Horrible service. I have been in a payment program with this "Legal Group" for 2 years. This summer (July) they "Just Stopped" paying one of my creditors as agreed. The payment agreement was for 13 payments. They paid 6 and then stopped. There was money in the account and no reason to stop.
When i called to let them know, that i had received notices from that company, they had NO IDEA. The debt was sold to a collection agency!! I called Canyon, their representative said "sorry, Now we'll just have to renegotiate with the Collection agency that they sold your debt to. We'll let you know how it goes."
I tried to reach Supervisors, Managers, anybody! But the Customer Service at Canyon is a brick wall and You Shall Not Pass.
Pathetic.

Gary was great in answering all my questions and shared my excitememt for a new settlement made for me. He also shared great tips on how to accelerate my program.

I have had to call numerous times to get information. Waiting for information and when it finally arrives, it is incorrect or without details. Keep being pushed off until the next day and then the next day.

I don't understand how anyone could give this company five stars. Have you guys seen the Google reviews, the Yelp reviews or the BBB complaints they have received? They are the worst company and the worst customer service team you will ever deal with.
First of all, I have been with Canyon for 1.5 years. I was stupidly hooked into the program as I was attracted to their pitch of being debt free within 4 years and reducing my monthly payments. I had to take a pay cut and move back to CA as my mom had gotten cancer so the reduced monthly fees is so vital to me.
Boy, was I wrong and feel like I was scammed!
After making my payments each month for over a year, I have now paid Canyon $23,000. They have negotiated five creditors for me and have made them monthly payments ranging from $25 to $169, totaling a little over $400/month...for a total of $3,550 to my creditors.
So do the math, I've paid them $23,000, they've only paid $3,550 to my creditors. How does that add up?!
well, here's what they DON'T tell you the fine detail. They take fees in the first 2 years, they don't tell you how they spend fees or how much they actually collect or how they actually "reserve" your funds.
So what happens to those un-negotiated creditors? you get sued! yep, I got sued by two of those creditors and I had to pull the remaining three out of the program and negotiated outside of the program with them to prevent being sued by the rest.
So for those two creditors in litigation, guess how much the lawyer tells me I have in my "reserved" funds to negotiate for out of court settlement? $45 DOLLARS!!!!
remember I've paid them $23,000 and they've made $3,550, I should have $18,000+ minus fees in reserve. But ALL I have to negotiate is $45 DOLLARS!???
the customers are on the line for ruined credit score, the customers are on the line to have to go to court, yet they claim they are helping others?
So what does Canyon do? I call their customer service and they told me to pay $1,300 MORE per month, that's doubling what I pay each month....
I don't have more money to give! Why would I join a debt relief if I have more money?
Now I'm stuck with Canyon having $18K of my money and not releasing them to settle my creditors in litigation, I don't have more money to pay them myself..and my credit is in the can.

Try calling their customer service and you won't get any answers or resolution. Their manager even hung up on me.

Deal with ANYONE except for this company!

To Add: Canyon responded to this review saying someone would contact me. Six days later, I still haven't heard. This is what you can expect from their customer service. Over-promising, under-deliver and lack of communication.

I transferred my account in January 2020 to Canyon from another Negotiating Co as that company had not settled a single debt in 8 months. At one time Canyon service was a bit sluggish and I kept calling but not much happened. I just kept pushing them and things started to happen. I am not very patient. I like fast results. But in the last few months I had great results with several credit card balances getting resolved. I had 7 cards totaling about $80K of which only $17K remains to be negotiated. I now have only 2 creditors to settle with. Canyon has performed very well and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I strongly recommend Canyon Legal Group. Make sure you have funds available to settle for quick settlements.

I wanted to recognize Mr. Laurent. He is most definitely an asset to Canyon Legal. He was able to bring resolution to a problem in one phone call.

I had called several times last week trying to get an error corrected. I talked with several people with no results.

Mr. Laurent was able to give me the answers to get this resolved. He even stayed on the phone with me to ensure that an email that I sent was received. He also reassured me that the email would be given to the proper department and that he would follow up with me the following week to ensure that that the problem had been corrected.

I also appreciate that he was able to give me peace of mind and kept a calm tone with me (I was pretty upset).

Again, he is most definitely an asset to your company. I feel that he really cares about the clients. I am very thankful that I was able to speak to him. I finally felt that there was light at the end of the tunnel.

This program has been an amazing help and has assisted me in settling my debt whereas I would have no way of doing it myself! I appreciate the time spent.

I would like to start by saying overall, Canyon was great to work with over the past 2 years. I would have given them 5 stars, but I would be lying if I didn't say I had some issues at the end of my contract with them. In fact, everything went great up until my contract was set to end in February 2020. I had all accounts paid off and cleared at this point, with two left to go. I made sure to ask about those accounts because the timeframe was so short with paying those two accounts and being done with the program. I was told those accounts were the easiest to work with, not to worry, and that they'd be done. However, when I was completed in Feb I those accounts were not settled. I was put in an additional 6 month payment program (unaware of this), and that was very frustrating. Apparently this is noted in the documentation you sign when you start, but after 18 months in the program I would be lying if I said I remembered every detail in all the paperwork you complete in the beginning. I went back and forth trying to get this resolved since February, and am just now finally getting a plan set in place (which takes me another year to complete). I am unhappy I am doing this longer as I went into a very aggressive payment program to complete it as quick as possible (July 2018 to Feb 2020). Yet, I am still at this into another year. However, Joe, who is EXCELLENT at his job, has literally made things move in the past two days that no one else has done over the past 6 months. THANK YOU SO MUCH JOE for keeping your word and DOING MAGIC. I would call monthly requesting to speak with someone about this and never received any call backs. I understand we are in a pandemic, but those little things like calling back mean EVERYTHING, especially during hard times like this pandemic. I said I wouldn't write a long post and here I am writing one. I hope this helps the next person. As I said, everything was great until the end, and JOE saved my experience and my rating for this review.

Never believe them. They are just robbing your money and killing your credit score

The people at Canyon are absolutely wonderful! The truly base their business on taking care of their clients’ needs. If you are in uncontrollable debt, call Canyon. Everyone there listens, relates and offerS manageable solutions EVERY TIME I CALL!
Debt relief programs are generally shady, untrustworthy and down right thieves. Canyon is the OPPOSITE! Don’t wait. If you’re in debt Canyon is the only place you should call.

I give the highest commendation to Joe St. Laurent for the telephone consultation he provided today in service of my wife Janice Touloukian. whenever I call Canyon and I get Joe I know I will get an answer of some kind. Although I feel cheated and ripped off by Canyon and there is not much I can do about it I know Joe will be honest

This company is wonderful and Crystal is great at her job. Working the phones in customer service is challenging and she was helpful, cheerful and kind. She helped me with my issue and answered many other questions as well. Thank you!
