Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 111 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about significant difficulties with the online booking process and unhelpful customer service representatives who completely failed to properly resolve their flight issues. Many people also experienced unexpected extra charges, hidden service fees, and extremely rigid cancellation policies that made modifying travel plans a very frustrating ordeal. Some reviewers were happy with the fast assistance provided by agents and appreciated receiving smooth flight modifications when their travel schedules suddenly changed. A few consumers found the customer support team helpful when managing specific reservation adjustments and taking advantage of quick price matching guarantees.

Multi cities flights selection

The problem I have with Capital One Travel is the limited selection they offer when you are booking multi-cities flight. I am looking for a flight from New York to Taipei and then to Hong Kong and back to New York. Unfortunately, they only have no selection or only limited selections (depends on the date you choose) with extremely high price and long haul. When I check at Chase Travel and Expedia, there are lots of choices with reasonable prices. Since I want to use the yearly $300 travel credit, I was forced to book 3 one-way flights last year. Apparently, Capital One has not improved the selections for multi-cities flight in this year yet, meaning I would need to order 3 one-way flights to use the $300 credit again this year. Very disappointed.

Capital One Travel insurance is useless…

Capital One Travel insurance is useless if you do not get seen by a physician! My children had diarrhea and vomiting the morning of our flight, which made us miss our flight and had to rebook with a different airline I submitted my claim and they denied it because they were not seen by a physician, their symptoms stopped the next day. It was a 24 hour virus so why would I spend more money going to the doctor if their symptoms has stopped?! Even if I did, there would’ve still been a chance, my claim would’ve still been denied so I would’ve been out even more money. For them, the name of the game is to not pay out, which is BS!

I booked a flight with Emirates through…

I booked a flight with Emirates through capitalonetravel two months back. I booked much earlier to well plan my trip and have peace of mind. The layover was just a 4:30 hr in Dubai when I booked the ticket. The capitalonetravel changed it to a ridiculous 31 hour layover without my consent. When I asked for a refund or changed flight, they refused and had the nerve to ask me for more money to fix their mistake. This is a complete scam. Zero accountability, terrible (cheater) customer service, and no respect for travelers' time or money. I expected way better from a company tied to Capital One. Never booking with them again--and please please you shouldn't either.

Capital One Travel customer service…

Capital One Travel customer service agents are simply incompetent. They don’t know how to solve simple problems. I just wanted to change travel dates but they gave me wrong info, wrong price and difficult understanding. Everything is bad every time I called them. Terrible!!! I gave up. I will soon cancel my Capital One card.

Denied access to lounge

One of the main reasons I obtained a capital one venture x card was for the lounge accessibility. When I can get in, it is great, but I currently have a layover at DC Reagan and am being denied access because I do not have a seat assignment. I have a valid boarding pass but American is giving my seat assignment at the gate and there is no one at the gate until just before boarding. So here I sit. Very disappointed in this policy that is keeping me out of the Capital One Lounge.

Stay away from Capital One Travel!

Booked a flight and wanted to rebook the second leg of it (it said online I could). After four weeks of back and forth and multiple hours on the phone with different customer agents they said I would get a refund of 35$ for a flight that cost me total 1400$. Never again am I using this platform.

I was trying to add a night and the person on the other line told me that all hotel resort fees were included in the night. I thought she said the room was refundable so I agreed to charge it thinking if there was something funky with the rate I would cancel the reservation. Turns out the room is non refundable and I was charged almost $60 more for the night than the hotel rate.

Booked a trip to Captiva

Booked a trip to Captiva. Rented a 3 bedroom Villa on the beach. Thank God I checked with the hotel. Capital One Travel booked a 2 bedroom tennis villa. Talked to several supervisors, they admitted it was their fault and were going to try and remedy the situation. Nope. Called directly to the hotel and booked it myself. The biggest disappointment is I booked this in August 2024 for a trip in March 2025. Their suppose to be the experts.
Never again. See if I can get my money back.

I have been using Capital One Travel…

I have been using Capital One Travel for about 6 months. Some things are cool, but I have rented a car through their app and the business was a scam.
I have not been able to access the louge because they are just too full all the time.
And now I have been sitting in my car after driving 10 hous because Capital One Travel booked a pet friendly hotel, I am here at the hotel and they have no pet friendly rooms available?
Also says non refundable?
I have been on the phone for 56 minutes.

This is super inconveniente. I just want a room that is pet friendly. It is not that hard.

