Look elsewhere wouldn’t recommend this company

Honestly I think this company deserves all the bad reviews it has. I called on the 13/2/25 requesting a manual MWB van. Was told they had it in stock and even collection from a London local depot. However on the day of payment for the £1000 deposit they said my van was suddenly unavailable only allowing me to collect a Small Van which was automatic and I had to travel from London to Worthing to collect. Collected the van and 2 days later the van had completely stopped working absolute joke. And completely inconvenienced me regarding my work. Would highly not recommend at this point in time.

Great services, great staff

All services and prices were straight forward, no hidden costs. Staff has responded promptly and deals with everything you need. From rental to insurance, invoicing, contract...they got it all covered. I personally had a Luton van rented for 1 month. The car was valeted just before I picked it, very low mileage and it was in a mint condition mechanical. I would definitely recommend them.

Hi Andrei, we'd love to be able to address this for you, but unfortunately you haven't said the reason the deposit wasn't returned. The only reasons we would not return a deposit is if the vehicle wasn't returned in the condition it was taken or there are outstanding charges for unpaid invoices. If you would be happy to confirm the registration you rented or your full name I'd be happy to confirm why this is the case.

terrible company

terrible company. I rented a van from them. I got a broken one. I returned the van over a year ago and have not received my deposit back. I received a message after a year that I was in arrears because the repair costs were higher than the deposit. I'll report it to the police. this company is a scammer

This is the second review you have left regarding the same incident, why didn't you reply to any of the points I highlighted on your initial review?

You give couriers a bad name because for the 99 good experiences we have there is the 1 like you who is louder than the rest.

I can only be led to assume that you know you damaged the van and are trying to bully a small business into submission by tanking their hard earned reputation rather than be an honourable and good person and accept liability for your actions.

I'm confident any logical and reasonable person would take a second to review the information we have and then stop trying to deny what they have done or better yet just don't lie and try to deceive the rental company in the first place.

I want to share with anybody that is…

I want to share with anybody that is looking to rent a van with this company that there customer service both through email and whatsapp were flawless and all my questions were answered quickly and they were always ready to help, nowadays where every customer service is automatic is a breath of fresh air to have people that care about the service they provide. 5 stars guys!

A bunch of thieves

These people are a bunch of thieves, not only did they not return my deposit, but they also charged me for some supposed damage I did to the vehicle, don't trust them, any other company is better

Firstly, I'm sorry you're unhappy with the services you've received.

We make it our aim to support our drivers as much as possible and would always look to investigate and respond to any grievance our customers have, especially to reduce your damage costs.

To be a fair as possible for all our drivers any damage that has occurred during your hire must be charged to that particular driver and not passed on.

The reason damage charges were issued to you for your vehicle is because in the videos you take and submit between collecting and returning the vehicle, there was a change in the condition of the vehicle.

We would never intentionally charge one of our customers for something that is not their fault.

We would still be happy to review all the evidence with you, as this was an anonymous review we can not reach out to you, but if you get in contact with us to ensure the correct resolution has been reached.

Very BAD! Avoid at all costs!

Yet another narcissistic greedy company. Avoid it at all costs!

Worked with them for 7months, had 5 vans breaking down in this time and when asking them to replace the vans they were asking me to contact the bigger companies they contract the vans from (btw, they only own 1van, they subcontract). How lazy is that. I pay you for a service then you ask me to do your job. This was a constant occurrence with their team members making me lose money over time due to unworkable days, yet at the same time charging me rent for the van that was broken down. So essentially I was paying for a service that they weren’t providing.

Everyone from their 4-5 employees is self absorbed, most of the conversations were arguments, how they can’t help me with a call, or how wrong I am for wanting not to pay for a van I couldn’t use, and constantly asking me to do their jobs instead. How absurd!

They also kept a last week rent that was double paid, arguing that they can’t pay it back, but it’s credited to the account. It is not, read below.

Lately I’ve been waiting to receive my deposit for the past 3 months and nothing. After chasing and chasing for ages I eventually discovered hidden costs that were argued and so they decided to keep my entire deposit for themselves, completely ignoring the extra sum that was already credited to the account.

To add to this, most of my colleagues that have been forced to work with them encountered the same issues, losing all of their deposits and having to pay for services that were not provided!

Update: You guys had the nerve to answer after all of these months. And you more so after stealing my money, have the courage to call me names and play the victim card. And you say you care but took months to answer this review. What an absolute joke!

Overall disgraceful behaviour. You’re all greedy rotten people to the core! I despise you all!

What a shame to see such a cowardly feedback, we do not know who this person is, but clearly not a good fellow.

