Very poor wear from Cashmere socks

The cashmere socks lasted less than a fortnight's wear, then the toe wore through.
Response:"Cashmere is a delicate fibre and with all the best will in the world, heels and toes are areas that receive the most wear, so it would not be unusual for friction to occur and for the socks to wear in the way shown here." I was offered darning yarn. I think I should have had a refund really. My alpaca socks last for years. I won't be buying this expensive item again, sadly. Also, I cannot see a way to review the socks on the Brora site, though perhaps I have not looked properly. All the reviews are 4or 5 star!I will not be buying them again.

Love-hate relationship with Brora

It's a love-hate relationship with Brora: the cashmere blend socks I received as a present were beautiful and wonderfully soft and warm, the only ones not to cut the blood circulation at my ankles. Unfortunately, especially given the price, they only last a few weeks after which all that is left on your foot is a sheer net. And that's in spite of washing them by hand and NEVER wearing them in shoes. They're basically bed socks, I think. Have written to Brora explaining this. I guess it's possible they do not know. And if everyone keeps buying them anyway, as I have, then perhaps it doesn't matter to Brora. I'm hoping they can improve on the durability. It's a shame - they're amazing to wear.

Buffering on payment

I am wanting to buy gifts for newborns and am having difficulty ordering online. I have tried different devices on two different days in case of internet difficulties or devices issues my end. Brora your items are statement pieces you need to re look at your website as it is buffering on delivery options and you are losing out on business. I join the list of messages stating the same issues as others as a way of helping you re visit your online website.

This is purely the website

This is purely the website. Every time I use it I have difficulties and usually end up not ordering. It is ridiculous. The quality of their products is excellent but do they not want us to buy anything. I have about 7 of each item in the basket (when I can get to it) and cannot edit the basket. This is not the first time this has happened to me.

I agree with other reviewers. I have been a Brora customer for years. The website is dreadfully slow and I have not been able to sign into my account for weeks. There is no login option!

The delivery fee for the skirt I…

The delivery fee for the skirt I ordered on January 7 was very steep. At long last, I get confirmation that my shipment has been sent and will arrive the following Monday. Faster and more frequently free shipping can be found at retailers like Boden and Crew. Brora's support is subpar.

Very poor website. Cannot check my order status so just hope it arrives. Various pages won’t load and doesn’t inspire confidence. Really surprised how poor the website is and puts me off ordering in the future.

The website is atrocious

The website is atrocious. Trying to order, click to buy items and nothing in basket which will not open, cannot see my Account, takes ages to load if it loads at all. I have had problems with the Brora website before and know it's not my computer but have spent more time checking it all again, cleared all pop up and other blocks, checked other websites all work, used another browser and tried on both mobile phone and laptop and on wifi and linked to 4G - makes no difference. I see from other feedback that I am not alone in this experience. You would have thought Brora would want to sell its products - maybe not. For goodness sake, sort your IT out or get someone else to do it for you.

Brora needs to improve their online shopping experience to keep up

Brora has not managed to have a fully working website for ages now. Every time I am using it it is slow not very well organised to filter things or even faulty, half the information isn't showing in my browser like the contact page is blank. I even cannot access my account currently to review the status of an order I place yesterday, which, by the way has not shown up as confirmed yet in my email inbox, so I am slightly unsure if the order actually went through. Luckily I have not been charged yet but it is a bit frustrating when you finally made your mind up to go for it and then is radio silent on their end. Can Brora invest in a decent webpage designer and order confirmation system or what ever is required to get the feeling that ordering online is a joy and not a stressful experience, to whether it is gone through or not.

From what was once a loyal customer

Like others, I’ve been a loyal customer, but no more! I have some very good items that I wear year after year. However, it feels like their items are hit and miss. The biggest disappointments being a cotton t-shirt that has holes in the fabric now after a few years of wear (I have others literally more than 15 years old that I’ve worn much more and are still intact). Knickers with liberty print are super uncomfortable I find. And, *the greatest disappointment - their cashmere socks!* I bought a pair which is close to £50. After only a few wears, the socks shedded so much of the cashmere on the heels and along the sole, that they were literally transparent. I contacted them to tell them that and advise that they could improve the product in future - hoping that at least my experience and feedback would be useful for the company, their future products and customers. However, rather than being grateful (not even talking about compensation here, which I would offer for such a lousy product), they were impudent enough to explain (as another user here mentioned) that this is a luxury product and I didn’t take the right care. Sure, if the right care is jot wearing them?! These are socks, they are supposed to be worn. The definition of luxury seems to be “a state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense”. None of it mentions “unusable”. Not to mention that I have other cashmere socks from other brands that I’ve been wearing and caring for for years. Plus, I always used Brora’s cashmere shampoo for Brora’s products.

It’s been some time since, so I peaked into their website to check out what’s going on. But their service and those ridiculous luxurious socks that I’m apparently expected to wear when not walking were such a bad memory that I just can’t see their products the same way anymore.

It’s a shame that because Brora have some good products, rather than learning from mistakes and being grateful for their customers, instead become more arrogant and think they can afford it to be so rude to customers.

Finally, their crappy website - looks like they’ve tried, but can’t believe it’s been such a long time and they still can’t seem to fix basic issues on it.

Poor refund policy

Bought a lovely looking jumper as a Christmas present. Unfortunately, it didn't quite fit and we returned it yesterday. As we didn't find something to exchange it too we expected a refund. Oh no! Items purchased more than 14 calendar days ago do not qualify for a refund. You will get a voucher to be used within 12 months. Poor customer service especially for Christmas period.

Shocking customer service for a faulty item. Will never return!

I was given a pair of their beautiful Liberty knickers for a special Birthday by a friend. They are very expensive! After one wash, the elastic is fraying in several places. I have been trying to send them back, but they are resisting me, by not letting me have a returns label, asking for the order number - hello, they were bought in a shop. Then they asked me for the exact date they were bought, and the receipt! They were a present!! Who puts the receipt in. I was with her when she bought them, so we knew they were the correct size. A reputable company surely wouldn’t make it so hard to return an item which was not fit for purpose!!

Steer clear of this company

Steer clear of this company. I bought a beautifully designed knitwear jumper for my child, at great expense, and the quality is terrible. I have just found a 4th hole in the wool. The stitching just falls apart. I have never known worse quality in a brand.

One star is too many. The customer service at the Cambridge store is astonishingly bad, and the mediocre products certainly do not merit the price tag. I will not be buying from Brora again.

Don’t buy online

Ordered skirt online. Telephoned 5 days later to find when delivery expected to be told they couldn’t even say which week it would be sent out, but of course they debited credit card at time of order. Feel sorry for Brora staff, this is a management and reputational issue. The lesson? Don’t buy Brora online.

Fair Isle in Czech Republic?

The number of Brora jumpers and cardigans I've bought over the years is embarrassingly huge, but I still wear everything, and their cashmere is second to none. But be aware that all their tempting lambswool Fair Isles that are so trendy now are not the real thing. I've just received the navy blue Fair Isle crewneck jumper (Jan. 2022). It is knitted at very loose tension (you can see daylight through it) and the collar rib is sewn on, not knitted into the yoke (this really isn't good). It will stretch out of shape very quickly, and the whole 'feel' of the jumper seems somehow wrong--not a Scottish knit. When looking for the label to see where it's made, I wasn't surprised to see the Czech Republic. At least it's not China. I won't be buying any more of these; there are other shops that offer Fair Isle jumpers and cardigans knitted in Scotland to the familiar standard, and at the same price as Brora. Worth searching these out instead. Brora, look to your Scottish Laurels!!
