This rating is for the manager at Carluccio's Ealing branch.

We had a problem with our food but mistakes happen, what matters is how the mistakes are handled. The manager on Sunday 13 Jan lunchtime was great, he was very professional and made sure we left happy!

Carluccios Smithfield

Really enjoyed our food in Carluccios in Smithfield’s! Service was quick and friendly, all food and drinks arrived after a short wait and all dishes were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by all. There was a wide selection of food to choose from and our vegan guest was well catered for. They have a delicious veg board to share that I’d recommend to everyone as well as the plum tart.

First time I visited, will be the last.

I ordered the spinach ravioli, normally love ravioli but it arrived cold, was extremely bland and had excess water on the plate from god knows what so I couldn't stomach it. I was going to comment on how fast the food arrived but the fact it wasn't cooked for long enough is probably why. Never again.

Still waiting on that steak...

Currently in Carluccios next to Westfield (White City) and I have successfully managed to get my starter which was well presented and quick. However, I have now waited 45 minutes for my main course and I don’t think a medium rare steak should take longer than 15 minutes to cook and prepare. I can now understand why the restaurant has such a low rating. It’s such a shame as the food is excellent quality. But the service and management is clearly not working. I now understand why not many people were in the restaurant as I walked in... I’m not sure I’m even hungry now.

After my first visit to carluccios I…

After my first visit to carluccios I vowed never to go again, but as circumstances would have it, I was obliged to make a second visit. How this restaurant can get away with charging what it does, is astonishing. I ordered a pear and gorgonzola salad for starter. It should have just been called red lettuce salad. There was barely any cheese and only a tiny amount of pear. No flavour. For my main course, I ordered the steak. This was arguably one of the most dry steaks I've ever had. Supposedly it came with truffles but I didn't see any and the vegetables were burnt. A friend of mine ordered pate for starter. This was served on a sad looking, burnt piece of toast. I will never return!

I used to rely on Carluccio’s chicken…

I used to rely on Carluccio’s chicken liver pate being genuine. It was close textured, greyish under a lid of butter – the genuine article. Now the pate has been mixed with something like tomato sauce and bread crumbs so it’s a loose pink pap, Similarly the spaghetti carbonarra used to be genuine, with egg yolk cooked but not scrambled by the heat of the pasta. Now some sort of premade limp sauce takes the place of the egg yolk. It is depressing.

CHELTENHAM BRANCH.

CHELTENHAM BRANCH.
This was a special dinner for my 85 year old mother and her sister. The breaded chicken was burned black and dry as a bone, and the seafood tagliatelle had no seafood, was cold and a congealed overcooked tasteless mass. Antonio would have thrown it across the kitchen in disgust! I didn't send it back as I didn't want to upset two elderly ladies but I contacted head office who said someone would call me at a set time. Needless to say no one called, and a reminder from me was ignored.
What a disgrace and a ruined night!

Friendly atmosphere

I have never sat down for a meal in one of their many outlets, so my review is based entirely on purchasing from their deli counter, such as freshly prepared pasta dishes, food produce from Italy, or a coffee perhaps.

Very attentive and friendly staff, a good selection of meats and cheeses on display, always a couple of freshly made pasta dishes to choose from, and not overly priced.

Christmas time the shelves are bulging with goodies from Italy, but not cheap.

Out of all of them I recommend the one in Smithfield at lunchtime during the week. Atmosphere buzzing inside, or sit outside to experience London's black cab drivers and the lads working at the famous Smithfield Meat Market bantering and joking between themselves.

As I said, never sat down for a meal myself, but judging how busy it always is, I guess it's worth a try.

Atrocious non-existent service at Cariuccios Paddington Street, Marylebone

Atrocious non-existent service at Paddington Street, London branch. Arrived at 9pm on Wednesday evening and sat at a table outside. The restaurant was less than half full and there appeared to be just one person serving plus someone else who appeared to be the manager. We waited 20 minutes for someone to come to our table during which time the waiter served the table next to ours and another outside table. Maybe we were invisible!! Gave up and went somewhere else. No wonder they’re going bust.

