If I could give this a negative amount…
If I could give this a negative amount of stars, I would. I began banking with Bank of Mississippi in 1990. Bank of Mississippi eventually became BancorpSouth and now it is Cadence. Their “customer service” is absolutely horrible!! I am moving money out as we speak into bank accounts at a different bank due to the way I was spoken to a week ago when I called their toll free number. I talked to FOUR people before I ever got semi-close to a resolution. I’ve had to get THREE different debit cards from them in less than 8 months because of attempted fraud, so I was told. Do you know what a nightmare it is having to switch debit card numbers on a bunch of accounts? You probably do, because judging by the reviews, I’m not the only one having problems with this “bank.”
They asked for my address, a recent transaction, and two other pieces of information all four times that I was transferred to different departments. They apparently haven’t been trained in “warm transfers.” Absolutely ridiculous to be completely out of energy from having to repeat 4 pieces of information 4 times in the span of TWENTY NINE minutes on the phone with Cadence Bank. Beyond comprehension and beyond ridiculous!
In addition to my issues, I attempted to get the customer service reps to look in to my son’s account. My son is stationed in the Middle East, as he is in the Army. He had “fraud” on his account, so he had to close his debit card in either late June or early July. It is now August 19. Would you believe that they have had to send him 3 different debit cards in this very lengthy time frame?? Then, they had the audacity to charge HIM a $30 expedited shipping charge!!! Are you kidding me?? Is EVERYONE there totally asleep at the wheel? It isn’t HIS fault that Cadence cannot get themselves together long enough to actually send his debit card to the correct address in a timely manner!
His account of what happened was as follows: he gave the correct address to the Cadence representative and somehow the first debit card went to an entirely different country because they listed the WRONG country in the address. When he called to get a status on the card, Cadence said Fedex was in control of it. He called Cadence back eventually and stated that the card was going to the wrong place because they put the wrong APO address and that automatically made this Cadence representative think the card was lost. He eventually spoke to a 4th representative, which has been within the last couple of weeks and she said the card was not able to be activated because a previous representative thought the card was lost so they automatically sent out a new card. Cadence took $30 out of his account for expedited shipping and yet it was Cadence that messed up because the card he got in the mail a few weeks ago does not even work!
So they are trying to stick it to a 21 year old soldier who is overseas serving his country just to rack up fees. Bravo. What a way to salute those serving your country. He has not been able to access his own money since late June/early July!
I plan to send this in letter format to the bank CEO, Dan Rollins. I also told the bank representatives last Tuesday that this 34 year relationship is quickly going to come to a halt. They did not care in the least bit, as I expected. Do NOT waste your time banking with Cadence Bank. They apparently think they are too big to fail.
Please do not bank with Cadence Bank
Please do not bank with this Bank. Cadence Bank.
Especially with your business.
I received 11 overdraft fees a total of $396 in one day. The account was down due to maintenance and my account was in the positive the next day.
The rearrange fees to insure that you receive fees. This is one way that they make money off of their customers.
I am struggling to keep my business a float.
This bank did not try to help me with not one of those fees.
I have a mortgage and 4 accounts with them.
I will be soon closing everything as soon as I can.
I cried, prayed and begged them to help me and no one did.
I’ve been banking with them for over 15 years. This is heartbreaking and disappointing.
I have been banking with Cadence over 15 years
I have been banking with Cadence / BancorpSouth for over 15 years and never had problems until now for the last 4 months. Deposits on the online app holds your check for 2-4 business days. When I called, they verified me with SS#, DOB, Address, and last transaction. I gave them all correct info and then they wanted to know where and when I opened the bank account and I had city and state right but did not remember the exact date of when I opened the account is it was so long ago. They also wanted my debit card #. This is an extreme overreach, and this is not the first time this has happened since Tupelo, MS had taken over the customer service. When I wanted to talk with a manger to file a complaint, none were available, and they would not give a last name or an id to be able to identify them. But they sure had all my info. I will close my account ASAP. UPDATE: I received 56 emails that my deposit was submitted, extremely unusual for that many notifications.
WARNING
WARNING: Cadence Bank will cancel your homeowner's insurance and raise your premiums without your knowledge. Do not trust them with escrow; handle everything yourself.
I had the unfortunate experience of finding out that in 2023, Cadence Bank cancelled my homeowner's insurance without notifying me and force-placed a more expensive homeowner's insurance policy on my house, which is mortgaged with them. They did not consult me or send any notifications about it—they even confirmed this.
I have definitely learned my lesson to never trust them with handling anything on my behalf and will be paying all insurance and taxes independently. I would highly advise you to never use their escrow services, as they may violate your trust and unfairly take your money like they did with me.
Customer Service S**ks!
The Bank Teller customer service s**ks, first of all. Why don’t Cadence Bank, just pay that lady to leave. She deceive people of their money and that is dangerous and also she doesn’t take care of the customers. If she is always so busy, why wouldn’t she sit at a desk and do paperwork computer work etc. I don’t want no one to loose their job, let’s get that point across. She is in the wrong field, because her people skills are awful! Bank Teller # 201 Cadence Bank 614 Shurling Drive Macon, GA 31211.
Heartless predatory lender
This bank is still using its predatory lending practices, and is the worst bank I’ve ever seen. I had a loan with BancorpSouth 13 years ago. The other borrower took the property. I get a garnishment completely out of the blue that takes 25% of my check. I’m currently a cancer patient and cannot work much, and I can’t afford to lose that much income. The bank officer said that she doesn’t give a s*** and I have to pay or the garnishment stands. Unprofessional and heartless. I can see why they’ve been in trouble before.
