jamie at chariots is a cowboy

my poor partner brought a car from this company. And what a journey it’s been since December 2023. The car has been in the garage more than he’s been able to
Enjoy it. And now we don’t want a broken car that was sold to us, the lovely JAMIE who when selling you a car is your best friend, but when you come to give that car back, he wants nothing to do with it. The car was broken when we brought it, it’s still broken now and it was sat in the independent garage that chariots use for 3 months and it was only driven 4 miles. This will be going to the financial ombudsman!!!

Customer care?

Rude, arrogant and aggressive man. Do not go here. The cars are expensive but the customer service is the worst I've ever seen.

Just because he drives a Jaguar doesn't mean he needs to look down on people. I felt very intimidated and belittled.

Having just returned from a 200 mile…

Having just returned from a 200 mile round trip to Canvey chariots, a truly appalling company, where my Father confirmed a car viewing visit the day before only for us to arrive and discover they had sold it and could not be bothered to to let us know, despite confirming they would hold it untill we had visited. There was no apology nor did they seem to care. Not a company that treats customers with respect or honesty.

Horrible experience

I bought car in September 2023 from this garage.
First month my car broke down 2x
And last week my exhaust pipe was broken (I’ve been told from mehanic) that car probably never has been checked!
Unacceptable!
Than I needed to also change tyre because they sold me car with illegal tyre.
So this week again £200
Horrible!

Really horrible car garage to work…

Really horrible car garage to work with.
I traveled an hour and a half to view a car. (I rung them the following day and explained I’m coming to view) Showed my interest in a car I liked.
I was waiting for my finance and credit to be accepted which was told wouldn’t take any longer than an hour. So I waited about. Then they rung me and told they sold the car to someone ells. There was some other interest from another couple But the guys told me ‘don’t worry, they won’t buy it’ so leaving my credit finance was enough reassurance to know that I’m seriously interested.
Absolutely no morals or standards with this garage. To be told ‘this is how car garages work’
Staff was smoking in the garage. I’m overall glad I didn’t buy a car from here as it’s a back street horrible garage. Sorry but I don’t have anything nice to say at all. Avoid.

GJ63 JVZ

GJ63 JVZ

I got this car on finance from them everything seemed alright until i got home and on the way to work a week later the car pours out with black smoke and the engine bay is covered in carbon and liquid as the injectors were leaking all 4, this dealership pretty much refuses to deal with it saying i have to bring the vehicle back and i choose the wrong warranty even tho i was offered none, so the finance company brings out there vehicle inspector who tells me that all these issues on the car were there long before i got the car and they tried hiding it with a new oil filter and he believes the last mot was faked, after getting the car booked in with a trusted garage they did there own diagnostic and found a unbelievable amount of issues to put it briefly to fix the car it would of cost me £4,465,43 i had the car less than a month and to top it all off i was informed by the garage that the engine had been replaced with a much older model so how it passed a mot i will never know as it should of never passed its emissions test.

if you see them selling GJ63 JVZ MERCEDES C CLASS C250 stay well away dont get scammed like i did dvsa, dvla and trading standards are now well aware of this car and this dealership

Admin fee issue - Accusations of Lying

My wife and I purchased a motor from Chariots today. I would usually wait to leave a review until after a Warranty expires but being called a liar is something I will not tolerate and people need to be aware of how they treat customers. I had initially written a 1500 word review, but to keep it short, I would avoid if you like good customer service.

Initial online contact was good, however Phil our salesman seemed slightly Chaotic and rude. It nearly put us off buying a car with them, but as they were local we decided to choose them over another company.

My issue surrounds the adding of a £99 admin fee which was not explained prior to purchase.

AutoTrader states this company does not charge admin fees.
Chariots website does not state anywhere regarding admin fees.
At no point in any conversation with my Wife present or over the phone did Phil mention an admin fee.

