I had the misfortune to have to deal …
I have the misfortune to have to deal with Capita in the course of my work. The customer services representatives give conflicting advice and are unhelpful in the extreme when requesting assistance. If I had investments of my own I would actively choose to invest in a company which did not have Capita as its registrar. Equiniti on the other hand are extremely helpful and everyone I have spoken to in their customer services team know what they are talking about.
Awful company
Awful company, I agree totally with the other review and had a similar problem. I posted the LPA to them to be recorded on the system, with the intention of selling the shares and they have lost the LPA document! After 8 phone calls and 2 formal complaints I am no where forward and will have to pay my solicitor to produce a copy LPA. Noone seems to be in charge of the problem, apparently it's 5 working days for them to even acknowledge the complaint, which doesn't actually resolve the problem. If they can lose a legal document then what would they do to your shares!!!
Not impressed at all, their direct competitors do a far better job.
I have power of attorney for my fathers financial affairs. In order to sell some of his shares held by Capita Asset Services, I first registered this power of attorney with them. Once this had been confirmed as in place I attempted to sell the shares over the phone. That is when the fun started. They were difficult, obstructive and treated me almost with contempt. I certainly felt that I was being dealt with the outmost suspicion even though they had the legal evidence that I had the authority to do what I was doing. In the end I managed to sell the shares by setting up an online account but the whole experience took far too many long phonecalls and toing and froing from one department to another. The process has been far more civilised and straightforward with their competitors in a similar position, such as Computershare and Equiniti. Capita should take a leaf out of others book and treat Attorneys with more respect, and at least show willing rather than treat them with abject suspicion.
Finally, I sent in an email complaint using Capita's own system and heard nothing at all. Follow this non-response, I then raised a complaint with the Client Services Director of Shareholder Solutions at Capita Asset Services. She eventually responded and said her colleagues were looking into my complaint. I did eventually receive a written response but it said absolutely nothing of any importance. To paraphrase, we think we performed to an OK standard. If that was an OK standard then they must have a great number of dissatisfied customers and employees, because this response was a complete whitewash. I have just discovered, after the fact, that they have been bought out by another company. I hope they sort this disjointed and dysfunctional crew out or it will serve to have been a really poor purchase!
