Reasonable service, reasonable cost, met my expectations

I paid Brytor to ship a 1 bedroom apartment from the United States to Canada. They provided an initial estimate of $3,100 USD. I paid this before they arrived for the pickup. During the pickup, I asked them to take some extra items that were not in my estimate. I paid an additional $700 USD, which I felt was reasonable. My items arrived in Canada in a few weeks and I completed customs acceptance. One month from the initial pickup, they delivered my items and there was no significant damage.

Avoid, simple as that

We should have read more reviews before we agreed to contract with Brytor, we would have avoided all the misery and extra 'costs' that followed for our trans Atlantic move.
Initial experiences through the planning and packing activities were good. However, the moment they had all of our possessions and we flew out of Canada, the problems started.  We were told the volume of our possessions was 35% higher than estimated driving our costs up in proportion.   We challenged the number, and they could not and would not justify it, they even offered a detailed breakdown of a 10% increase but insisted we pay 35% more.  They refused to discuss and frequently stopped communicating.  1 month after we left, we 'settled' by paying an additional 20% to release our possessions.   We felt like we had paid a ransom demand.  We chose to buy transit insurance but struggled to get any details of what it covered or even confirmation that we were insured, 8 weeks after packing, our container was shipped to the UK.   At this point, we were told that there would be additional costs to deliver our possessions, as the quote assumed a truck could deliver the 40ft container directly to our front door.  We had never been asked about this or had this explained. It was unreasonable to make this assumption, however true to form Brytor accepted no responsibility for the issue and made us pay a large sum of money before they would collect it from the port. It was made clear that if we didn't pay we would be charged storage at the port on a daily rate.  We paid, as we had no choice, and our items were delivered by an inadequate team who constantly complained (too cold, too wet, too much stuff, too heavy etc).  I ended up carrying a lot of the items myself.
We got our stuff eventually, after a slow and painful process, with costs that grew significantly,  no meaningful customer service and very poor communication.   We made a formal complaint afterwards, but unsurprisingly, it was dismissed. Looking at other reviews, we are far from alone, and our experience is far from the worst. Avoid.

Dear Kevin,
We fully understand the difficulties you faced during the delivery, particularly regarding the additional cost due to unforeseen location complexities that led to a necessary change in the initial plan.
While we strive to anticipate all potential obstacles, It is important to note that some additional costs related to difficult access or unforeseen obstacles during the delivery process are ultimately the responsibility of the customer, as stated in our terms and conditions.
We value your feedback and appreciate your understanding.
Sincerely.

Beware Brytor

In my opinion this company (Brytor International Moving) is the most unprofessional organization I have ever dealt with.
On the 26th July 2023 I paid for a door-to-door moving service from Canada to UK.
Brytor picked-up the shipment from storage late, which cost me storage fees in Canada.
Delivery to my storage was scheduled for the 15th Sept 2023 but after the shipping arrived Brytor (via their UK agent) invoiced me for customs fees on 14th Sept, which I paid immediately.
I was then informed that the delivery for the next day (15th Sept) was cancelled and they invoiced me for further shipping charges and threatened me with storage fees if these were not paid!
I refused to pay as Brytor were paid for a door-to-door service but they did not deliver my shipment and they refused to provide a packing list, shipping paperwork and the receipt from customs (HMRC).
They claim I owe fees due to their delivery cancellation but still refuse to honor the contract?
I have paid in-full for door-to-door service and Brytor are in Breach of Contract and hiding behind their "Legal Department" in Canada.
I have paid in-full for shipping, storage in Canada, storage in UK plus customs vat and fees but I have not received my shipment (20ft container) as of today 23rd Dec 2023!
Brytor are members of CAM, IAM and FIDI but have not been held to account by any of these organizations!!!