I only gave one star because I had to
I only gave one star because I had to, but this is the worst bank I ever had to deal with!!. I have had nothing but problem's from day one.
7 day hold on my CASHIERS CHECK?
I had a cashiers check that I went to cash and was told they had to put a 7 day hold on it...When I protested, the branch manager, mocked me and told me to take it to Walmart if I didn't like it.
I deposited the check....9 days later my money was still not available. I had to call. Then when I went to withdraw money the teller told me that the amount was above the teller limit it would take a branch manager who was still on lunch break at 4pm in the afternoon. This bank is horrible and it's employees are not educated on how a bank operates. I am changing banks as we speak. Do not use this bank. They are horrible
To start off the app is crap and I have…
To start off the app is crap and I have being going to the new bank since it open and I have never once seen or met the manager or assistant manager I guess they never come out of there office which I find weird cause the other cadence banks I have met and talked to the managers they are usually out front helping but not in the new bank at scottsboro Alabama
I have my mortgage with this bank and what a mistake I made
I have my mortgage with this bank and the employees are the most insensitive, unprofessional, incompetent bank I have ever done business with. I have been trying to resolve an issue since November. They need to be investigated for bad business practices. Do not bank with them especially opening a mortgage account.
worst bank I have ever had to deal…
worst bank I have ever had to deal with! Disrespect! Total garbage!
Want to be treated with disrespect? Bank with Cadence
The online/mobile app is worthless. It doesn't update transactions for an entire day, so you don't know how much is in account. The teller suggested i write it down and subtract it. lol...they charge $10 for a cashier's check and won't do it at drive through. The teller at the Temple, Texas, downtown branch treats people like they killed her dog...super unfriendly.
0 stars if I could
0 stars if I could. This bank is pure absolute trash like most banks. Plus people forget banks were originally started by criminals. This one is no exception
DOMESTIC WIRE TRANSFER FAIL
The inability to do a domestic wire transfer without coming into the physical location is ridiculous! My client had a closing on his home today which now has to be postponed after waiting months on a clear to close because someone at CADENCE told him that he would be able to do an online transfer when in fact he cannot. You should not have to postpone a vacation to buy a home or vice versa with all of the technology available to ensure that it is not a fraudulent transaction! In person signature required when docusign exists is not a way to be helpful to your customers. I would never recommend this bank nor their mortgage services if they do not understand that the world has moved past the pen and paper stage. While the customer service reps over the phone as well as the employees in the local branch stated there was nothing they could do....not a single one seemed apologetic or offered any helpful solutions to solve the issue at hand. This is not the type of banking business relationship that I would like in my life and I am sure that my client will surely transfer all of his funds immediately after closing on this home once he is back in town.
Multiple fees for THEIR error
Used BancorpSouth for years. My account is set up to DECLINE if there is not enough money in the account. Since Cadence tool over they allow everything to go through and then charge on EACH overdraft! Scam and sham! Will be changing banks this weekend.
When it was BancorpSouth it was better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been with BancorpSouth, now Cadence Bank, for 22 years. Anytime I had an issue while it was BancorpSouth, it was always handled very easily and smoothly. I recently had a fraudulent charge on my account on July 3rd and called to dispute it. It took several hours just to dispute this charge, that was the first odd thing about this situation. Of course, my card was cut off as I expected, but the guy I spoke with told me to call back if the charge was still showing on my account after I received my new card. I initially thought this was odd, too, because I had never had to do that before. A week later, I received my new card and called to activate it. This was such a bad experience; I could get all the way to the point of putting in the card expiration date only to receive an error saying the info was incorrect. After going through this several times to make sure I wasn't hitting the wrong numbers or anything, I called customer service. I knew what was wrong, the person that inputted my card information into my account put the wrong expiration date. The first person I spoke to made up the excuse that my phone was breaking up and she couldn’t hear me, I knew it wasn't, and just to be sure called my husband and my mother, who has a completely different service provider, and my phone was fine. The second person I spoke to asked several questions and tried to help, but we got nowhere. No one would listen to me about my information being inputted into the system incorrectly. So, I finally went to the local branch, and a lady there called headquarters and, after five hours, finally had my card fixed. When I asked her what the problem was, she said the expiration date was in the system wrong. Go figure.
I say all that to say I called customer service this morning to let them know the charge was still showing on my account, and she told me we're going to have to cut my card off again. I told her that I was NOT going through that again, and this had literally been the worst baking experience I have EVER had. I plan to go back to my local branch this afternoon and will most likely be changing banks today. They really need to have someone thoroughly go through EVERY step of their info line and correct all the issues. I am extremely displeased with Cadence Bank and the service I have received since the transition from BancorpSouth.
Worst Bank Ever
I was a BancorpSouth customer for over 15 years when Cadence took over. I tried to deposit a check via their mobile app over the weekend, just like I have many times in the past, and they have decided it was fraud! I took the check into a branch the first day they were open, and I attempted to deposit that way, in addition to $20 in cash, explaining what had happened. They deducted the entire deposit from my available balance - cash and check. Want to hold a check? Fine, hold it, but don't deduct the amount from the balance already in my account!!! Not only did they deduct the held check amount, but they deducted my CASH deposit too. Moving on to Hancock ASAP. Worst bank ever.
