No refund for unused annual subscription when you cancel BritBox
If you decide to cancel your annual BritBox subscription, they won’t refund the unused portion of your annual subscription. This is pure theft! BritBox should ENCOURAGE annual subscriptions, not rip people off by not refunding unused portions.
Constant “Service Not Available” Program Interruptions
Keep getting buffering and “service not available”when watching programs. It happens a lot even during watching a single show. Did all the steps that the BritBox bot directed, and the problem persists. It does not happen on other apps. I love the programs on BritBox, but they are hard to watch with the constant interruptions. I plan to cancel.
Freeze
Freeze, freeze, freeze! Every single time. Not possible to watch more than max 2 minutes. And they take money for it. They should pay me money for using it.

No 5.1 and No Subtitle Override
First, I noticed that audio was not encoded 5.1 (Dolby or DTS). Tried multiple shows, all are stereo and goes into Dolby ProLogic decoding. Checked with tech support and was told that 5.1 was not yet available, not even for new releases. Incredible! Even my 20 year old satellite receiver does 5.1 … come on BritBox, get with it!
Second, after their last version update subtitles settings can no longer be controlled by the streaming box (Apple TV or Roku). Subtitle settings for all other streamers (Netflix, Prime, Acorn, Apple tv+ Disney) can be overridden by streamer box settings, but not BritBox. Their text size is too large, but there is no way to reduce it within their settings on my Apple TV 4k, and they don't allow the streamer box to override their settings, so there is no solution. Please BritBox, please allow streamer box settings to override your app, like every other streamer.

I cancelled my subscription in Sept. and just recently discovered tBritBox is still charging my VISA. You can't trust this company!!!

Britbox is the gold standard for the best Brit TV!
I admit to being puzzled by so many negative reviews of Britbox. Yes, sometimes I find the user interface a little cumbersome compared to other streaming services, but the content, to me, is stellar and well worth the subscription price. In other words, I wouldn't part with it. Some of my most beloved series are available there, even older series such as those based on Agatha Christie novels (Poirot and Marple spring to mind). There is also Death in Paradise, and other more current programming. For me.. it's a matter of "what's not to like about it?"
Some good, but really old!
Britbox has some good shows on it, but it's getting really old. I've been a subscriber for many years and they keep pushing "new" shows via my email when they are not "new" at all, they've been on Britbox for years, many or most of them I've watched on Britbox decades ago. Yet still they tout these as "new" when there're not. It's getting to that time to drop the subscription as they are just pushing all this old stuff and not replenishing the stock with anything new. I know there are great new shows in the UK (The Brit in Britbox) but they are just not investing and are just trying to squeeze the last few $'s out of the old, old stock! Bad business model for sure.

I love Brit Box content but I absolutely hate Bb and their customer service. The worst ever!
I signed up for BB a few years back and after I cancelled my subscription they continued to charge my credit card. I was hell getting my money back.
Stupidity I subscribed again on November 1 of 2023. I canceled the auto renew at the time I signed up by in checking the auto renew box. November 1 2024 my subscription ended. But after getting my credit card statement I noticed they collect payment anyway. Remember I have no access to BB content and I keep getting a message that I have to sign up for a subscription.
I called BB numerous times and never got an answer. I tried to do the online chat a few times and nobody ever answered. Today I was intending on sending an email when I started a person (Kharen V) opened a chat. OMG it took well over an hour! And she just kept insisting there was no way to turn off auto renew and I still had access to content. I think she turned the subscription back on cuz after following her instruction I can now watch content.
The point is I intended for the auto renew to stop and they took my money anyway!! I have again cancelled my subscription and have made copies of my cancellation receipt.
I truly believe they purposely ignore people’s cancellation request and there should be a class action lawsuit against them.
I will never again sign up for BritBox no matter how much I like their content.
Antiquated "Service," Mediocre Programs, Useless Chat
The shows I haven't been able to see here in the USA that are on BritBox are ok - not great - but - worse - I find your site very difficult to navigate on my TVs unless I want to adhere to the strict chronological order of programs and nothing else, there is no going back to re-watch a show or find a show among many in a long series. I especially do not like the sign-in process using the remote I have to use from Comcast cable TV, very difficult to type in all the characters for my email & password, especially if I have to do it repeatedly (per your "chat" service which is bizarre). Tonight, your site on my TVs was not available without my entering my sign-in info and the Chat Lady expected me to change my password to make YOUR system easier to use (ha!) which will not I repeat WILL NOT make entering anything into your system any easier using the remote that goes with the Comcast system I use. As that is all the "help" I'm going to get, me, a paying customer, then I decided to CANCEL. Very disappointing.

I also was a 1 star critic, because of the price, without ads, I hung in, experiencing all the same things those listed here, big fan of poirot, Lovejoy, Morse, all their seasons not seen elsewhere. I was apparently lucky, albeit many frustrating hours loading /unloading britbox app, I've discovered many more shows like touch of frost,, taggart, crime story, yes I like these type, unlike one who claimed only kind available, not true, also has similar crap that's on Netflix etc, paying 20 bucks without ads, I'm happy at present, hope they don't screw it up, toes also crossed
It's okay if not great for a month or two
It's okay if not great for a month or two special and then its time to do something else than watching the tele.
Service seems to brake down a lot here in Canada, even though we live in a big world class city.
Shows buffering and freezing
We have a Samsung TV and the shows keeps freezing and buffering. Called the customer service and the answer was they are having issues with Samsung TVs. They said to keep watching for updates but no time-line as to when it will be.

Britbox offers ordinary stereo sound only. No 5.1 Surround, No Dolby Atmos. Tried to ask their customer service if they had any plans to upgrade, but they don't.
No guide to see what is on Britbox.
When using Britbox on my TV I could not use the A-Z guide to peruse the shows so I used my laptop to see what was on. Now they have taken the guide away from my laptop. Unless one knows what one wants to watch. Britbox is useless.

Absolute scam. I have told Amazon about it…”This video is currently unavailable” on many of the Series eg Vera, Silent Witness, The Bay.
There is something wrong
There is something wrong. I was curious to the different subscriptions and pressed on yearly subscription. I wanted to see if the six month offer would show up again (it didn’t). Then I pressed it back on monthly. And THEN I was billed for a yearly subscription. What a surprise.
And due to the rules, I can’t make a cancelation for next time now, I have to wait six month!
Awful- paid only $55 for a year but…
Awful- paid only $55 for a year but after looking at it, I certainly wish I hadn’t, half the stuff listed that’s on it on the web doesn’t exist, the offerings are limited unless you like crime.
I certainly won’t be renewing as it’s not worth it even at the first subscriber rate. ITVX in the UK had many more offerings than this and that was free.
Not worth $9.99 a month plus taxes
Overpriced for somewhat stale programs - not much to get excited about compared to other streaming channels (Netflix, Prime etc)
