I was very nervous about renting a place in Oxford but Jordan Gibbs from East Oxford branch made my experience very relaxing and enjoyable. Jordan provided me with valuable information about renting that I didn’t know about. I now feel confident about renting in the future.

Man on the Job
The company is doing all right, but dealing with people in the Head Office when our properties are in Oxford sometimes makes things difficult for us. What has been very helpful to us is the fact that Tom Marriott takes care of the many of the things that have to be done with regard to the Oxford properties. This includes repairs, inspections, listening to any concerns tenants might have and dealing with them.

The representative Jordan Gibbs. He was very quick in finding a suitable accommodation for me and arranging a viewing. Polite and courteous.

I had a great experience with Chancellor and particularly with Shannon Townley. Even though I'd rather not have any issue as soon as I moved in my flat she managed to solve my problem promptly.
Rebecca was very helpful and professional at all times. She quickly returned phone calls and always kept me up to date on any advancements with the lease.

Very poor service, don’t trust this people. I really had a bad experience even I have spoke to lots of other people after this incident most of the people gone through.
All of the staff trained for this scam very well, this is how they earn money. End of the day you won’t get the property, they never talk about administration fee but you will get charged for that for nothing.
The way they deal with this situation, very unprofessional ignoring calls not responding. This is how the scammers.
Please don’t trust this people.

Chancellors has a wide range of properties up for rent. The agents are always answered my calls, even when I called them 10 times a day. The agent that we have been in contact through the renting process was Freya Thomson. She is a star! She responded my emails within 1-2 hours, called me back if she couldn't answer her phone and she was really helpful! She really tried to help us to find a landlord that would let our dogs move in with us. She arranged everything for us. I cannot thank her enough!!!

Tom has been exceptional during my tenancy agreement with your agency. Very helpful and always sorted out any issues I had in matter of no time.

- Our tenancy was delayed a week because Chancellors made a requirement for us to have a guarantor 3 days before tenancy start, after having had 4 weeks to process our info. The referencing process was then extremely frustrating for our guarantor, which made us feel bad because they were doing us a massive favour.
- Chancellors employees project a pervasive sense of "this isn't my responsibility", constantly redirecting us to other people in the business. It was unclear who we should talk to about specific issues - local office/head office etc, and when we asked for clarification, this was not produced.
- Chancellors have chosen to rely on lettingshub for references who are themselves a pretty terrible company to deal with, slowing and complicating the process

Emily Dinmore was brilliant!! When there were delays between our solicitors, she went above and beyond to chase up and keep things moving. Greatly appreciated, thanks!

My experience with Chancellors, particularly the letting manager Helen Wood was very poor to say the least. I first encountered Helen during a viewing in Oxford where she was unprofessional, late, and rushed us out of our viewing as she clearly overbooked the viewing times for that apartment. Since that experience I avoided using Chancellors again, which led me to finding my current property via SpareRoom UK. Unfortunately, the landlord informed me that they used Chancellors as their letting agency and I again was dealing with Helen. She again was difficult to work with and forced me to cancel meetings to complete paperwork within 1 hour or risk the property - after we had already confirmed the property with the landlord. I hope I don’t have to speak with Helen in the future and have actively told people to avoid Chancellors as a letting agency because of my experiences with her.

I think I’ve stopped being surprised when Chancellors lets me down or doesn’t follow through with promises. I can’t get more disappointed, because I have no expectations anymore.
We moved in almost a year ago and that’s when the issues started. The flat had not been cleaned and mould had not been removed as we had been promised in writing and even in the contract itself. Even the estate agent who gave us the keys looked confused about the state of the flat. Clearly, we wouldn’t want to put our stuff in a flat in this condition, so we rented a small storage space where we could put all our furniture, so it wouldn’t also rotten away. We were sure that Chancellors would help us out with the payment for that, since they are in charge of making sure the flat is in the right condition before tenants move in. But this was the first let down, they couldn’t give any help with anything: no help with storage, no help with paying for the storage even though they were the cause of the need for storage. The flat gets sort of cleaned within 2 weeks - however, much of the mould is still there and we are told that painting and re-flooring would be imminent, so we keep our stuff in storage (at this time we still thought we’d be refunded for the storage). But the refurbishment doesn’t happen for another 4 months and we live in a half mouldy, partly unfurnished flat for that time. Of course we think that with this delay, there must be some compensation since we can’t move in fully - but of course there’s no compensation. At this time we start to learn not to have any expectations. The flat gets fixed and it actually looks nice, so we try to forget about the semi-homelessness we’ve felt for 4 months and carry on with our lives.
But the cherry on the top is that, since the first day of the tenancy - now 11 months ago, we’ve also been asking for very small things to be fixed in the flat, like the fact that the shower head holder is falling out of the wall. And none of those things have been fixed. None. Like, I don’t know why I expected them to - but right now I’ve just sent my 3rd tri-monthly reminder and it just seems like comedy at this point. So this is why I’m writing this review now. I’d probably stay clear of Chancellors if I could. Cheers.

I really liked meeting Emily - she was very personable and flexible in that she took me to a couple of extra properties which hadn't been on our list. Her driving was excellent. My marking with 4 and not 5 stars is because I felt she lacked experience but clearly has the potential.....
Emily Dinmore from East Oxford branch showed us our new home and she did do a great job. She fully understood our circumstances having been let down by another East Oxford estate agent just prior to exchange, and made sure this was the right one for us. The transaction took 25 working days from offer to completion and she put her heart and soul into this. Despite a slight issue after completion, she made sure this was out right. Thanks Emily, and east Oxford Branch, will recommend your services
