Happy with our new arena
After a few issues with delivery , not arriving on the day promised and came in 2 separate loads so we needed to hire a forklift for 2 days and had 3 men standing around for 2 separate half days . We eventually got our surface and we are very happy with it . If it hadn’t been for the delivery issues I would of given it 5 stars .
Yes it did smell a bit , but it is recycled carpet shredded so yo be expected . It is great value for money !
Stay away
I would like to share our experience with Carpet Gallop. In December we ordered 55t of material, asking for delivery in February. Due to the pandemic we were informed about possible delays. We paid everything in advance. Deliveries started in June. We were incredibly surprised, as the lorries were only half full and loaded with small amounts in big bags:
05.07.2002: 12 bags 200kg each: 2400 kg
06.07.2020: 14 bags x 200 kg – 2800 kg
5 bales x 860 – 4300 kg
09.07.2020: 6020 kg
10.07.2020: 14 bales - 2800 kg
09.08.2020: 9 x 386kg = 3480 kg + 14x200kg = 2800 kg
In total they delivered 24 600 kg out of requested (and fully paid) 50t. Of course, it cost us a lot to organize the unloading every time a truck arrived. One of the bales was contaminated and we had to pay additional costs for removing the material as we were not able to use it (it was a different material, smelly and full of plastic and garbage) but this is not the worst part. Carpet Gallop were not able to deliver the remaining 30t, they lied to us on many occasions that the material was ready, and that they were organizing transport for delivery. After several weeks of asking for our delivery and listening to false promises, we decided to cancel the contract and ask for a refund for the missing 30T as we had no choice but to order it from another company. CEO of Carpet Gallop accepted and promised to refund the next day. Trusting him, we organised and paid for the material from another company. CEO lied to us on more than one occasion that the refund was done. The money was never refunded from Carpet Gallop. He also did not respond to a formal call for payment. The Case is now with our lawyer as we are forced to take legal action against Carpet Gallop. We suffered a lot of stress and our business was in danger as we were not able to ride on unfinished arena.
Please do not make the same mistake as we did, stay away from Carpet Gallop. We have proof of everything stated above.

Good Product
Due to the pandemic and some machinery issues our collection date was put back twice but , true to their word , the product was released for collection and I arranged to pick up 22 bulk bags of the Gtech carpet fibre top surface directly from the factory . As its shredded vehicle carpet there we absolutely no metal parts and other than some clumps of "fluff" its was all usable , clean and of a consistent size . it was easy to handle and spread and now it has mixed with the sand base it rides very well in addition to retaining moisture and stopping the wind from moving the sand around / out of the menage . I am very happy with the product and would recommend.
The best surface I have ever ridden on!
The best surface I have ever ridden on!
I bought the gtech fibre to go on top of my old sand surface and it’s turned it into something amazing. It doesn’t ride deep and so easy to maintain. The service I received from office staff to delivery was fantastic. Totally recommend this company
5* friendly company / competitively priced.
Had my ménage done by carpet gallop just after lockdown. The team was very professional and did so well under the new circumstances. Thank you so much for making the process so easy. Product is great, staff are lovely 5*

Ordered a surface last year which had a higher than normal sponge content , Mark was really good he came out and agreed to replace it , Covid hit and a bit of a delay but all sorted and received really excellent service .
I must add to be really fair the original surface rode really well just the lighter appearance needed sorting , this surface is really low maintenance we have big show horses and they all love it best surface we have ever had . Thank you .
Cant speak highly enough of Jenny
Cant speak highly enough of Jenny. Came to her with my business and solution was provided at a great cost. Friendly and efficient.
Please please please DO NOT even think…
Please please please DO NOT even think about placing an order with this company...... the product is so full of tin cans, carpet gripper, steel door plates, nails, hard plastic Etc it’s a miracle there’s enough room on the delivery wagon for any carpet fibre.
All the fake reviews you see on every review site as well, you know the ones with just 1 review lol.
Company’s going out of business that were owned by the current owners wife and son....... crooks!!!!!!!!
I’m currently claiming S75 on credit card so fingers crossed on that one.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!
Dangerous surface/ horrendous company
Dangerous surface/ horrendous company
Ordered over lockdown. Delivery strung out day after day. Ended up being a loose load due to a “machinery breakdown” and turned up on an arctic ( specifically asked for smaller lorries) £££ spent on tipping it elsewhere and moving it with false promises of being reimbursed . No exaggeration it stank the whole village out when it arrived!! Pure ammonia. The most worrying thing is the sheer amount of sharp carpet grippers, sharp mangled metal, rocks and general rubbish to include a full Stanley knife complete with blade! None of which have any place in a horse arena. Absolute waste of time trying to deal with it through the company so have cut losses and gone on to sort/change it ourselves. Owner promises the earth but delivers nothing. Absolute nightmare to deal with. Will NEVER recommend them. Strongly advise to avoid at all costs!!
