Carfax won't honor their buyback guarantee. They say a motor vehicle dept. can be notified of a total loss by insurance, but it doesn’t always yield a branded title immediately. A Total Loss record is... See more

Carfax charges you and provides nothing
Carfax will charge you for a report and not deliver anything. There is no way to reach a human representative for support. I am having to dispute their charges now with my credit card company. Avoid these shysters at all costs.
This company provides false information…
This company provides false information and has no documentation to support the information they provide. On my car fax report it was cited I had 2 accidents with my car.
I only had one accident with a repaint job from the repair of the first accident. The second accident on the report does not site what damage was done to the car- because there was not a 2nd accident.
I filed a claim with car fax and they never got back to me.
They must have a deal with car dealers to report erroneous information giving the dealer ammunition to decrease value of a trade in. Car fax must get a kick back from the dealer from the extra money the dealer made by providing a much lower value on the car.
I will not stop here. I will go to the BBB. I will request documentation citing Car Fax ‘s invalid claims on my car.
Inaccurate report and the worst customer service
I was selling a vehicle and the buyer did a carfax report which showed showed an item called "reported damage" with no details whatsoever, which I know is incorrect. I went to the Carfax website to report the inaccuracy and they they emailed me back saying they would research and report back. I waited several days and sent another email because the buyer was waiting for the answer. In all, I sent three emails requesting an answer. I NEVER got an answer or email explaining where the information came from. I was very upfront with the buyer about all the repairs and maintenance of the vehicle, including providing my records. I almost lost the sale, but fortunately the buyer believed me after forwarding the emails I had sent to CARFAX. He also said he had heard that CARFAX can be inaccurate as well. CARFAX could be a great service if the were more accurate and responsive to customers who find discrepancies with their reports. CARFAX needs to be more responsible as they are hurting honest people who are trying to sell a car. At this point, I don't think you can fully rely on a CARFAX report and for the cost, I don't think it worth it.
Horrible Customer Service
Horrible Customer Service! I bought one report (almost 50.00) and couldn’t access their website. Tried to tell someone but it’s all animated. No live bodies to talk to. I guess I’m out 50 bucks. Don’t do it! You’ve been warned!
Carfax's website sucks
Carfax's website sucks. When you put all the information in for a search, then click on a result, then go back, you lose all of your search information. There is no way to save your searches. Ill shop elsewhere.
Outrageous pricing
I understand charging for a report, they've got to make money I guess... but 50 dollars FOR ONE REPORT????? 100 for FOUR?????
Absolutely insane. Holding anyone not rich enough at gvnpoint. Who can afford to pay that much for CAR REPORTS???? The whole point is to shop around!!!! Now you have to just pick one vehicle to check up on and PRAY you don't have to buy another report?????
Screw that, I'd much rather just take my chance on buying a lemon than using this crappy service, whom everyone in the reviews already says provides seriously inaccurate information, anyway!
At least Cars.com will give you a generic report for free. I was hoping to get a better one from Carfax as I've used it a lot in the past, but after seeing their new prices and what everyone says about their accuracy, you're joking if you think I'll be using it any time soon.
Carfax is easy to use
Carfaxdeals is easy to use, the results were instant and accurate, everything was a match too, I wish I would've used them before, Thanks Carfaxdeals!!
Used CarFax Report helped with Vehicle Purchase
Used CarFax Report to search history on Pre-Owned vehicles. Located a 2024 RAV4 at AutoNation Toyota Tempe. Met with Internet Mgr - Eddie K who showed me the vehicle and took test drive. Helped secured financing options and drive it home in less than 2 hours. CarFax Report and Eddie K made it worth my research and time. Highly recommend
Unfair Deactivation of Dealer Accounts
Be very careful with this company. They advertise an “unlimited” dealer account, but once you actually use it, they claim unusual activity and shut the account down. Dealing with them is extremely difficult, and this behavior will likely cost them many dealers. Then they want to monitor the account like you are some child and not an adult.
