Bunnings has really become a dump

Bunnings has really become a dump, especially after Covid. Always long queues and not enough staff manning cash registers, stock shortages with entire shelving areas that are either empty or in a mess. I recently got jumped by a dog because dogs seems to have more rights these days than people. It’s a shop not a playground…what if the dog jumped a child? It’s no longer a pleasurable shopping experience and I honestly avoid going there unless it’s absolutely necessary. I used to love going there and splurging but I absolutely hate it now.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE at BUNNINGS…

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE at BUNNINGS CASTLE HILL that I have ever experienced this morning between 10:00 - 11:00am, Sunday, 23rd November 2025.
My husband & I went to Bunnings Rouse Hill to buy a corner hinge for our kitchen cabinet, but Rouse Hill didn't have the hinge we wanted. So, after searching in Bunnings website the Rouse Hill gentleman told us that Bunnings Castle Hill had at least 8 or 9 hinges in stock. So, we decided to go to Bunnings Castle Hill. When we got arrived at Bunnings Castle Hill, we tried to find it ourselves but because the store is very big, we just couldn't find it so we approached the first customer services person who was willing to help and explained what we wanted. The customer services person took us where the hinges were, but he could not find the hinge we were looking for. He told us to go to level 2 (aisle# 61) so we did. When we got to level 2, I saw two women in the counter: one lady was talking to I presumed to a customer; and the other lady who was watching the other one work (my impression) which later on I found out the name was Tish. We didn't approach them because they looked busy.

We proceeded to aisle# 61 to look for the hinge, but we couldn't find it ourselves. Whilst my husband was still trying to find the correct hinge, I decided to go to seek help to look for the hinge, after all, we were told by Bunnings Rouse Hill that Bunnings Castle Hill had 8 or 9 hinges in stock. So, not to waste any more time as we were already at the warehouse for at least 20-30 minutes already.

I spotted a customer services person so I went to ask if he could help find the hinge. Well, well, well - the attitude of that person was not what I expected for someone who was working there to help customer who need assistance. He was NOT FRIENDLY, UNINTERESTED to what I had to ask him, he was DISMISSIVE & VERY RUDE to me. He wasn't going to help me until I said to him that if he was working there then helping customer would be part of his job. Interestingly enough though, when he saw my husband, his attitude changed. He became what I call a normal person. He became friendly and talking to my husband with respect. That was when I got very upset. Why was he RUDE to me and not rude to my husband? When I called him out regarding his attitude, instead of apologising, he said angrily - "Urg! I don't have to cope this!", he walked away with anger on his face and when he walked - he walked right at me; if I didn't move out of the way, he would have bumped onto me. The attitude displayed was ABYSMAL, FRIGHTFUL and UNACCEPTABLE.

Unfortunately, I was that upset and forgot to ask for the name, but I can only describe what he looked like. The awful man was very skinny, and he worked with the male customer services person name "Mal".

After the awful performance of that awful man, I decided to complain, so I went to the counter to complain. I asked for the manager and a lady by the name of Tish introduced herself as the manager. I told her that I wanted to complain about the "skinny man" who was awfully rude to me and explained to her what went on. She told me that she would speak to "another manager" who was above her manager. I told her that I would call back to follow up on the incident.

After much reflection, I came to a conclusion that the reason why the man behaved so disgustingly towards me and completely different towards my husband was because the awful man was a "RACIST" and a "CHAUVINIST" person. And I don't want the kind of treatment I received happens to another customer just like me.

I purchased 2 bush roses potted about 2 months ago unfortunately I have lost my receipt but the roses were obviously dying before my purchase as they never progressed from when first purchased. I call into the albury store and was told they appeared to be dead and that I had not looked after them very well. This is untrue as I watered and fertilised them after planting, was told to check Mt bank accountband find the purchase, this would be impossible as i often shop and purchase plenty from bunnings. However I will never purchase any plants from them again.shirley 😭

The banned my ip for no reason minutes before attempting to spend $500

Spent 2 hours building a cart for their website to all of a sudden basically ban my connection. Getting a constant error message. I can get on the website on both a private browser and through the app. So for some reason I my connection is being discriminated against. I'll be going to a Bunnings competitor to drop the 100s off $$ I was about to before they blocked me.

