Greedy hotel

Greedy hotel, if you purchase a treatment package don't be surprised to pay an extra £100 just to use the facilities afterwards. Doesn't state that on the website nor in the confirmation email either so whatever you pay for a treatment, add another £100 on top of that JUST FOR FACILITIES. Disgraceful.

I was really disappointed with my experience at Carden Park. The spa was nothing like the relaxing environment you’d expect—instead, it felt overcrowded and chaotic, more like a cattle market than a place to unwind. There was loud music playing outside, groups of people drinking, and an overall atmosphere that was far from peaceful. It simply wasn’t relaxing at all.

In my experience, spas should offer a calm, tranquil escape, but that just wasn’t the case here. Compared to other places I’ve visited, this fell well short. Probably the worst place for relaxing for a spa.

Even the bar area added to the disappointment, with staff dancing around, which made it feel more like an all-inclusive holiday in Benidorm than a luxury spa retreat.

Overall, not the experience I was hoping for, and unfortunately not somewhere I’d return to.

Been here on a couple of occasions…

Been here on a couple of occasions always found it lovely hence why I booked again, went for a spa day, that starts at 1.30 but they ask you to come at 1 we were ready by 1.20 but couldn’t access the facilities until 1.30 on the dot- I think this is tedious and annoying, reality is it’s 10 mins -when we went in most of the staff were lovely bar one lady who abruptly told us to move our towels of the beds whilst on the indoor poll even though there was no one in the spa, she said (are you going to move them now) bare in mind no one in there - ruined the experience- as all day people had towels on beds and no one said a word which is right as the place wasn’t full enough to even care, ( apparently its in the policy to not reserve beds even though there wasn’t a sigh, and I can’t see any info on the site - a manager did see us to explain but again felt like it was on deaf ears -she was more concerned about reiterating a policy that was never explained in the first place - but for £240 for 4 hours to be spoken to like a child I won’t be going back shame as it used to be amazing, did feel like all the pools weren’t as warm feel like they were penny pinching - I wouldn’t return. I could tell from the minute I walked in different leadership, and unfortunately it’s worse

Racist hotel stay away

Extremely disappointing and upsetting experience. This is a very discriminatory establishment. From the moment we arrived, the staff were cold, dismissive, and openly rude to us, while being pleasant and helpful to other guests. Simple requests were met with irritation and condescension. As four women of colour celebrating a birthday, we felt singled out and unwelcome throughout our stay. If you are from an ethnic or religious minority, I strongly advise avoiding this hotel.

Don’t come here if your a minority

We stayed here to celebrate my sister’s birthday, and it was completely ruined by the behaviour of the staff. The atmosphere was hostile, unwelcoming, and discriminatory. As the only people of colour in the hotel, it was obvious we were treated differently. Requests were brushed off, help was delayed or refused, and the attitude was consistently unpleasant. I would never return and do not recommend this hotel to anyone from a minority background

So disappointed

We have been to Carden park several times over the years and always found it to be lovely and enjoyable, how much that has changed! The pricing of everything now is just astronomical, they obviously dont want to average Joe staying there anymore!!
To have all those facilities like the outdoor spa that you can't go to unless you pay stupid money. Very disappointed.

Shocking Customer Service

Spent over £70 on Afternoon Tea Gift including “experience box”. Parcel was received but box was damaged so unable to use as a Christmas Gift. Considering this cost me an extra £13 I was a little disappointed. I e-mailed Carden Park and requested either a refund of the £13 or a replacement box. A chap called Harry replied advising me that it was Royal Mail’s fault and that they would not refund me and that if I wanted a replacement box it would cost me a further £7 to replace. Absolutely shocking service. Plenty of competition out there, especially for Afternoon Tea and I would never consider Carden Park ever again and I would encourage others to do the same, they don’t deserve business.

Overrated, overpriced, no time to use facilities

Booked for morning session but due to traffic holdups arrived at 9.30. Lukewarm reception, form filling and delays. Finally got to changing area and then to small restaurant to order prepaid coffee. Waited significant time for coffee so had to go straight to treatment area for prepaid massage at 11. Reception had forgotten to give us treatment bands so unable to access area. A further trip back to reception to resolve issue. An average massage around 40 minutes for expected 60 minutes. So far hadn’t used any facilities apart from those in spa and lunch was booked so had to leave. Nice lunch (additional charge for some options) and helpful staff.
Didn’t have time for coffee as hadn’t used any facilities to this point. Briefly went to sauna, steam room and pool. Couldn’t access outside area as bands had been cancelled. Couldn’t get out of spa area, couldn’t get to changing rooms or open lockers.
This was to celebrate a milestone birthday where the experience and excessive cost would have been better used elsewhere. If you must go here don’t have a massage or lunch as this takes the time away from your spa experience which is a separate cost.

My wife and I booked a room at Carden Park nine months ago for the night of Sept 11 and today I was informed that they would not honor it

My wife and I booked Carden Park in NOVEMBER 2024, for the night of September 11, 2025 to help celebrate a dear friend's 60th birthday at the hotel. I used Hotels.com to do so. Today, on Sept 8, I received a note from Hotels.com that read: " We wanted to let you know that, unfortunately, Carden Park cannot honor your upcoming booking on 11 Sep 2025." Hotels.com did their best to book me another room elsewhere. No reason was given by Carden Park. In my opinion, there is no reasonable excuse for waiting nine months to let me know that they would dishonor my reservation (and it was not any reason, such as nonpayment, on my part). The Carden Park website says that they are 'closed' on September 11. Why I don't know, since they're open the next day. Perhaps they needed the rooms for a corporate outing, but I cannot confirm this. In any case, it's my opinion that Carden Park's actions are reprehensible and that their failure to offer any compensation or credit is simply unacceptable. It will be a cold day in Hell before I ever stay at this place.