Daughter of the car owner
I am submitting this review as a caution for Carfax users and other potential buyers. My 71-year-old mother purchased and is currently financing a 2019 Ford EcoSport from CarDoor in August. Within three days, the battery failed. Weeks later, the valve cover gasket required replacement (we paid $250 in labour). Now, only five months after purchase, the throttle pedal — a safety-critical component — has failed, making her afraid to drive the vehicle.
CarDoor has refused any assistance or good-faith resolution, repeatedly citing the 36-day safety certification window and stating that all repairs are the owner’s responsibility. A car sold as “certified” should not experience three major failures in a matter of months, especially when sold to a senior customer.
I am sharing this experience to encourage Carfax to review their policies and consider monitoring dealerships that repeatedly sell vehicles that fail shortly after purchase, particularly when certification is advertised.
Do NOT RECOMMEND
Carfax service is below par. Wanted to purchase a car, did a check and came out with damage. Ran another check with carvertical and it did not show any damage. Definitely recommend that people should stay away from this service. Moreover, they were asking for personal information . The government should have a look into this company as their operating practices and standards are a joke.
Have been trying to get an odometer…
Have been trying to get an odometer discrepancy fixed for almost a month. I have sent in every piece of documentation that the tag/title office could give me. They still insisted I needed a new title (although I had already provided a corrected title). Title office had to issue a replacement title since they couldn't just issue a new title with a different date. I have asked for this to be escalated to someone beyond the current agent. Nothing. Takes forever to get responses. No way to contact anyone other than online. It is beyond ridiculous. Have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but so far nothing has happened on that end.
You're not buying reports. You're renting reports!
These reports aren't cheap! Bought a package a few years back during my car search. Only used one. Just logged in to find out I have no reports available. I don't recall if it was stated that the reports expire - that's on me....but it still seems shady. A company that doesn't put the customer first. Lesson: Think carefully about how many reports you'll really need!
Carfax mistakenly shows my car to have…
Carfax mistakenly shows my car to have been in an accident so serious as to deploy the airbag. The car has not had any damage! It has had no repairs.
It has been over 2 weeks with no resolution.
AND Carfax will not divulge where they got the incorrect information. This will cost me $2-3000 dollars on trade in! Terrible Company Policies!!!!
Should get ZERO star rating
1 star because there is no lower score. This compound a complete scam and our government regulators should do a full investigation.
They are completely corrupt and dishonest. They post false information and if you try to correct them, you hit a brick wall. No recourse for car sellers for the bad data and they have infected the car sales and insurance business like a plague.
If there was ever a need to investigate a consumer related entity it is CARGAX!
carfax report was incorrect on repairs
I purchased a vehicle with a carfax report that had repairs reported wrong. When I tried to apply for their carfax buyback guarantee because this mistake will cost me over $10k in repairs, they instead “fixed” the error on the carfax report, and said I don’t qualify for the buyback guarantee. Also you are not able to talk to a real person
Car Fax put the wrong info that my car…
Car Fax put the wrong info that my car had a rollback on odometer, that cost me the sale of my car to a dealer, after I complained to Car Fax, they said they have fixed the report, but refuse to show me that they did anything !
Sunshine Auto Outlet 1735 Croton Rd
Sunshine Auto Outlet 1735 Croton Rd, Melbourne, FL 32935, (321) 496-7659. I purchased a vehicle from this dealership, and they made several promises that the did not keep. The backup camera did not work, and they said they would fix it, but when it was delivered, it had been rigged with masking tape, glue, and still does not work. The make promises they don't keep and smile while they lie to your face. The salesperson is friendly and appears to be helpful, but he really just wants a sale. Never trust this Used Car company, they are not what they seem. Let the Buyer Beware!!
Absolutely waste of money
Absolutely waste of money. Shows nothing that you can't find for free on for example carinfo.se or any other car website..
I was expecting something, but not even a nice UX..
Should have bought btc instead🤪
