Horrible Travel Booking Portal
The travel portal is clunky and frequently glitches out, especially when trying to search for and book hotels. I use it only for the rewards, and will typically use another platform (mostly Google) to do the searching and then find the match on Capital One Travel. Lately the travel portal has been horrible to use, and I’m considering cancelling my card because of it and may move to another travel rewards card. I hope it improves.
These guys suck
These guys suck. I bought a ticket with them. I had issues and they didn't care. It happened twice. Once my flight was cancelled due to weather, and the other time the hk gov changed rules so I was no allowed to fly. They never offered any compensation or refund, even though I had nothing to do with my situation. It's a hassle to talk to them, they treat you worse than any run on the mill travel agency, even though you pay 400 a year
Capital One Travel one and Stressful booking.
Subject: Disappointment with Capital One Travel Experience
Dear Capital One Travel Support,
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received when booking my recent vacation through Capital One Travel. If I could give zero stars, I would, as my experience has been nothing short of a disaster.
This was my first time booking a trip through Capital One Travel, and I expected it to be a stress-free and enjoyable process, as vacations should be. Unfortunately, the experience has been incredibly disappointing, frustrating, and stressful. I booked two rooms at a hotel in Edgewater, NJ, for $915 last Thursday. To my shock, just four days later, I discovered that the price had dropped significantly to $289 per night. I immediately contacted Capital One Travel to inquire about a price adjustment, only to be told that there was nothing they could do to help me.
To make matters worse, I was informed that Capital One Travel only offers one day of free cancellation, which feels completely unreasonable and unfair. Once a booking is made, there seems to be no flexibility or recourse to correct issues like price drops.
I am truly upset with this experience. As a long-time customer with a Chase credit card for over 20 years, I have never encountered such a frustrating and unhelpful booking process. This experience has left me questioning why I would continue to use Capital One for travel bookings in the future, and I am seriously considering canceling my Capital One card altogether.
I feel completely ripped off and will not be using Capital One Travel again. I strongly urge Capital One to reconsider its policies and improve customer service to prevent other travelers from going through this same frustrating experience.
Complete disaster using Capital One…
Complete disaster using Capital One Travel all 3 trips I booked with them in 2024. First two trips to Hong Kong and Orlando, the hotels didn't recognize the resevations that I prepaid for so I had to spend time and money to rectify situation with hotels on my own because Capital One wiped their hand of it. Last trip to Denver was the biggest disaster. I didn't realize until I received the Capital One Confirmation email that I booked the $88/night hotel for 3 nights instead of the one night that I wanted. Ultimately no one could help me change it because it was non-refundable and I ended up paying $300 for one night at a crappy hotel. I strongly recommend that you use up your remaining miles immediately and never use Capital One again to book travel. I am stunned that Jennifer Garner associates herself with them!!
Complete bullshit
Complete bullshit. First tried to book a rental car. Said I could book with my virtual card number. Kept getting error message. Called and they said I actually couldn't use my virtual card. Had to order a new physical card. When it finally arrived the rental car price had gone way up. Then tried to book a hotel, only because there was a $50 off deal. Kept trying only to keep getting error messages, even though I was using my physical card this time. Called and they said they saw no issues on my account even though there were charges and refunds for the hotel order 6 times. Then they just told me, without even looking into anything or asking what the error message said, that that meant there was no more hotel availability, even though their own website continued to say there was. Offered absolutely no help or solution.
All bank travel portals are a rip off
Many people have learned the hard way that all bank travel portals are crap. You may earn extra points for booking through the portal, but these come at a significant cost:
1) You do not earn loyalty points for hotels and rent cars booked through the portal. Actually, you can earn Hertz points through the Cap One portal, but I don't think you get any loyalty benefits with other rental companies.
2) The prices for hotels and rent cars are consistently higher than booking directly with the hotel or rental company. I am currently on a road trip, and planning to stay at a Hampton Inn tonight. The room is $131 at Hilton.com, or $140 at capitalone.com. I have searched numerous cities for various trips, and this is almost always the case. Not once have I actually found a lower price on Cap One.
3) You do not receive discounted pricing for being members of AAA, AARP, or any other organization.
4) For air travel, Terms and Conditions are not the same as when you buy directly from the airlines.
5) The Capital One hotel search engine absolutely sucks. I just searched for hotels in Dumas, TX, and I got 102 hits, nearly all of which are in Amarillo, 50 miles away! If I wanted to stay in Amarillo, I would have entered Amarillo. (FYI, there are hotels in Dumas.) I used the map to zoom in to Dumas, and then selected the button for "search the map area," but it still gave me the same 102 matches.
Between my wife and my daughters, I had three Venture X travel credits. It took me forever to use them, because the pricing was never favorable, and I didn't want to overpay just to use the credits.
Disastrous Customer Service
It took capital one 6 calls x 1 hour per call to confirm our $830 credit, then about 2 hours to try to book a simple flight to costa rica without success. So 8 hours on the phone total and we are told to call Delta ourselves. Absolutely, excellent customer service.
Horrible experience booking with Hertz
Horrible experience booking with Hertz. Cap one charged prepayment of $90 a day (35% over what it stated online) and offered no invoice - Hertz says Cap one has it-? Now extra charges are coming in for gas and tolls. What a rip off - sky high rates hidden when you book - after hours spent trying to get an invoice, one is never forthcoming even after seven business days. BUYER BEWARE!!
Capital One Travel is a scam
Capital One Travel is a scam. Their "freeze the price" service should be considered a scheme. You freeze the price, but not the fare or the flight availability, meaning they're freezing nothing. You pay for the service, and they do literally nothing. If you miss the deadline to buy the ticket, they charge you the 'frozen price' service fee. If they no longer have the flight and the price changes, they say you can refund the 'fee.' This means they have no risk. They can't actually save that price for you; they're just hoping you'll miss the date to buy the ticket so they can charge you. But if you decide to buy, they simply say the price is no longer available and offer to refund the service fee. It's a scam, pure and simple. This costed me 600 dollars (difference in price of two flight tickets), I called them and they offered a good will $50 bucks. This report is my good will gift one-time gift to them.