Do not use this company
Do not use this company. There is so much dangerous rubbish in the fibre topping, it should never be placed on an arena, (metal strips from between the doors) which have been shredded, extremely sharp edges, wood gripper with the nails attached, shredded plastic (extremely sharp) stones, wood, paper, plastic bags, toothpaste tubes and sanitary pads.
Please, please think long and hard before using these people!
Please do not use these people, they supplied me with an unsafe and dangerous surface. They then block you on FaceBook and won't deal with you, one of our friends had also ordered off them and they then claim they have not even had an order off them. Also many of these reviews appear to be fake, at least four are from employees with one of them being from his son (and ex director of the company) and as soon as a negative review appears two or three positives miraculously appear.
He also claims they were owned by another company and they supplied the product, this company is/was owned by his wife & son and has gone into administration. they've also now got other companies with almost identical names, same Facebook page, same website and same phone number.
He is still doing the same with the new company as I have found at least three other people with the same issues even after April 2020 and from the new company. You can see that from the recent reviews too
So please, please learn from my experience and do your homework much better than I did, or you too may be paying more money to have this rubbish removed than it cost in the first place.
Take care what you buy, remember there is no smoke without fire and if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!
Dissapointing at best...
In the interest of others curiosity we have decided to tell our customer journey from start to finish.
28th July we contacted Carpet Gallop to get a quotation to carry out our work. We received a satisfactory quotation for a Topper on the 29th July and decided to go ahead. We made the deposit which is around half the total value and awaited a delivery date.
Monday 24th August was our delivery date so we made preparations. We organised machinery, done final preparations to the arena and organised time off work.
Friday 24th August we received an email to apologise due to a breakdown in the manufacturing depot that our delivery would be delayed and would be re-delivered on 7th September. We arranged for machinery again and another day off work.
Friday 4th September we received another email from the company to say there is yet another delay due to a breakdown at the manufacturing depot and again we would be delayed. They would be in contact to re-arrange. We contacted Carpet Gallop to advise of our frustration and they advised that delivery would be on 9th September. We contacted them by telephone and messenger chasing this up as nobody was contacting us. It’s a little frustrating when you are organising machinery and time off work every time there is a failure and all trust was lost at this point.
Tuesday 10th September we chased and chased as we had yet received no confirmation at all that there would be a delivery or indeed what time the delivery would arrive. I conveyed my lack of trust that my money would be safe to which the reply was “your money will be safe if you paid by card”. This is not the sort of reply you want from a company who has your money and isn’t turning up to provide the service they promised.
Wednesday 11th September we were given 5 different times that the arena surface would arrive which we had to keep chasing for after the first time of 12 was passed. The last time given was 6:30PM. We called again and was then told that the driver had gone to hospital with his mother. We were given the courier agents number to contact. We contacted them and after much frustration and explaining that nobody would be home after 6AM they promised a 5:30AM delivery.
Thursday 12th September as you may well know by now – no delivery at the promised time! After several phone calls to Carpet Gallop and the Courier they turned up at 8AM. The driver advised he didn’t even know about the delivery on the 11th September let alone the promised time of 5:30AM and he never starts until 7AM. Plans cancelled for this day as well………
The inspection of the goods delivered was fairly poor. There was a ton of supply missing which wasn’t a good start. The driver was scared to remove the pallets at the roadside as the pallets were in pieces and the wrapping was torn to shreds. Chunk of the product were missing and spilled around. He did however take around 5hrs to carefully remove the pallets and put them in the arena. The couriers agent was very unpleasant and blamed everything on Carpet Gallop even claiming they had never spoke to them about delivery times on the Wednesday. He then sent a text to advise he regularly comes by our area and “will be sure to pop in and say hello”. Unsure whether this was a veiled threat but it certainly wasn’t welcomed.
We contacted Carpet Gallop again to advise of damage and poor quality of the packaging, missing product etc. We received a reply which advised “The packaging is loose basically to stop the bales from heating up. If the bales cannot "breath" they will start to heat up to the point the fibres will melt. I have passed the pictures of the pallets on to the depot as they need to address this however pallets do struggle to cope with weight and supply of good stronger pallets do add to the cost that we have to pass on.
My apologies for your dissatisfaction however demand for the products are high and we are under pressure to deliver and the product is priced to enable people to obtain a surface on a tight budget. We are increasing prices to cover the cost of more expensive pallets.”
This is our journey to date. We would never force our opinion on others but we do have everything to back up this information and would be happy to discuss this with anyone.
To sump up: The start was good (quote etc) the middle was horrendous and the end was just unbelievably bad. Meanwhile if anyone needs me I’m in the arena picking the rubbish out the surface.
I ordered my surface eight weeks ago, please avoid.
I ordered my surface eight weeks ago, at the time of purchase the delivery was estimated at three weeks. (COVID was in full swing, so that's not an excuse) Once I had paid, I heard nothing. NOTHING. The company didn't even give me a receipt, and I had nothing in writing to confirm my order, even though I spent over two thousand euros with them.
