The holiday was 7 days of cycling in the Noto Peninsula. But it was so much more than excellent guides, service, food, equipment and cycle routes...more a cultural immersion in rural Japan with multiple encounters with Craftswomen/men Sacred sites. The Ryokans were more beautiful and luxurious as the trip progressed. The lunches were varied and interesting, complete with characters who had become masters in their fields. Small tours and demonstrations were unexpected and marvellous (i don't want to give too much away!) You didn't have to think about a thing - just trust the guides and B&R to deliver the magic....

We have taken over 6 vacations with B and R- they have all been wonderful!

I have travelled with B&R and have experience more than 20 trips. They have all been excellent in every way.

Every time I traveled with Butterfield & Robinson it was never less than an excelent and marvelous experience.

My wife and I recently took B&R's Italian Lakes walking tour. This was our second walking trip with B&R after previously taking 3 bicycling trips. In all cases, the trips have been great with a mix of physical activity, cultural/historical experiences, and exposure to local foods and wines. The Italian Lakes tour included stays in premier hotels in Bellagio, Lugano, and Stresa. All were first rate to say the least. The walking was a mix of villages and natural areas and provided an excellent introduction to the area. The guides were super: both Alice and Ricardo attended to everyone's needs (and wants) and maintained an incredibly positive outlook throughout. The walks were well paced with frequent breaks -- they did require some physical exertion, but were not particularly taxing -- just enough to work up a hunger for the excellent dinners. And this glowing review comes from a trip that included a couple of days of rain -- imagine how outstanding it would be with cooperative weather too!

The trip was fantastic as were the guides. Everything was well organized. Our only complaint was with the last hotel. The staff were not friendly and our room was tiny. I asked in advance if we could pay more for a suite and we were told by B & R there weren't any suites at this hotel. We found out once we arrived that there were in fact suites. All in all a great trip.

My husband & I had such a wonderful time on our Provence trip that we decided to make some life changes so we could do more of these trips. Our guides, Christina & Julie, were awesome as well as the bike riding, accommodations, food, and of course wine. We didn't know any of our fellow travelers prior to the trip but over the week we had so much fun with all of them. There are challenging climbs in Provence but the surrounding beauty from the hilltop villages makes each climb worth it, plus you can eat all the delicious food guilt free!
One trip and we are hooked on this type of travel and with B&R. We depart in 3 weeks for our second B&R trip, biking in Chile...can't wait!
Highly, highly recommend B&R

As I was traveling alone to a place I had never been, I relied heavily on Butterfield & Robinson. They made reservations for me beyond the trip for which I had signed up which I initially thought more expensive than I required. But they were SO right to do so. I really enjoyed every aspect of my trip and was able to actually relax. I truly had no worries! Special praise for my guides. Trip of a lifetime, indeed!

I had high expectations going into our first trip with Butterfield and Robinson. It was a hiking tour in the mountains outside of Milan. The trip exceeded my expectations and was exceptional in aspects. The tour guides were first rate, the sites we visited were outstanding and gave us a range of experiences. We also thoroughly enjoyed our fellow travelers. We will enthusiastically select BR going forward as we explore various parts of the world. We have used numerous companies in the past and BR was clearly the best experience that we have had.

This is hands down the best tour company to use.