Bloody chicken surprise

Birthday treat for Nephew and Niece at Covent Garden. My £15+ lamb kebabs was over £2 per cube. And my daughter's chicken was partly undercooked. Complimentary coffee and both dishes given to us gratis but it just wasn't a good dining experience. Plus the bill says 100% of credit card tips goes to staff, but the water said only 50% finds its way to the staff. Odd how the bill overcharged for the 2 meals we complained about (charging for 2 more servings than we had) and then credited this money back plus the cost of the meals we complained about. There has to be something dodgy going on there. But serving bloody chicken is very shabby. Waiter was very nice though. Manager took my number. So let's see what happens.

Never go to High Street Kensington restrauant!!

Had such a horrible experience when I went to visit the restaurant in High Street Kensington. Horrendous service from the waiter who was day dreaming out the window when he took our order, my minute steak was that bloody that the rest of the plate and food was covered in blood so I couldn't eat anything else. Had to wait 20 minutes for them to take the plates away so instead I went up to a waiter to ask him for the bill and remove the food. I ended up going to McDonalds to grab food because the service was better from a machine than the person and the food was cooked nice.

I've sent an email to Carluccios to complain and they emailed back asking for me to ring them or to provide my number for them to call me so we can discuss the service I have received. I decided to call them and every time I could not get through. In the end, I emailed them with my number and still heard nothing.

The worst restaurant service I have ever been too, I now wish that I never paid for the food and walked out and have gone somewhere else. We decided to go there as it was our last night in London before we travel back home to Bristol and I can definitely say I won't be going to any Carluccios again!

Carluccio's Beverley

My partner and I went to have lunch at Carluccio's in Beverley, East Yorkshire, at the weekend. We both had the chicken saltimbocca and arancini starter, with a basket of breads and olives. He ordered cider and it was an Italian variety - very light, pale and sweet, but lovely.

Fantastic quality food and great customer service. There are only a few negatives that I can recall. One is that the restaurant's music is a bit too loud, so you almost have to shout to be heard when the place is jam-packed. The other is that it's a bit expensive, but as it's premium Italian food, that's passable for a special meal or to treat yourself now and then.

Went on 24/5/18 11.30 am

Went on 24/5/18 11.30 am. Order the two vegi options. This was the worse meal I have had in my 68 years. The food was lukewarm it was supposed to be on bread, in fact, a pile of soggy spinach put on the bread turning it into a muss of uneatable muss with no texture. LEFT NO TIP NEVER TO RETURN. My wife had been before and did not like it but I insisted on giving it another chance BIG MISTAKE.

Half hearted token gesture...

Let me just start of by saying Carluccios is one of my favourite restaurants and I have been many times before.... however maybe all good things must come to and end. I decided to go to Carluccios Leamington Spa on Friday 16th March as a treat for myself and the kids. We chose our seats and sat down, the waiter came over to ask if we were ready to order, I asked for a few more minutes, however we then waited 10minutes to get served. I ordered two children’s meals, the vegan version of the Zuppa di Funghi for my starter and for my mains Orecchiette al Cavolfiore and a cherry juice. My starter came out with the kids mains, all going well, until I take a mouthful of soup and along comes an explosion of gritty stones in my mouth, I explained to the waiter who told the manager, he then came over for me to explain it all over again. Coming to the conclusion the mushrooms may not have been washed properly. The manager was very apologetic and offered to replace the soup or remove from the bill, at this point the kids were ready for the dessert so I decided to just go for my main meal. I received my main meal which I might add was lovely, however then I noticed through the pasta a lovely blond hair stairing me in the face (by the way I have dark brown hair) I alerted the manager again, he was really apologetic and advised the meal was on Carluccios, and went on to serve the children the dessert (one opted for ice cream and the other a chocolate brownie) I decided against a further course just to be on the safe side. I noticed as my daughter was mid way through taking a bite again a blonde hair was in the brownie, again for the third time the manager poised at our table, shook his head in disbelief, his response “I’m so sorry this has never happened before” “we are obviously covering the bill, but would like to invite you back for a meal on us, I will speak to my Area Manager” he took my number and called me back on the Monday to say he would be sending me a voucher for myself and my family to come back and have a meal. I opened the envelope and found a gift card of £25, no letter, no compliment slip...nothing. I’m deeply saddened by this whole experience and the fact Carluccios is not the cheapest restaurant out there, not only that it feels like this was a half hearted token attempt to rectify a situation. Why the manager said he would be inviting myself and my family back for a meal “on them” and then backtrack and send me a voucher which probably wouldn’t even cover the cost for one person is slightly disappointing to say the least. I really hope Carluccios takes more pride in their service and food for the future.