Decided to try Capital One Travel and…
Decided to try Capital One Travel and will never make that mistake again. Impossible to get any customer service if anything needs adjusted.
The worst
The worst. I’ll spare details but let my one star do the talking. Will never book through Capital One Travel again. It wasn’t just one incident. Multiple issues.
Worst experience I've ever had booking…
Worst experience I've ever had booking travel through a credit card company.
I booked a room in Las Vegas for some employees who were coming out there to work with me. The employee's name that the room was under wasn't coming anymore, so I called Capital One Travel to change the name on the reservation. They spent a week telling me to keep calling in every day, and then the day before the trip they told me that they couldn't do it. I told them that nowhere during the booking process did it say I couldn't change the name, and in fact, there was a big button to make modifications (upon clicking, it told me to call them). Custom service said that was "just a mistake and the button shouldn't be there." I had to throw away a $200 reservation and book it through someone else last minute. Absolute garbage service and will never use again.
I
Capital One just a word of warning if…
Capital One just a word of warning if you use Capital One Travel. Expect to pay over and above what your rental car receipt says. I used them to book a rental car for one week. They charged my Capital One card $499.30 but my rental receipt was for $358.43, which included charges and tax. When I called Capital One Travel about the $140 difference, the explanation they gave was that receipt was a base cost and the $140 was for taxes and charges. They can’t show me the breakdown of “their” taxes and charges. So, after having my CapOne card for years, I’ll be shopping around. Capital One Travel -
Absolutely terrible service!
Absolutely terrible service from Capital One Travel! When you prepay a bookings for a hotel, and that hotel is oversold...good luck getting a refund from Capital One Travel. I've spent more time trying to get my money back than my flight from San Francisco to Chicago! Even after 4 calls to Capital One Travel, disputing the charge with Capital One Bank along with multiple calls with them, I still don't have my money back! Absolutely ridiculous!
My experience with capital one travel…
My experience with capital one travel was the worst experience. I booked a hotel using their app on my phone, I thought I selected the right location but completely wrong location on the other side of the country. I reviewed the itinerary before confirming, didn't see the location listed in it so, everything looked correct to me. Confirmed the booking then noticed in the confirmation it was the wrong location. I was on the phone with capital one travel for hours trying to get it fixed, but since I didn't buy the cancellation insurance they basically said I was out of luck and all of the miles I had been racking up for a year were gone. The absolute worst customer service as well. They speak to you like they are robots and treat you like you're non-human. One silly little mistake could cost you all of your points.
Never book capital one travel
Never book capital one travel. They are deceitful and rob you. They are not honest in their reviews. They are glorified scam artists
Horrible company and experience
Horrible company and experience. They wouldn’t let me change my flights due to the CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE barreling down on Florida. I canceled my flight on October 8th and after almost a week the cancellation still didn’t go through so I called to try and do it over the phone and I got no where. Don’t get their credit card for travel. I’m out nearly $300 because of their BS policies. The woman who I spoke to was combative and I am so upset. Disgusting, money hungry company.
Less than "0" if that were possible
Less than "0" if that were possible. I booked a stay at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Resort Sand Key for September 27-30, 2024. I attempted to reschedule the reservation after speaking with someone at the hotel prior to the impact of Hurricane Helene on Clearwater Beach. After Capital One verbally confirmed the rescheduled dates I was told on a follow-up call October 9th "Sorry you will have to deal directly with the hotel". The hotel had no record of Capital One attempting to reschedule the dates and did not charge for the stay because they were evacuated and closed. Booking Hotel Stays With Capital One Travel?; Buyer Beware!! #Capital One Points & Travel is a "Third Party" joke. If anything out of the ordinary (Like a Hurricane) happens you will lose your points and money. This lesson cost me 49,478 points and $564.11 cash. I hope this message saves you from making the same mistake I did. ***UPDATE*** 6+ Calls and more than 2 hours of collective on-hold time and they still haven't resolved it! This is after I provided documentation from the hotel that no charges were ever billed to #CapitalOneTravelReviews. Unbelievable!!
I booked flight through capital one…
I booked flight through capital one travel portal and I also took insurance extra for flight delay or canceled. Insurance said upto 5000 usd rebooking for flight. Unfortunately florida gets hurricane on Oct 8 2024. And whole orlando airport got closed. It's category 5 hurricane. Hurricane Milton.
So I booked another flight from Jacksonville airport back home to boston. Capital one mobile app didn't show any update or any option for another booking. It was emergency, can you imagine hurricane category 5 and while airport shutdown, whole city shutdown. Capital one travel customer service said, I didn't buy insurance, I bought service through Capital one travel agency. They changed extra money how expedia.com or any American website ask you at the end , do you want to pay extra for peace of mind.
Now Capital one refused to reimburse because I didn't use their website to re book flight for same day or next day. However whole airport is not functioning and whole city shut down. And agent said, I should have called travel customer service first and they could have done something. So I asked what are the options for this situation. He can refund me original booking but he can't do anything about insurance because it's "service " they charged me for. And basically he said, because airport is not working, I can die their with my family and nothing he can do, only option is, I re book another flight from same airport but there is no flight going anywhere. This is how they scam in name of insurance/ service.
They are a terrible agency that ruin…
They are a terrible agency that ruin capital one’s brand image. My flight got cancelled, the airline is telling me to get the refund from capital one travel as they are the agency. Capital One travel is just refusing to give my money back. Total scam!
