credit cards details removed from their system.

Great shows but a shitty experience. Not worth it for me, so I'm going back to Acorn.

So Britbox just pulled a huge scam

So Britbox just pulled a huge scam. Pushed season 3 of Blue Lights. Watched episodes 1-5. Final episode 6 not available unless you join their premium $149 service. Big Scam.

BritBox used to be good now it’s just a money, grabbing entity, looking for more money my restricting access unless you have BritBox plus. I’m sick of this as I am dumping them to go to a site that will at least respect my money and not try and empty my pockets.

Don't sign up for a one year plan

Please don't sign up like I did. I signed up for a one-year plan, and after one month, I wanted to cancel. The shows we started watching were good, but after one or two seasons, they wanted us to upgrade to a premium plan. This is the old bait and switch. Stay away. The show isn't all that good. Sad.

Can't believe that they now charge to see content early that should be available to those who have subscribed to their service. Very disappointed to be treated that way after being a subscriber for quite some time. Have cancelled my subscription and won't be back.

Just say no to premium upgrade.

I have been a subscriber of BritBox for at least seven years, maybe even more, and I have never had a problem with it and have always enjoyed the shows that I watch, but I gave them one star today because if the implementation if their premium upgrade subscription that is restricting me from being able to see shows because I’m not able to pay $149. a yea. This is afternoon am increase a month ago. I am totally insulted by this. I think what I’m going to do is cancel BritBox and come back in six months. I don’t know whose idea this was, but it was not a good one. Bad form, BritBox.

Started watching a new show called…Playing Nice

Started watching a new show called Playing Nice and got really into it. After the 2nd episode Britbox said we would have to upgrade to premium to watch the last 2 episodes. No prior warning that it would cost extra ie $149.99 a year to upgrade. I’m fuming and will most likely just cancel Britbox
