Very expensive for what you get

We rentred the “Casa Crepuscule” in El Vendrell. I would like to review following aspects:

1. The house: the house is big enough for a small family like us (2 adults, 2 chilleren) however the house is absolutely not chilproof. Our little one 1y old could not play safely inside (electrical socket not child safe) nor outside (front terrace is very dangerous with concrete stairs).

The house did seem clean when we arrived but when you looked a little more it was not. There just had been a surface cleaning before we arrived.

The furniture in the house was very old but ok …

The outside of the house ( garden, fence) is absolutely not wel maintened which is a shame.

2. The surrondings: the house is located “in the middel of nowhere”. If you are looking for a restful place, this is the right one. However you’ll have to come by car and shut your eyes on dirt and filth. The area in question is very, very dirty.

Also the house is difficult to access via roads that are neither lit nor concreted. We even broke a tyre in a pothole. Finally, the house is accessible via very narrow roads on which you sometimes have to back up and give way. The local people are not very courteous or friendly with foreigners, which doesn't make things any easier.

3.The options proposed by CC:
We paied for bed linnen, towels, a baby cot, a baby chair, air conditionning and a stay for a small dog.

None of the bed linnen or towels were changed during a two weeks stay (or yes they did because I complained about the pool not being cleaned as agreed). It would have been nice if it was changed at Some point without having to pay for it …
Also the quality of the sheets was very poor. It was “paper sheets”, the same as in the hospital. I would not recommand renting these options with CC but taking your own sheets. Finally 250€ for a dog (almost 20€ a day ?!) is also utterly absurd ...

4. The communication with CC
The communication with Cc was Quick and reactive which is also experted when you do not meet someone in person (not even a welcome word - NOTHING). I’ve definitely know better in terms of welcoming guests.

Hi Alessia. Sorry to hear about your less than perfect experience. As a company, we are very customer service focused and we wish we would have known about this during your stay. The pool service comes twice per week, the gardener once every 2 weeks, towels and linens are supplied by Elis which is a worldwide hotel supplier, and our cleaners are trained to leave each villa spotless. We offer a cleaning guarantee and any complaints, we send the cleaners back no questions asked. The villa is located in a residential suburb, just 3km's to the beach and 2.5 km's to the town of Sant Vicenç de Calders. Most guests appreciate the tranquility of the location, yet still being quite near to all amenities. Yes, the roads are narrow as are most roads in Spain. We wouldn't say everything in the area is dirty, but it is indeed a more rustic suburb. We do charge for animals - 15 Euros per day plus IVA (tax). This is indicated in all our publicity and it's one of the options that you select while booking where the price is listed. Also, for this particular villa air conditioning is an option as well. We keep prices low for our villas with optional add ons. If you compare prices in the region, you will find that at under 200 Euros per night for a villa for 5 people with garden and pool, the price is lower than average. We offer contactless check-in, but that does not mean that we are not available. We have 24 hour local customer service via phone, chat, or email. We are here if you need us and for any issues, our maintenance team work round the clock. We also care about our guest satisfaction and within 24 hours of arrival, each guest receives an email asking if everything is okay with their stay. I have reviewed this communication with your account and can confirm that an email was sent on June 30th at 13:09h. That being said, we don't intrude too much as we don't want to hassle our guests. For your next stay, I encourage you to contact us beforehand and let us know your requirements. We are always happy to make suggestions based on your specific desires!

Bad Experience

Rented two villas one in Costa Dorada one in Costa Brava. If you need to reach them on the weekend forget about it, they don't work, sent us annoyng messages on the phone not to use the air conditioner in Catalunya summer, sent us to the wrong villa in Costa Brava, more a cabin than villa and ant-infested. And when moved made to pay for cleaning the villa we weren’t supposed to be in. And to top it all off charged us for damages we did not cause. My advice: stay away

A lot of our villas have air conditioning units and they are there for the use and enjoyment of our guests; however we do ask in these times of environmental consciousness that doors and windows are not left open while in use. We did not ask for you not to use the air conditioning; however we did ask for a responsible usage. For your second villa, it was the property that you selected and confirmed with us upon booking, but we were pleased to accommodate your change request the next day due to your concern of ants in the garden. We carefully inspect our villas before and after each check in and check out and pride ourselves on keeping our properties in perfect maintenance for our guests. If there are damages to the villa after your stay, we do claim them as was your case with the broken bed head board. The damage was proven with the time dated before and after videos sent to you. We do try to give our guests the best possible experience but at the same time we confirm that our procedures were followed properly.

Rented the villa for a weekend with a…

Rented the villa for a weekend with a group of freinds and we had a great time! The villa is really easy to get to from the station. We could also walk to the beach and all the restaurants.
The villa was clean and tidy and we also loved having a pool which was the perfect temperature!
Would be recommending to all my friends!

Lovely weekend at a beautiful villa!

Spent a lovely weekend in their beautiful villa in Sant Cebrià de Vallalta! The place has some breathtaking views of the mountains and the sea. The area is super calm and ideal if you want to get away from all the chaos of the city. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are super comfortable and spacious. The pool area is great for relaxing under the sun! Loved the whole experience

An incredible house in the hills…

An incredible rustic house in the hills of Sant Cebrià de Vallalta with the most beautiful views down onto Sant Pol de Mar and the surrounding area.

The house itself was clean & spacious with lots of natural light and modern appliances. Outside, the terrace is perfect for an outdoor lunch or dinner and the pool was perfect to cool off from the sun in the afternoon.

I will definitely recommend this property to any friends or family who want to spend the weekend in a beautiful setting to relax and enjoy the sun.

Poor service

As a consequence of the covid outbreak, in April 2020, Catalunya Casas cancelled our reservation. Given the circumstances, this was completely fair.

However, instead of offering a refund, the only options they offered involved a voucher for a booking within six months, or a change of dates (for an additional fee). Both were inadequate offers, given how Covid was impacting travel at the time (and is again now).

We asked for a refund, but this request was denied, on multiple occasions.

With my related flights out to Spain, both operators offered a full refund OR a voucher. I cannot see why a company as big as Catalunya Casas, and with such good reviews online, can’t do the same? Why do they get to keep our money, for a service they never provided?

Hi Conor. We would like to clarify your comments. At the time of the Covid outbreak in 2020, we did offer our guests a change of date for their booking or a voucher valid for rebooking with 6 months (meaning that the guest has 6 months to book new dates for travel). 9 months later you contacted us asking if you could rebook, even though the time period to rebook had expired. We agreed to this. At that time, you expressed a desire to re-book for either March or Easter 2021 which we agreed to but you didn't confirm. We then had no contact from you until October 2021 when you requested dates for 2022. We indicated that as a gesture of goodwill we could allow this but the new booking dates had to be before the end March 2022 (your original booking date was in March of 2020). This was not to your preference; however we feel that the options offered and the multiple extensions to the re-booking policy were more than fair.
