My experience was less than desirable. I am still unable to reconcile to why early settlement results in additional $7,000.00 more cost than the established monthly payment total. Further, I contacted your office for early payoff because your newsletters lead one to believe that an early payoff will result in substansial savings.

The representative I spoke to was super awesome. Helped me immensely. She should get a promotion!

Here's how it works. You owe people money for one reason or another. Your fault, my fault, nobody's fault. You call Canyon Legal Group and you talk to a representative that gives you hope that they will fix your situation. You enroll in their program and they give you an amount of money you will pay them every month for them to settle your debt. Awesome. Nope. 50%-70% of the money you pay them every month is used for fees until they get the sum agreed to for themselves. Because of this, you can't build up enough money in your account for them to make a deal with anyone. Now you get a court summons. Canyon will not file paperwork for you or go to court with you. You are on your own at this point. Canyon will try to make a deal, but if they can't too bad for you. Now you owe the full amount on that account plus court fees. Awesome. On to the next account, maybe by now you have enough money for Canyon to make a deal. If not, too bad for you. Back to court again. Hopefully you are getting the idea. Canyon Legal Group is out to make money by promising you they will help you. I'm sure they have some success stories, but remember that you are a money making opportunity to them. My suggestion, don't get into debt. If you do, try negotiating with your creditors yourself. In the end, you are going to pay back most of what you owe or file bankruptcy. Either way your credit is ruined. At least you didn't get swindled by Canyon Legal Group. In case you were wondering, I do not recommend them or any other company to settle your debt. Companies are out for themselves not your well-being. Hope this helped.

I also feel like this company is dishonest. Also got court summons and didn't even now I was been sue. Terrible, they finally settle with company for the full amount:( I didn't have time to go to court.
I honestly wouldn't recommend them, the process takes forever to get any results, makes me wonder what they do with the money we keep paying on a monthly basis.
I started with 6 accounts going on two years and only 2 accounts have settle. My credit score is terrible. I would never do this again, you are correct we are better off negotiating directly with the creditors we have, we would get better deals.

I started with Canyon in April of 2019, officially making monthly payments in May 2019. I won't go into details of all the horrible customer services experiences nor how they have scammed their customers, all of their negative review online I expect are all true.

People join these type of programs not out of leisure but out of NECESSITY. I was in a dire situation and needed help. Instead, this company is about leaching on the customers' desperation and only care about their service fees.
A year later, I've paid Canyon ~$15K in fees and what do I have to show for it?
1. have the poorest credit scores that I have EVER seen in my life (since they tell not to pay your normal monthly payments),
2. not even CLOSE to getting my debts paid off since they JUST started to pay a portion of my creditors about two months ago
3. AND to top everything off, I have TWO court summons

When I asked how come the lawyer said I have no money to negotiate with the creditors for the court summons, they said I would need to pay $1,300 MORE a month to settle. Yep, that's Canyon, why did I pay these people ~$15K in fees only to be in worst financial situation than before?
You are better off dealing with creditors yourself.

I started in January 2019 using Canyon to help solve my high credit card debts. In the beginning they suck you in and you trust them, The people were nice. Each time I called with worry, they assured me this is the process, and to be patient. After 8 months in their program, THE SUMMONS BEGAN TO ARRIVE. They give you the line that this is very unusual. I talked to 4 representatives during this time. Each time I felt that I had a trusting, compassionate person, they were suddenly moved to a new department. After 4 times, I caught on and blasted them. At this time they were no longer nice. I left the program after I received a summons for a garnishment of wages. I would also like to bring them to court, as the most underhanded people in a company I have ever seen. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GROUP. NO thanks to Jodi, Ashley, Ken,
& April (who I really felt was going to help) How do you sleep at night.

We feel blessed to have the help we are getting from Canyon Legal Group with our credit debt, which grew out of an unfortunate circumstance. This is going to allow us to stop using credit cards in the future and never rely on them again without ever needing to declare bankruptcy. We have been in the program now for 5 months and every monthly call only assures us that Canyon Legal Group is helping us take the steps we need in the right direction. They have reached out to our creditors with the POA that we signed with them and are working to resolve our debt issues as our deposits allow them the funds to do so by working to resolve the most aggressive creditors first. Our program will last 4 1/2 years, so we are in this for the long haul. Meanwhile, our credit scores will tank but that is to be expected since we are not paying the creditors. Having unfortunately been through a debt forgiveness program in the past, we understand that this part of the process is inevitable but the good thing is that once our debts are settled, we can work to repair our credit again and will never need to rely on credit in the future. Thank you for all that you do!

