We have known Simon Gardner for many years as our financial adviser. We trust his advice and do our best to follow it to the best of our ability. With his help our portfolio has grown very nicely. Brilliant help and financial advice from Byron Williams at Chase de Vere
We spoke to Byron Williams at Chase de Vere at length in regard to help with understanding the care system / care fees / issues around selling my parents home. He was understanding, extremely knowledegeable and patient. He spoke in clear english and explained things in a way we'd all understand - including my mum. Please be aware that any advice their professional provided will be charged irrespective of whether a product is purchased/investment was made or not, different from how other IFAs operate in this field. This is left vague, misleading and not clearly explained. Beware of signing any document, entering any correspondence with these without obtaining clear explanation of charges. We felt misled, were charged, charges were reduced on seeking clarity.

We go to great lengths to ensure transparency around our fees. Our charging structure is clearly outlined on our website — something few firms do — and our initial meeting is always free of charge. At that first meeting, we provide our Terms of Business document, and our advisers take the time to explain how and when charges may apply. Before any chargeable work is undertaken, clients are asked to sign a Client Services Agreement, which confirms the scope of the advice and associated cost.
We are fully compliant with our regulator’s disclosure requirements regarding charges, and we regularly audit both our people and our processes to ensure the highest standards of compliance are maintained. Our fees reflect the value of independent advice — not the sale of a product — and our advisers may spend a considerable amount of time analysing a client’s circumstances and preparing a tailored financial plan. That professional time is, understandably, chargeable.
I’m not aware of any reputable independent financial adviser who operates differently. Charging for advice - rather than being reliant on product sales - is a cornerstone of independent, client-focused financial planning.
While we’re pleased that we were able to reduce your fee once your concerns were raised, I will, of course, personally look into this case to understand what happened and ensure any lessons are learned.

Darryl Hoad has been my Chase de Vere financial adviser for 22years and over that time has provided me with excellent advice and support.