I waited.And waited.
After five and a half weeks, I emailed them with my concerns. I was very patient. They didn't reply.
I sent them a FB message and was told COVID issues. But still no delivery date or information.
At the eight week point, my husband messaged them for a refund. The next day we were given three different delivery dates. Yay...urm no. We got three dates but oh, not as a choice. But because the company has not got a clue what it is doing and were basically throwing random dates at us. When we again requested a refund for the third, fourth and fifth time, all in writing we were told the delivery date was booked, and we couldn't cancel. Yet they had yet to inform us of the delivery date. Fun huh... They also quoted terms and conditions of cancellation. Previously neglected at the time of purchase to point out those same terms and conditions. Small hint--companies can't do that, no receipt and I purchased on the phone. You can't sping t&c's as an excuse to not deliver. You can't blame COVID when I booked at the hight of the pandemic. COVID was not a surprise. I booked in June.
I have requested a refund from my bank, so hopefully, that will happen. If not, I will be taking this cowboy company to court.
PLEASE PLEASE do not buy from them. The price looks great, and the product looks good, but the customer service is horrifying. HORRIFYING. The correspondence from this company has been non-existent.
As soon as they had my money, well it was like I no longer existed. I have every right to cancel legally, yet they have attempted to bully me into keeping an order that they STILL can't give a delivery date. It is not like a pair of shoes; this stuff is heavy! I would have needed to hire equipment to offload the delivery lorry. That equipment costs E220 a day hire. Was Carpet gallop wanting me to hire that for each random delivery day just in case???? Yeah, nuts. I even asked three times for them to clarify but they refused I even have an email from the MD with the delivery date left off.
Rude, aggressive and misleading.
Please save the heartache. Please avoid, avoid, avoid.
Carpet Gallop you should be ashamed.
Having read various reviews on Carpet…
Having read various reviews on Carpet Gallop I took a risk in ordering, delivery was a bit chaotic with some poor communication, which resulted in several days waiting with a friend on standby to unload! However I will say that when Carpet Gallop were made aware of this they arranged delivery with a forklift to unload for me, which was much appreciated.
So the surface itself? It’s important to remember that the carpet fibre is a recycled product, I did find some rubbish- plastic bottle, paper and some large pieces of plastic, but out of 40 ton of surface I found maybe 15 bits of rubbish. It also does smell! But again it’s a recycled product and wrapped in plastic, the smell goes as it is spread out.
It rides well, my mare tried it this morning and she was very happy on it.
It is a little dusty, however I’ve rode on worse and with some rain it will settle (it has been stupidly hot and dry since it was put down).
Overall I’m very happy with this surface 😀
Would have given 5 stars if delivery had been straightforward or I had received the wine I was promised to make up for it lol 😂
What a load of rubbish.
Update 21-09-2020
Since receiving a S75 refund Nov Dec 2019 we decided to clear the carpet fibre of foreign objects.
A task we wished we never started. Bought a good Garret metal detector, sectioned the arena up by running string from posts across and up and down. Made 112 3m x 3m squares, it takes approx 1 hrour to clear 1 square. We are finding between 1 and 3 kg of metal, rocks hard plastic in each square. We still have 20 squares left to clear.
Honestly wish I refused the S75 payment and got them to take the lot away.
Update 14-03-2020
It seems that there are a fair few others out there with similar experiences. Managed to get a reply from one of the business owners, added a screen shot to this post.
20-02-2020
I ordered carpet Gallop's carpet fibre and Gtech for our arena. 33 tons and 16 bags respectively made up the order.
Delivery was set for 1 day - it ended up becoming 4 days spread over a 4 week period, where I had to make arrangements to be around and to have a teleporter available for unloading.
Even though I had ordered 33 tonnes of carpet fibre there was no way of actually telling how much product was delivered. 2 of the delivery lorries had not been on a weigh bridge after loading the carpet fibre so had no idea how much weight they where carrying. Bales are not all the same even weight.
As we didn't have the full time use of a teleporter we dropped and split all the bales first before spreading. This was our biggest error.
After then spreading half we started to find large rocks, stones, wood, hard plastics along with lumps of metal in the carpet fibre.
We called Carpet Gallop to inform them - left messages - emails and apart from we'll get back to you, will pass message on replies we didn't hear from Carpet Gallop until 3 weeks later and only then after I put up a bad Facebook and Google review.
As the carpet fibre bales where all broken and in the riding school we spread the remaining carpet fibre over the 4 weeks and found no less than 45kgs of debris.
Not impressed at all with the product, the customer service let alone the company as a whole.
It took just over 10 months (Jan 19 - Nov 19) to resolve and this was via the Financial Ombudsman and with the Credit Card Bank I luckily paid with.
I cannot recommend Carpet Gallop or this product at all.