Don’t waste your money

Arrival & Reception:
The reception was busy, and I felt neglected upon arrival. There was no greeting or acknowledgment for a while, and after waiting, I was asked to stand by the stairs. The check-in felt rushed and lacked warmth, and the tour of the property was impersonal.
Outdoor Area & Lounging:
I was excited about the outdoor area but found it overcrowded with no loungers available. After our massage, we returned to find the jacuzzi area infested with flies and wasps, making it hard to relax.
Massage:
The massage was decent but nothing exceptional, especially compared to other five-star spa experiences.
Room & Accommodation:
While the room was nice, I found stains on the bed sheets, which was disappointing. I also found it odd that there was an extra charge for a toothbrush, considering the price of the stay.
Dining & Service:
The restaurant and the service from our waitress were great—definitely a highlight of the stay.
Noise & General Discomfort:
In the evening, there was significant noise from slamming doors and shouting, disrupting our sleep. The spa toilet was also clogged, which was unpleasant and not something I’d expect at this level.
Customer Service Follow-up:
After returning home, I contacted both the spa and the hotel via email to express my concerns. When I didn’t get a response, I called, but conveniently, the manager was unavailable. Eventually, someone did get back to me, offering a room overlooking the golf course if I chose to return—an offer that felt more like a joke. I was told they were happy to "make it right" but after everything, I’m definitely not interested in coming back.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, the stay fell short of my expectations for a five-star experience. The service, cleanliness issues, and overall discomfort made it less relaxing and more stressful. I had been hesitant after reading reviews, and I now regret booking. Save your money and go somewhere where they genuinely care about their customers.

Excellent service and understanding

Our trip was cancelled at the last minute when the airline cancelled our flight and we had no alternative options. The hotel were very understanding and have been a pleasure to deal with. Excellent service and understanding.

Very luxurious day

Just had a lovely treatment in the very luxurious spa by a lovely lady called Jess. She was so meticulous about the placement of the tan and really took her time to make it look perfect. I will definitely be returning for further treatments. The spa itself is stunning, beautiful throughout with attention to detail as in each locker is equipped with a tote bag containing, robe ( very soft) flip flops and a towel. Those little touches make such a difference to your overall experience.

Much improved and great experience

My last stay here was many years ago and it has significantly improved. We were in a newly refurbished room, played both golf courses and visited the beautiful spa. All the restaurants and bars offered varied menus but the most outstanding thing for me was the excellent customer service. It was noticeable how young the team are but without exception they were fantastic. All engaging, happy, knowledgeable and when asked they were enthusiastic about their work. Well done all, will definitely be back

Came here with my partner for a romantic get away! Was absolutely fabulous.

Massive shoutout to Julian, James and their team in the Vines restaurant we had the taster menu paired with wine, was beyond words. Worth every penny!

Breakfast in the room to our room was great delicious and everything we wanted.

All the staff worked so hard to give the best experience, couldn’t fault a thing.

Loved the spa - I would say though the massage should have been 50 mins long but was only 35 mins long which felt disappointing. That being said was adequate. Just expected the full 50 mins.

However we have booked to come again with our daughter next month so excited to see what’s on offer for a family stay too!

Good Spa / Worst Food

Booked for a birthday. This was my second time visiting. The food was subpar the first time—I assumed it was a one-off, and so did she. Unfortunately, the second time confirmed it wasn’t. This will be the last time I ever dine there.

Very simple dishes that should be easy and affordable to make delicious. Instead, it tasted like they’d resorted to low-quality, pre-seasoned tinned tomatoes.

Breakfast was simple but at least met expectations.

In the region. I can’t recall food this bad.

Carden Park: Cheshire’s Ultimate Haven for Every Mood and Moment

We stayed at Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire for two nights for a business conference. This place is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of luxury, tranquillity, and versatility. Whether you’re seeking a romantic escape, a productive business retreat, or a celebratory gathering, this hotel effortlessly caters to every occasion and mood.

As at 18th-20th Nov 24 when we went, I noticed that the hotel is undergoing phased renovations, ensuring that every detail is modernised while maintaining its unique charm. The newly refurbished rooms are stunning — beautifully designed, calm, and impeccably clean. They provide a serene sanctuary with contemporary furnishings and breathtaking views of the sprawling countryside.

Amenities abound at Carden Park. Some of us indulged in its award-winning spa, complete with world-class treatments but could not use the serene outdoor vitality pool due to snow. Golf enthusiasts will be thrilled with the two championship courses that cater to all skill levels. The hotel also offers fine dining at its elegant restaurant and cater for all dietary needs. Non-alcoholic drinkers like me did not feel short changed at all.

For those looking to host events, Carden Park is unparalleled. Its flexible spaces and professional staff make it ideal for weddings, corporate meetings, and private celebrations. The seamless combination of luxury, comfort, and functionality ensures a memorable experience for all guests.

Carden Park’s appeal lies in its ability to balance leisure and sophistication, all while embracing the natural beauty of Cheshire. Whether you’re visiting for relaxation or business, this hotel promises an exceptional stay tailored to your needs. I just love this place and will come back over and over again. 💕💕

Afternoon Birthday Tea at Carden Park

On Saturday 12th October 2024 I went to Carden Park as part of a party of 6 to celebrate a friend's special birthday with afternoon tea. The surroundings were lovely, the service cheerful, and the tea was adequate, except for 3 things. The tea itself arrived far in advance of the food, and so was cold by the time we began our meal. Our plates were covered in sandwich filling after the savoury course, but we were not given clean plates from which to eat the cake. And finally after the initial service, no one came to check to see if we wanted more tea or coffee. In the end I had to go hunting for a waitress. This did not dampen our celebration, but I would have expected more from this establishment.
