Taking poor customer service to a new level

23rd March 2020 my father died. Probate confirmed early September. Still literally no further forward in arranging transfer of 70 shares to my brother and myself. This Company is the ultimate definition of shocking customer service.
Automated message on repeat when on hold states we know your time is valuable to us....really..on hold after being transferred to 3 departments for best part of 2 hours with only 20 minutes of conversations with staff.
Raised my 5th formal complaint since 7th April 2021.
This Company should be closed as they are dreadful. Equiniti, Computershare are fantastic though. My recommendation do not use Link Asset Services under any circumstances. You will 100% regret it. 95% bad rating tells its own story.

Poor, poor customer service

I have been trying to sell my Pennon paper share certs via Link Share Deals for the last three days.

After going through the online process to sell, I was informed "The required quantity exceeds our maximum deal size. For further assistance and to sell your shares or purchase shares please call us on tel. no 0371 664 0445"

I am now on hold for the third time, having given up on the first two occasions after 30 minute waits.

This is to sell shares, a time sensitive transaction. They have the gall to charge 0.75% commission for this "service" (if I ever succeed in actually selling them).

I never want to use this company again.

Crooks.. Court action is the only way.

Link Asset Services...Court action is the only way with these crooks, don't waste your time calling one liar after another. 6 months for a lost certificate and £146 extra!, don't even reposnd to formal compliants. Lie and cheat where they can...this is a UK registrar.. and you won't believe it..by far the worst company you'll ever deal with. The regulator needs to shut them down. Go straight to the FO and then file a court order.

Appalling service following death of my mother

Having just read all the previous reviews of Link Asset services i can only say that I agree with all of them. My mother died on 16/3/20 and since obtaining a grant of probate in August I have still not been able to transfer two of her shareholding’s into my my name. My Dealings with Equiniti and computershare have been fine but the customer service provided by Link Asset Services is quite appalling. I would urge any company that has Link as their registrar to change because you are doing your company a disservice as well as your shareholders

Link services provide an awful service…

Link services provide an awful service for the individual shareholder. You can only access one shareholding at a time rather than all your holdings administered by Link. Furthermore, they do not even aggregate together your holdings in the SAME company. You have to log in separately for each time a purchase of shares was made in the same company. They are simply not interested in the shareholders
Note to Trustpilot. Please notify Link, not Capita who as you have noted are not involved any more

Should not be in operation... AWFUL

I have never experienced such an unlawful and appalling service. High fees, incompetence, lack of knowledge. I’ve only had to make 3 sales with this broker and can’t wait to be rid of them. My latest complaint, once which I will be taking legal action for- they forgot to issue me a share certificate and now want me to pay £89 for a replacement in order to finalise my sale. I’ve spoken to 7 people in 5 days, all as useless as each other and all they care about is protecting themselves against the misplaced certificate rather than issuing me a cheque for my money. The financial ombusdman need to urgently discredit this company before they steal any more of people’s moneys through their lies and inabilities.

£37.50 admin fee because of their incompetence

I had shares in a company which was sold to a private owner. It was left to link asset services to pay out to me. After many emails chasing up they told me the cheque was sent out some time ago. In order for the cheque to be reissued I have to submit a signed request by post and pay a £37.50 admin fee. Not having it,going to the ombudsman

So terrible, please move your money elsewhere

Service was so bad, it went past embarrassing. I had some shares gifted from my company a few years back. Reading the small print on the dividends I was being fleeced +30% so decided to cash them in. This took 2 months, numerous letters and phonecalls. Charges are astronomical and each contact made me feel they couldn't do more to make it difficult and slow. They even lost my complaint letter. My advice is to move your shares somewhere else asap.

Dreadful customer service

I agree with all the other reviews, They are awful to deal with. I needed some share certificates reissuing. Despite a number of phone calls each with a promise of a reply both by e-mail and phione call, I have heard nothing from them. If you can avoid them.

Very Slow and Expensive

Took 6 months with my EPA to sell shares by post - mainly due to their repeated refusal to accept documents. Never once did they phone or use the email address requested by themselves and given in each of my correspondences. They did however send countless 'security alert' letters over this period including two received after the settlement cheque. Given wrong information when I called and they lost one share sale form in their internal departmental transfer.
As other reviewers have commented, I found share dealings with Equiniti to be very quick and much less expensive or stressful.

Link Asset Services - terrible

I unfortunately have to deal with Link Asset Management in Ireland. I have never come across such gross incompetence in my life. Transfers I make against my mortgage are credited 30 - 35 days later than they should be. Links policy is that if you transfer money 8 working days before your DDM it will be credited to that month. However, despite doing this they credit it 30- 35 days later meaning I pay more interest. I have asked them for explanations and to rectify their errors - nothing has being forthcoming . I have asked for a meeting and they won’t agree to that either. The emails I have received are rude, full of inaccuracies and contain complete mistruths. When I ask them to explain why they don’t follow their own policies which they have advised to me in writing, over the phone and on email - I get no explanation. They have caused me great stress and their answer is complain to the financial ombudsman. I am not distressed borrower and thankfully am ahead in my mortgage payments and they treat me utter disrespect in all my dealings. Never invest in any part of their services.

Poor dealings with deceased persons assets.

Dealing with Link Asset services with regard to assets of a deceased relative. Took more than 12 working days just to register a grant of probate, At time of writing document still not returned, let alone disposing of assets.
Their dealings with bereavement situations is awful. If I was not forced to deal with them because of my deceased relative’s assets, I would avoid them like the plague.

Avoid Link Asset Services

Now trading under the name Link Market/Asset Services. Absolutely awful registrar. They take weeks to acknowledge receipt of or return paperwork do not enact transfers or sales until they are chased to do so. Avoid shareholdings for which they are registrar if you wish to keep your sanity.

profit before people

Capita is the company behind the misery experienced by millions of sick and disabled people in the UK who have the misfortune to rely on the UK Government for assistance. They operate the PIP (Personal Independence Payment or the new disability benefit) admin along with partner in crime ATOS.

Capita is, self-evidently, a soulless enterprise and their employees are clearly the kind of people who don't really care what they have to do for money. But if you need more evidence then just look at the way the PIP applications are being maladministered. The treatment of sick and disabled people is disgusting, and I can speak from firsthand experience.

Capita, and ATOS, are merely the Burke and Hare of the UK Government; lackies without a conscience employed to do the dirty work of penalising the poor on behalf of a criminal government for the carelessness and frivolities of the wealthy. Under the veil of 'Independent Assessment Services' their employees are responsible for wreaking misery upon the most vulnerable in society. Now, how do you spin that to make it look good?

A mindless and purposeless bureaucratic grind.

This company always exceeds their own promised time to review your matter, then claims they met the response time, but the delay was due to post. Sometimes, they just dropped the matter entirely, no response.

The response was always a pounding with legalese, procedures, administration, bureaucracy, paperwork, officialdom, jargon, and generally customers-are-so-stupid-ness.

Completely absent was a friendly, helpful, customer-centric response that showed understanding of the issue the customer was having (as opposed to the methods of the company that the customer had failed to understand), and a useful suggestion of how it can be resolved.

Welcome to the mindless world of grinding bureaucracy, where the purpose of the day is to fob off the customer with more confusion and tangle in the hope, nay strong belief, that s/he will eventually go away.

Avoid!

Despite completing a change of address at the point of closing my account this company still sent my cheque to my old address. When corrected I was advised I had to wait 10 + days for the replacement to arrive.

Took ages to get them on the phone, I sent countless emails they replied to only one.

Just shoddy customer service, their agents are completely disinterested in your situation. You are simply a number.