There had been some other issues including payment using credit cards which does not compare to the final car hand over below:

I called Chariots to see when I could come and collect the car. Phil said he would call me back which he did and said I needed to transfer the final balance of £16,000 to their account. The outstanding balance was £15,901 (minus deposit) and so I asked Phil why it was £16,000. He then proceeded to tell me that he had told me about their Admin fee of £99 several times. At no point had Phil mentioned this admin fee and I said to him that Autotrader said they do not charge an admin fee. Phil’s response “we better get that taken off their then”. He said he would call me back later on. When he hung up, I realised he hadn’t given me the bank details, so I called him back and asked him for the details which he provided. I then transferred the money straight across. I then called Phil about an hour and 15 minutes later as I hadn’t heard from him to see if I could collect the car, which he said I could.

When I arrived Phil, cheekily quipped “well played with the admin fee” and then again proceeded to tell me he had told me over three times about the £99 admin fee. At no point with my wife present or over the phone had he mentioned this admin fee and so I said to him that there was no play and that he had not told me. He then said he was going to speak to Autotrader to have the fee issue updated. He then whacked some paper on his desk in front of me (again not asking me to sit to go through documents or to go through anything else) and said “sign there, as what you are saying is lies”. I challenged Phil on what he said and told him again at no point did he tell me about the admin fee. I will be honest I felt like pulling out of the deal at this point but once the paperwork was signed, he told me the vehicle was under mobility and said “I told you that didn’t I” to which I said no. Again, another fact not explained to us. He told me I would need to pay for tax at the post office. He then route marched me to the car, rudely shouted at his cleaner to move a car he was cleaning so I could get out.

I asked Phil if there was a warranty on the car. He said it comes with a standard 3 month warranty but continued by saying it didn't cover much and wasn’t worth using, he then said to bring it round if any issues as I was local and then disappeared into the forecourt.

I have informed Autotrader regarding the admin fee issue. The Motor Ombudsman Service states that an admin fee must be either clearly explained or advertised on the price of the car otherwise they are mis-selling a vehicle.

Phil failed to explain this admin fee and has put the blame on us for his failings as a sales person. For the sake of £99 you could have still dealt with us using common courtesy and politeness, especially when we’ve just paid £16,500 for a car from you.

I am giving this company 2 stars simply for providing a nice car, but the service, stress and anger this has caused for the accusation of lying has just annoyed me too much to want to reuse this company. There are many liars in this world, but I am not one of them.

So I didn’t read the reviews but wish I…

So I didn’t read the reviews but wish I had first. I picked up a 2013 ford cmax diesel from this dealer which had less than 80000 miles. Having worked on fords for many years it became apparent in the first hour that the dmf was failing due to the car shaking when idling, and when driving. The biting point for the clutch was also very high. I contacted canvey chariots the same day and with little interest was told to take it to canvey carriages next door for an inspection. The mechanic there agreed that the clutch and dmf was almost gone, however on speaking to the manager Tony, Tony then abruptly told me there was nothing wrong with the car and that he would not be putting a new clutch kit in a £5grand motor. I then rejected the car there and then as they had no interest in trying to solve the issue, just told me to leave the key and they cancel the sale. Very very poor

Just bought a car from Chariots

Just bought a car from Chariots. From the moment that I arrived I felt assured that there were covid safety measures in place. Non pressurised dealership which is a breath of fresh air from what i am used to. On selection of my vehicle I was looked after by Tommy who didnt try to push or use too much technical talk and made me feel like I could talk freely. Everything was described and anything needed was taken care of without a hitch. Tommy and Chariots were very keen to make sure all was 100% with the car before releasing it, any minor niggle was seen to immediately. On handover, a great p/x was offered and honoured (not like those online ones...you all know who I am talking about Schofield!!) A warranty was offered but not pressure sold as was a contribution to some fuel. I must admit that I was a little anxious of buying but Tommy was such a great guy that I cant believe the honesty and great service from this company. 5 Stars is an accurate score of what these deserve.

ATTENTION BEFORE BUYING!!!

I was just about to purchase a car from this company due to the 250 5 star reviews that they have on autotrader via Feefo. Feefo is a review platform, which has terrible reviews for being a fake review company that deletes bad reviews and leaves 5 star reviews themselves for the client.

I would like to point out that I have only spoken with someone on the phone regarding availability and have not bought a vehicle from them, but it is a very sneaky and dishonest way to gain people's trust and deserves to be highlighted on a trustworthy review platform for people to see.