You guys were so professional and so easy to make it easy to talk with about my finances. The process is articulate and so it is easy to understand and easy to follow. Also, when you ask if we have any questions, it makes me feel...like, you really do care to make certain we both want to succeed in getting my finances back in shape. Thank you!

I exited the program with only a return on my investment of 11%. This is the company's goal - to feed you roses and rainbows at the beginning of the program. Then when they are nowhere to be found when you are summoned, they hope with all their might that you too will exit the program and leave them essentially all of your money. It is a calculated way of doing dishonest business.
THIS COMPANY IS DISHONEST AND SHADY!

After numerous lies and half-truth's from Canyon Legal Services I finally enlisted the advice of a real attorney. I was informed by this firm that he sees at the minimum three clients per week that are dissatisfied with debt relief companies like Canyon.
Here are the facts:
Canyon is ONLY a negotiator - they CANNOT offer you any protection of adversity from your creditors. You will be told how respected Canyon is among the consumer base they deal with. This is simply a slick sales pitch - it isn't true. Canyon is ranked extremely low among its peers as well as being one of the most costly.
Regardless of what sales pitch you are given - your credit scores will tank while Canyon gleans ALL of their service fees up front before they EVER attempt to negotiate for you...YOU are second in line to its greed. I have invested to date over $7,000 with this firm - by balance right now is a little over $800. Do the math - that's about a 11% return on investment.
You will be sued by creditors - without a doubt. It is a cinch. Canyon's claims that this is 'extremely rare' is another shady sales pitch. Once you are six to eight months in arrears the summons' will begin to roll in and at that point Canyon will disappear off your customer service radar. After paying legal retainer fees - I stood in a court room all alone after being promised contractually that I would not have to. Canyon willfully and knowingly misrepresents its contract with you.
Only after most of your accounts are sold into collections and worth only pennies on the dollar will Canyon begin to negotiate. Just for measure, I reached out to several of my creditors and asked them had they been notified yet that I had been represented by Canyon - an none of them had and I have been in the program for seven months.
Once your balances are sold to collections, they are written off and reported on your credit as such. Furthermore - when this is settled - you will receive a 1099 from the injured company which will also increase your tax burden. Your uncollected write-off's will be considered income which will in turn reduce your refund amount if you are accustomed to one.
In summary - of all the things you seek to do for help solving your debt situation - debt resolution companies are the worst of the worst - and with that - Canyon is near the bottom of the infamous list.
It feels noble to try and pay your debt back and that's the emotion that companies like Canyon legal capitalize on - with a polished sales approach and well rehearsed embellishments.
The vast majority of clients Canyon Legal represent will end up in bankruptcy anyway BUT not before Canyon Legal has pocketed thousands of your money you have given them in good faith that your cause would be championed.
Get a free consultation from an attorney - mention Canyon Legal by name. Look at the reports filed on the BBB website about Canyon Legal and how they all follow the same theme (misrepresentation of contract)
Then walk away - no RUN away from Canyon Legal Services and its principal owner Mr. Jonathan M. Schulte.

I am entering into legal proceedings against Canyon Legal for misrepresentation and fraud.

I paid a substantial amount of money to them to assist me in controlling my Debt, to date they have still failed to provide services pursuant to their contractual agreement.

I had to represent myself in court at their request and they gave me false advise which nearly had me held in contempt of court, when i advised i was getting the information from my so called attorney Canyon Legal Group the judge was a little understand, i contacted Canyon Legal by phone after the court matter to advise they had given me incorrect information, when i advised Canyon that i told the judge i was working with Canyon as my lawyer i was met with a response from a Canyon Representative that i should not have told the judge that Canyon was my lawyer or that i had a lawyer.

This company is a complete scam, hopefully with my lawsuit and others against them we can shut them down and stop them from stealing and ruining other peoples lives.

I Like how they give me good advice and make me feel better

Liberty is absolutely the best. Canyon screwed up on an acct of ours and she has gone above and beyond to help us out as well as canyon to really help rectify the situation. It has been resolved yet but I think they are getting closer. Liberty hands down is one of the best reps I have worked with!!

I am quickly losing my confidence.....

The program started out well, but now that all of the litigation efforts are rolling in, and we have court dates set....nothing! I have to call and check on status. There is ZERO proactive outreach to the client (us). This is all very frustrating.
