Here’s a good one

Here’s a good one. $11,900 fraud / scam charge by a fictitious moving company. I dispute it as no such services were provided. Capital One allows the charge. Had nine years with company paid my balance every month like clockwork. Filed a formal complaint with the US Attorney General’s Office. I highly recommend seeking other credit card options. They also have had several intrusions/ breaches of customer information.

They restricted my card when i tried to…

They restricted my card when i tried to make a payment from a bank that had already been validated by them and from which I consistently made payments. When I called them the only reason they gave was "it was flagged" but could not tell me why. There would have been no reason for them to think it was fraud since I've been using that bank to pay my balance for years! Then they called the bank even though I told them it would be closed since it was after 5 pm. They wanted to call anyway and put me on hold for 20 minutes then came back on and said they are closed. WTH!!! Then they said the next step would be to send them my last two statements with the full account number. I said I was not comfortable with that and was basically told that's too bad so sad for you. I told her that even if I were to send it, this bank does not put the full account number on the statement, only the last four digits. Her response was, "well just open the app on your phone and take a screenshot of it". What??? I just said they don't put the full account numbers on the statement, what difference does it make whether I'm on the computer or the phone?? At this point I had to end the call because I could feel my blood pressure rising!

I called back the next day during banking hours and this rep managed to get someone on the line who told her that they would not validate my account over the phone, that I would have to go in person to one of their branches.

I'm almost 70 and I don't need this bullshit! Pretty soon you will have to get blood drawn to access your own bank account!!

Worst phone customer service experience ever

I used to love capital One and their customers service but it has definitely went down the drain. I called last week on Wednesday Mar 25 2026 to get a lien release for a car I paid off and received the title thru them and am planning to sell. The customer representative told me that I would received via email within 5 business days. I called on Apr 1st 2026 and spoke with the Automated assistant that forced me to verify myself or I couldn't continue with my call, then I verified myself to the person they transfer me to which was the wrong department, then I was asked to reverify myself when I finally made it to the title department. I told the person no because I had already verified myself twice since being on the phone and I was in public and dont want to deal with identity theft. The person refused to help me even tho I had already verified and identified myself twice on a recorded line. So then today I called back and verified myself to the Automated system, who transfered me to the wrong department again. So I asked to be transferred to the title department and now even though all i'm asking for is to be transferred to the wrong department the representative refused to transfer me even tho I already verified myself through the Automated system. So even if the representative can't help me I have to release personal details of my self to even single employee of capital One that is on the phone or they will refuse to help or transfer you.

constantly locked out

if you're looking to get a high yield savings account through them. Please look somewhere else. They might have a good interest rate, but you will never be able to get access to your money. I have been locked out of my account every single time. I've tried to get into it since I got the account two years ago I recently was locked out of my account for a long period of time to come back to find that there had been a discrepancies in the funds in my account and as a result, I've been locked out of my account since I have gone to their store. It is not worth the hassle of sitting for hours on the phone, trying to get access to your own damn money because their app doesn't want to accept that you know your own password or your own Face ID.

Do not get a cap one card

I had been a customer for over 20 years with them. I never had a problem with them until this year. I have paid on time consistently every 30 days with maybe one or two missed payment over the course of decades. They cancelled my accounts (both of them) which hurt my credit and can not give me an explanation why. I get excuses. It makes zero sense. First they said fraud. Then they said China purchases, then they said a bounced payment. Which anything that was returned was immediately remedied within 24 hours as I informed them I was changing financial institutions. I’m big pissed. And never using them again.

Bad Customer Service with Capital One Bank

In general, the Customer Service / Dispute Department dealing with a relatively small issue, was atrocious. There had been a charge on my credit card from a hotel where I stayed, for approximately $14.75. This apparently was for a breakfast buffet. I explained that the hotel had some sort of labor strike, and there was no one to make breakfast in the morning. There was no specific receipt for this matter. I had contacted the hotel to request a refund, but had not heard back from them. I then initiated the dispute. The information was taken by Capital One, in lengthy, clumsy, fashion, from overseas representatives who appeared to have relatively poor skills in the English language. They made the dispute process as lengthy as possible. Afterward, in subsequent communications, they first claimed that I had not provided any documentation, and they were closing the dispute. Again, I explained that there was no specific receipt, but the charge on my credit card was self-evident. I then sent them a copy of the email previously sent to the merchant, in which I explained that no service has been provided. CapitalOne re-opened the dispute, but then closed it, saying they were ruling in favor of the merchant. Ridiculous! Like a responsible credit card company would do, Capital One SHOULD have first contacted the merchant, asking the merchant to explain the charge. This was never done. I called Capital One again, hoping that, as a longtime customer, they would simply credit me with the $14 charge. They refused. I am now trying my best to minimize my involvement with this company, reducing my credit line, and letting others know about my experience with them. It is ironic that a company that advertises so aggressively can provide such horrible service. I was then reminded of an issue I had with them about 4 years ago, where they claimed that someone had tried to fraudulently get into my account. Clearing that problem was also, I recall, a frustrating, clumsy experience with their customer service department.

credit card application appeal

applied for a card and got denied. I have an 800 credit score but opened a card in the past 2 months. Called them for a reconsideration which they immediately did but I asked for what they would do differently when they said it would hit my credit again. They had no reason or explanation, couldn't pass me to someone who could explain and then told me it was too late. It's the same process so they just hit my credit twice for no reason. Do not do business with this company.

DONT' I REPEAT DON'T APPLY FOR THIS…

DONT' I REPEAT DON'T APPLY FOR THIS LENDER!

They are owned by Discover! Don't be a fool, Discover will give you a better credit limit and treat you better.

I had Capital One for nearly 10 YEARS, I can attest to NOT moving forward with them.

Out of the entire time I've had this card I may have been late once, AND it's because I missed adding a digit to account number. INSTEAD of them calling me to share the payment bounced, MIND YOU it's a $2300 payment that my BANK verified with your customer service reps existed in my account! CAPITAL CLOSED MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT WARNING!! MFR's - didn't have the audacity to save a 10year tenured client who had a great history with them.

GO ANYWHERE ELSE!