Capital One Travel needs to improve this communications with hotels.
Now I am just on the side of the road at night.

Horrible experience.
I shoul’ve booked normally without using their app.
I would be sleeping by now.

Capital One charged me $101 more to…

Capital One charged me $101 more to book a car than it would cost to rent from the company. Their reason was it was a business fee for doing the booking.

Using this service to book a trip has so far been much more expensive.

I'd advise never to use it and book direct.

Has anyone else had this experience??

Has anyone else had this experience??? I'm unable to book Delta flights through the portal. Each time I try I get a message stating either: 1) there are no seats available for one flyer or 2) the flight is no longer available at the posted price - and it sends me back to search again. I've talked to their phone reps numerous times. They can't seem to help. It's been a huge waste of time and I'm not able to use the points I've accumulated.

Capital One Travel messed up our travel booking

My wife and I paid for seat selections on flights to New Zealand. Capital One Travel failed to provide those seats and refused to remedy it with the airline (United). So we had to buy assigned seats again directly with United. Then started the long and time consuming process of getting a refund from Capital One for the product they never provided us. Wasted 5-10 hours between my wife and myself to get a refund. All for the amount of $99. Capital One Travel has obviously never heard the adage "the customer is always right". Do yourself a big favor and book your travel elsewhere.

We have now booked a flight and car…

We have now booked a flight and car rental with Capital 1 Travel. Both times, the online portal did not work for us, and we had to call to complete the transaction. It took us way toooooo long to get the job done. We had to demand to talk to a supervisor who ultimately was very nice and helpful, but not a fun process.

Never ever book with this garbage portal

Never ever book with this garbage portal. Customer service is absolutely terrible. Each rep I spoke has different ways of doing things. Depends on your luck totally.

Summary is I booked a international flight from LAX and with in an hour I tried to cancel and was hit with $184.71 cancellation fee. As per department of transportation all flights originating from USA are subject to free cancellation for 24 hours. So i called customer service and rep confirmed the same, he said will connect with supervisor (kim) and she understood my concern and was willing to help. Said she would contact the airline and put me on hold. Told me airline told to call back after an hour to get an update. She asked me to call back and some one will help as her shift is ending. So I called back again after 2 Hours and got connected to a supervisor named Ryan who dont give an absolute shit and continued to say that all airlines wont follow and he cannot do anything about it. I told him that last rep told she will contact airline again after an hour and he said NO. He continued to say that I didnt read terms properly and asked me to deal with it. When I asked him to have a conference call with airline he refused to do it and said its not possible. So i ended the phone call and contacted Airline directly and asked to cancel the reservation and they said I will get a full refund as it is under 24 hours and asked me to contact capital one as they are the ones who process the refund. Called CO again and was told if it was processed from airline then i will get back in 7-10 days. Asked for email confirmation and he said they cannot send any email as cancellation is from airline.

As of writing this review, havent received refund yet. And this guy RYAN who is the supervisor need to be taught on how to deal with a customer in amicably solving the issue.

Never booking again on this junk portal and might well as cancel my CC with them.

Horrible customer experience in which they blamed us for them not updating my wife’s maiden name to her married name even though the name change was formally made to capital One months ago. As a result we struggled to change the name on the reservations. Capital One Travel not only helped after multiple callls they blamed us. Please reconsider using them.

Deceitful

I used my rewards towards a hotel and booked directly through Capital One travel because they make you believe you're getting the best deal. It turns out I booked what they called a 5 star hotel. When I arrived at the hotel I realized it was no more than a 3 star hotel. I looked online at the rates for the nights I was there and it was $70-$90 cheaper than what I booked through Capital One. I should have done that research before I booked through Capital One. When I called customer service at CApital One they said they could not do anything about it and that is the rate they negotiated. Total waste of hard earned rewards. Don't book through the travel dept. Pay for travel using your credit card THEN apply your points towards the charge.

So Disappointed!!

I have always been mostly happy with Capital One credit card. So I finally broke down and used Capital One Travel. They are useless, I would never use them again and I recommend you stay away. If anything goes wrong you will not get any help. I just wanted to change a flight and I spent literally 8 hours on the phone wasting my time. They told me I had to call the airlines. The airlines told me Capital One had blocked them out and Capital One had to make the change. Capital One said it was their system but they couldn't change it. I really regret I didn't go with Expedia who I use a lot, or better yet, direct with the airlines where you never have these issues. So, so disappointed in Capital One.
