On collection George was on holiday but we were sorted out by his colleague who gave us everything we needed or requested looked over the car which was presented immaculately! Inside and out. Overall a great experience and would thoroughly recommend using this garage.

Hiden faults

Called them earlier in week to ask about a Hyundai Tucson they had in stock and was told by a salesman that the car was in very good condition and had no faults and we would not be disappointed with it
Myself and my daughter went to look at the car, upon inspection fount it had a leak from one of the injectors the boot wouldn't open and most importantly the thrust bairing was making a noise and you couldn't engage a gear without it grinding, the clutch needs replacing
They sent a gentleman they said was there mechanic out to check it and kept us waiting quite a while
The sales man then returned to us his attitude completely changed and told there was nothing wrong with the car
Didn't offer to have the clutch replaced or offer purhaps a reduction so we could have it replaced just denied it was a problem
I would look elsewhere for your next car perhaps

Never knew buying a car could be such a pleasure and so easy. With all paperwork completed by them. All documents completed and emailed to me. If Calsberg sold cars they would sell them through Canvey Carriage Car Co. Thank you Volty for all your help.

The freelander Metropolis on 64 plate LV64HAA

Hi, we arrived at the showroom at 11am 17/01/2026 we were met by the sales chap Vorty, very pleasant chap! We introduced ourselves, he went to get the keys and left us to examine the car(64 plate Freelander 2 Metropolis Reg LV64HAA) and take it for a test drive. It had been previously agreed for the timing belt & water pump to be change (at 84k no service history since 2018) before viewing. On looking at this, the water pump & timing belt had been done, but not serpentine belt, clearly worn! The body work:- the rear of the vehicle had been poorly sprayed (black) over spray on rear lights clusters, exhaust box, towing eye and part underbody, part of rear body O/S/R had a crease in where bumper met (clearly had rear end damage Cat N or S ? no record) at N/S/R paint had slight bubbling and ripple (body filler?) again, paint work very poor! Front of vehicle had and wing mirrors had been sprayed with runs/orange peel affect & some masking tape left in place. Internally, spare wheel was not original or the tools, all had been cleaned but still looked tired! On test drive, there was roaring noise coming from front N/S/F could be diff unit, drive shaft or bearing! We were advised this was a trade in vehicle (which had issues we were not advised about) and it was up for sale at £11,000 which was allegedly under market price! However, this may be so, but, it will cost a lot to bring it anywhere near market value! So, in very poor condition for the asking price! future buyers be aware if you are a novice at buying a used car

Delt with Jamie

Delt with Jamie. Did something I've never done before: bought a car sight unseen. It was delivered to me in Worcestershire and I had the option of rejecting it and only loose the delivery charge. The car was as described and I was happy to have it and pay in full.

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME

Rang re low mileage car I was keen to purchase. Jamie chatted about the car and said he would ring when the car arrived on site.

Several days later rang for update to be told by arrogant sounding salesman that it had arrived and HE had a viewing on it today!

Asked why I hadn’t been notified he replied in a ‘couldn’t care less attitude’ that Jamie was not working today.

Obviously a company with no shared calendar, notebook/pad, message capability.

Wouldn’t consider buying from a company with such poor customer service.

Just don’t
Like many others on here you may regret it

PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST

I was excited to get the car I saw on line book a test drive, and the car was dirty and still working on seats and boot full of white scratches, Jamie was very pleasant but that's FAKE, found out when it's too late. He said I should leave £200 deposit but if I change my mind it's refundable, didn't sign anything got my receipt. Had an emergency back home so won't be able to buy the car at present, when I call Jamie he said sorry nob refundable car back on the market. It was 3 of us there so how can 3 heard incorrectly? He even go as far as to say don't tax the car until when you pick it up just Incase you change your mind because he gave me the log book and also the postoffice number to check if they will be open because of the Xmas period. He said its on the receipt and told me where to look. This he should have told me before I paid my money I wouldn't be annoyed. Now am seeking legal advice and I won't let it go everyone that had been cheated by them need to see if there is anything you can do. Wish I had read trust pilot before because there chariot page has good reviews so I trusted them. BIG MISTAKE they are criminals

Avoid Canvey Chariots and The Carriage…

Avoid Canvey Chariots and The Carriage Company at all costs – they are truly the worst car dealership and repair company I’ve ever encountered. My experience was one of deceit, empty promises, and blatant lies. I purchased a car from Canvey Chariots, trusting their assurance that it was in excellent condition. Jamie sold me the vehicle, pushing hard for the supposed “great deal” while conveniently overlooking the car’s actual problems.

Within the 90-day warranty period, the car began emitting white smoke and showed serious signs of mechanical issues, including a likely problem with the turbo. Canvey Chariots handed the car over to The Carriage Company for repairs, where I had the misfortune of dealing with Tony. He told me outright lies, claiming there was “no turbo issue,” even though the smoke and performance issues were glaringly obvious. It was painfully clear he had no intention of properly diagnosing or fixing the problem.

The worst part? They somehow managed to pass the MOT, raising serious questions about their integrity and practices. This wasn’t just incompetence; it felt like a complete scam. Tony and Jamie repeatedly downplayed the issues, hoping I’d give up on pursuing repairs. They left me with a faulty car, zero support, and an infuriating sense that they simply didn’t care.

Don’t make the same mistake I did. If you value honesty, reliability, and fair treatment, stay away from Canvey Chariots and The Carriage Company. Their reputation for bad service is well-deserved, and they have no problem selling defective cars and dodging responsibility. Shocking service, dishonest staff, and a complete lack of accountability – save yourself the headache and find a dealership that actually cares about their customers.

Sold an absolute wreck of a car

Sold an absolute wreck of a car. Had nothing but problems. Boot lock was broken on delivery, air conditioning failing within 2 weeks and despite claiming a service happened (I doubt it did now) turbo blew which through the garage and independent verification who inspected the unit, claimed that it’s been miss sold knowing the that the turbo has been botched repaired.

Had this car 13 days and it broke down…

We had this car 13 days and it broke down while on holiday. My husband was blamed for breaking the ECU unit by plugging a tyre inflator into the cigarette lighter. They lied about having a recorded phone conversation with my husband, and when I told them we want our money back they said they were keeping £1,600 to pay for a new ECU unit. My husband went there a few days later to collect our belongings and it was being fixed, the mechanic told my husband he is putting a second hand ECU unit in, the unit that they claim they bought and charged me £1,600 for. We are requesting the money back and if it’s not forthcoming, we will pursue them through the small claims court. This company are despicable theives. Tony lied about having a recorded phone conversation with my husband, and Vorty cannot be trusted. We had to pay £360 for recovery of the car, travel costs, and lost three days of our holiday which cost £900. We are entitled to our money back because the car must have been defective when Canvey Carriage Company sold it to us. We used the cigarette lighter in the correct way, and this would not have broken the ECU as we have taken advice from other professionals on this matter. This does not end with Canvey Carriage Company stealing our money.