We can assure you that in our constant attempt to improve as a company and still have each driver at the center of our business we listen to all feedback from our customers.

So we have a mixed fleet of Northgate Vehicle Hire, Hertz and our own Vans. However the drivers are responsible to look after and maintain these vans, working with them to service and repair them locally as part of the terms and conditions agreed in our Hire agreement as we have a National Footprint from our offices in Worthing.

Yes we do take the final weeks rent at the start of the hire as in the past drivers have failed to pay their final week when they give their 7 day notice to return the van, so now they do not have to pay their final week, once they give notice, I can assure you there is no double charge and we only act within the Hire Agreement we made with the driver.

I do not know who this is otherwise we would investigate straight away as its important to us that all deposits are returned when due. We do ask the drivers to wait 45 days as it can take this long for chargeable PCN's to get through the system from our suppliers.

Nobody is forced to work with us, its a individual contract with the driver and us, we have not done any advertising yet but drivers stay with us and even return to us.

Happy for this person to reach out to us and go through all of this with him or her.

I used British fleet services for six…

I used British fleet services for six months, the team were incredibly helpful in finding me a fantastic van to use for my job. They were extremely friendly and professional.
If I ever had a query, all I needed to do was WhatsApp them, and they would respond nearly immediately. I found the rates to be quite competitive compared to other fleet/rental services and their vans were almost new and in very good condition, not to mention spotless and full of fuel/ad-blue when I picked them up.

I was always treated with respect and courtesy by British fleet services, I would not hesitate for a moment to use them again, I cannot recommend them highly enough!

When I returned the van, I was offered a lift by the company director Jason, he is a real gentleman and used his own personal vehicle to get me to the station, thank you so much Jason 👍🏻

Although Desmond no longer works at British Fleet Services we feel the need to clear his name.

We work in an open plan office and at no time has he lied to anyone. He is an Honest and respected man, and this review is unfounded. We all rate him highly!

Everything is fully explained in our hire agreement and this has to be signed before the driver commences any hire with us, we do confirm things verbally with drivers, but we have no need to lie to any of our drivers, ever.

We have hundreds of drivers who have received their full deposit back, as they returned their vans back clean, within agreed mileage, full of fuel, without PCN's and without any new damage.

I was using one of the British fleet vans for work (Amazon) and received a very clean, ready to use van fully filled up tank when I arrived to the site for collection.
Company itself is reliable and consistent with communication which is trustworthy for work purposes. Although you have to provide a deposit at the beginning
One of the amazing team member appointed that drivers only get it back after the van being returned in the same state and condition as it was when originally collected. Overall I was very pleased and more than certain to come back and also recommend to others out there thinking of hiring a van.

No response from office when chasing them up

Anything to keep ur deposit lie about notice when returning van professional business cons although u have evidence of notice via WhatsApp and tx AVOID RENTING FROM THESE currently seeking legal advise to my deposit company is ran from a office with not much response unless they want u to pay for weeks rental

Best customer service ever!!

Best customer service ever! They tried very hard to help on sort out my request which acquired my satisfaction.
At the same time I look after their van to avoid any damage and at the end I got my deposit returned in full.
Definitely will recommend to my friend to rent a van from them!

Had a van from these con artists
Hold on to deposit longer than they should.
Try to charge you for everything.
Do not use this company please
The last week rental they keep weeks after the should have paid it bank.

How disappointing to receive a review like this. Unfortunately, we are still sent PCN's for drivers up to 45 days after the event, so we now do wait to return the full deposit, but only when the van is returned undamaged, Clean, Full of fuel, and within the agreed contracted mileage which is 20K PA. We have returned the deposits to many drivers, some of which have come back to us, proving we are not bad nor in any way attempt to cheat our drivers.
This driver does not understand how our business works otherwise he would not say these things, we care about all our drivers, and we do everything we can to make sure that they are treated fairly in every case. As per our hire agreement which every driver's signs.

Worst rental company i have ever experienced customer service is amazing until you have paid and have the van then you will get no reply until you owe them more money . They have load of scams in there contract what means they charge your a fortune for everything extra . They lie 24/7 and try keep as much as they can of your last week rental and deposit. They lie and say you never gave them notice about handing the van back so when you give them your last week rental and deposit you might as well say bye to the money

Obviously Linked to Mr. David Lewis's poor review which we have replied to above. Clearly, he rented a van for 5 consecutive months, so as we invoice weekly, we had 20 successful invoice payments from him for our services before he gave notice on the van, we can assure him that depending on the status of the van when it was returned to us any monies owed by us will be repaid to him, within the agreed contracted time he signed up to. This in an unfair review.
