Great service on a non standard mortgage for self build property

Terrible from start to finish. I wish i had never come across them.

I was fortuitously passed on the details for Buildstore by a friend. We wanted to refinance one of our development projects at the same time as one of the units was being sold. We had a very limited time period and to be honest I never thought we would complete on the deal in time. However, Michael Cartwright at Buildstore ensured we kept on the right track for the whole process, which was the first time we had done such a refinance. I felt the whole time we all had the same goal in mind. I would definitely use Buildstore again.

I attempted to use Build Loan (a subsidiary of Buildstore) to raise finance for an existing development project.
Quite frankly I was left severely out of pocket when I was already not in a good position, their poor advice left me in limbo with the suggested lender as after I'd signed against the basic loan agreement details, extra requirements were then stipulated which BuildLoan failed to highlight to me as the customer. I'd already paid out circa £1500 in valuation fees, £1k to Buld Loan for the apparent loan offer and then things changed which just left me in a deeper financial hole than I was in originally as I continued on with the project that I had what I thought was an offer on the table.
I can't wait until I'm recovered financially as I shall be talking to a solicitor regarding taking build loan to court for misleading advice!

They have been very helpful and given lots of support to get the right finiances we need for our self build project. I would recommend using this company

Jack was extremely helpful throughout the process of our mortgage arrangements, nothing was ever a problem and no hassle. Very friendly and had a positive attitude.

We wanted to organise a self-build mortgage. The initial conversations were very quick and professional but 2 months later we are still waiting to speak with a mortgage advisor! Lots of appointments have been made and not honoured by them, emails not replied to and no apologies for any of it. It’s the worst mortgage experience I’ve ever come across, consequently the land we were purchasing has now gone to another buyer. Thanks very much build store! Want a self build mortgage, I’d go elsewhere.

Lots of hoops to jump through, but you'd expect that with a new build. Always answered emails quickly.

Spencer Dunn was absolute brilliant, I found him fair but extremely help full and a great guy to talk too

I engaged Buildstore for a remortgage on my house which was originally a self build which was also funded through a Buildstore advisor. The entire experience was amazing from the initial discussions with the financial advisor to all the admin needed to get the loan in place. Everyone at Buildstore was professional, responsible and most important friendly and easy to communicate with. I got replies to any emails same day or next day. If I needed to speak to someone on the phone I was able to get through immediately or if they were not able to pick up I would get a call back same day. If one of the team were going to be on leave they would tell me in advance and make sure someone else had the details to continue to assist. This is the best service I have received on a remortgage and would highly recommend Buildstore to anyone both for self build loans and also general residential mortgages.

Buildloan have been fantastic from start to finish and have made the whole process so much easier than I thought it would be. I can honestly say BuildStore have been brilliant through out ourwhole build and at every stage. We had been let down by another lender for our self-build dream but Build Store took the stress away pretty quickly by re-assuring us that they had a product that can get us the mortgage to build our dream home. We moved quick with our documents as we had everything at the ready and we went from consultation to mortgage approved and ready to go within 4 weeks. Every interaction with Build Store and Newcastle Building Society was positive and super helpful. The stage releases were easy enough once get into the swing of how it works and the surveyors who came out to site to do the valuations remained consistent which meant we got to know them also.

If you want to pursue your self-build dream then Build Store should be the go to company, too many names to mention but every department we spoke to have been great. Huge thanks to everyone involved.

At the beginning the process was extremely slow, getting everything approved and seemed to be asked continuously for the same documents, because data was out of date by the time it was reviewed. A very frustrating period.
Saying that stipulations that were put in place did protect us greatly from being taken advantage of as novice builders.
Once we were passed this process and were with the stage release team, everything was very clear in expectations and milestones, and obtaining the correct drawdowns was a clear process.