Great Customer Service

The Mentone & Moorabbin stores have excellent customer service. The staff do their utmost to please, special note being Ahmed & Cassidy (Special Order Desk) from the Moorabbin store. Really helpful and making sure my order was fulfilled. Thank you.

Temu quality at Australian prices

I have never purchased power tools or hand tools from Bunnings because they don't stock the good stuff (a certain red US brand) but they have been okay for cheap (as in cheaply made) hardware. I wouldn't buy anything from them for important DIY projects because their quality control is so poor, but simple things like garden stakes, pots, nails, tent pegs, paint, etc they have been okay. When I have used Bunnings, I shop online because I got sick of not being able to find staff members in store and when I did they turned out to have poor product knowledge. My online orders sometimes missed something and some took quite a long time to arrive, but eventually they did turn up. My advice is if you shop at Bunnings don't expect too much and don't be surprised if whatever you bought breaks in a month. Thankfully I now have a local hardware store so I don't need to use Bunnings anymore.

I would have given them 2 stars but they stock Roundup which causes cancer in kids and kills fish and rat baits that kill owls and other native wildlife. So they get 1 star for being a blight on humanity.

Uncalled for harassment by loss security officers at Bunnings

I visited the store this afternoon. I am unwell and hence it took some time for me to gather the things I was after. I noticed two men (Indian) following me around the store. To make sure that this was the case, I went to different aisles to see if they followed me. They did. Due to some personal security reason in my life, I had a panic and anxiety attack in the store. I felt sick. I did not know whether I should call the police. I decided to type a note on my phone and discreetly showed it to a staff member. It turned out the two Indian nationals were working for Bunnings as loss prevention officers. I understand that retail loss is a major issue but to be followed for a prolonged period of time whilst trying to shop is unacceptable. This has had a negative impact on my health. I wonder if somebody actually stole from Bunnings whilst those two idiots were following me. It seems that the loss protection officers (in plain clothes) wants to catch the person stealing. It did not happen with me as I do not shoplift. If they thought my behaviour was suspicious, they could have alerted staff to check my bag when I exited the store. They followed me for more than half an hour. People have different life experiences and being followed by those two Indians could have caused me more serious harm due to the stress, increased anxiety and panic attack. Shame on you Bunnings.

We shall never order online from Bunnings again.

We shall never order online from Bunnings again. I pay an annual fee for One pass which offers free delivery from a number of companies including Bunnings. Yesterday after new difficulties with Bunnings online site we eventually were able to use my one pass or so we thought, and supposedly no need to pay for delivery. Today we were charged a $50 delivery fee.

Imagine adding next day delivery on…

Imagine adding next day delivery on your website and not even shipping the item 4 days later... No nothing... Impossible to get through to them over the phone (1 hr waits but 1 hour = hours)... Their "online support" is useless. I emailed twice on two different occasions no one got back to me. TRASH, DON'T BUY FROM THEM ONLINE.

I hired a carpenter tradesman to…

I hired a carpenter tradesman to renovate our business toilets at UMR Engines. The tradesman gave me an order for materials which I ordered through the internet using Bunnings Slacks Creek, that was Thursday last week. It is now Wednesday the following week and after many hours on the telephone the order still has not arrived. I have had to pay the Tradie to wait around with nothing to continue on with. I have now dismissed him and the Bunnings delivery has still not arrived. I will never recommend Bunnings to anyone and will continue to spread the word. I will be requesting a refund and compensation as this has been a costly exercise.
My prepaid order isw272756736. This is the worst service I have received from any hardware.I Do not recommend Bunnings service and the delivery charges were paid up front. Shame on Bunnings
