Edit: Cheaper Than Dirt responded to my BBB complaint and resolved the situation. I'm surprised they didn't contact me directly, but I'm satisfied with how they resolved this problem.

I purchased an order of 250 Rounds of Magtech .223/5.56 NATO Ammunition FMJ 62 Grains 556B on October 31st, 2020 at 12:41 AM for a total order charge of $387.33. Later that day, I realized that I had purchased the wrong ammo for my needs and sent Cheaper Than Dirt an order cancellation request at 2:56 PM on Saturday, October 31st and included my order number with all of the relevant information.

OVER THIRTY-TWO HOURS LATER, at 11:31 PM on Sunday, November 1st, I receive a shipping confirmation email to tell me that my order is on its way. No response from customer service. Then 3 days later on November 4th, 2020 at 10:25 AM I FINALLY hear back from Monae McElroy, an employee of Cheaper Than Dirt who informed me that "Order 20831556 has shipped and could not be canceled. This order is scheduled for delivery on 11/04/2020." In other words, she emailed me to tell me that my order will arrive later that day (super helpful) and they couldn't cancel my order because Cheaper Than Dirt customer service is so incompetent that they don't reply to your emails for 5 days.

I emailed her back later that day (November 4th, 2020 at 8:25 PM) with the following message: "I requested to cancel my order BEFORE it shipped. I sent a cancellation request email on October 31st at 2:56 PM and it was shipped on November 1st at 11:28 PM, over 32 hours later. How is saying that it couldn't be canceled because it has shipped a valid reason? I want to return the order."

Now it's 16 days later and I still have not received a response. Absolutely appalling. My box also arrived with heavy damage, which hasn't happened to another package since I moved to my current residence 3 years ago (I have no evidence to blame Cheaper Than Dirt for this, but it is suspicious because their customer service is downright dreadful). And their price gouging is unbelievable. They are really taking advantage of people during a difficult time.

Yep they might as well get their stuff from China cause I’m not buying from them ever again just as I try to avoid any intentional China purchases(try to.) Other retailers did increase due to supply and demand but not as much as CTD. Almost double for a stag arms 556 rifle vs elsewhere, forget these jokers, even when things get back to normal.

Why are they price gouging so bad you have to be a total idiot to but ammo from them they want 59.99 a box for 45 ammo I can buy it for 17.99 5 miles from my house I just bought 9mm near me for 14.95 a box of 50 they are high priced definitely not cheaper than dirt

there customer service has lost understanding of servie, do not know what that is, more important and sader than that they do not know what customer is or means.
they treat me like i am lucky they sell to me they are doing me a favor its is a privileadge to be allow to purchase from them. they do me a favor and it is an honor they allow me to buy
they told me i was not allowed to purchase from them they cut me off and told me to take my orders some where else
they treated me like trash and i protested and stood up and defended myself. order sat on the shelf for 5 weeks, i canned to question and they gave me attitude. i tried to cancel customer service agreeded and management got mad shipped anyway and i refused to accept if they completed and shipped. management tried to abuse me and inteminate me and force me to take delivery,, i won the argument after a two way heated conversation unprofessional on both sides. the caved and did not ship but i nest orders they refused to ship and advised i was not allowed to purchase from they and they would not ship any order,,rud and unprofessional they are riding on a sellers market what will happen when market shifts....i researched and found 10 other suppliers that would welcome my money. today they told me thay did not want my business and not to place any orders. do no buy for cheaper than dirt, they are dirt in the attitude department. i will give you 10 online suppliers that would appreciate your business and money and say thank you

Ordered some ammo, they cancelled the order saying the item was not in stock after it was added to cart and paid for.
I looked the same day they cancelled the order and the ammo was still in stock but they had doubled the price.

I purchase a rifle, ammo and quite a few other items from cheaper than dirt just this week and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. I received a tracking number almost right away. The items were in stock and sent out very quickly . I had excellent communication with CTD and no issues at all. The rifle was excellent price and the ammo was reasonable in price. Yes I could have found it a little cheaper at a few other places but the cost of the rifle made up for the small price increase in the ammo. I don’t understand people who complain about the ammo being expensive. If you find it cheaper other places it’s your choice to purchase from them. I see CTD does seem to have more ammo in stock so the price should not be a complaint! My experience was A+++

Do not buy ANYTHING from this company. I purchased a shoulder holster from them and spent the extra money for speedy delivery.
Money was taken from my bank account but no conformation email . Returning to their website , there was nothing found that I had bought anything from them. Cant contact customer relations nor get an answer through their message site.

These people are the worst type of price-gougers, really over the top. Please don't send your money to businesses that operate this way.

Prompt communication and delivery but extreme price gouging.
Please look local/elsewhere and be patient as I was not.

Very disappointed - but my own fault.

The company has always sent the shipments promptly with no issues.
My only complaint is the PRICE GOUGING for ammunition. I have made 2 purchases that I latter came to regret because I was able to find it at well below their cheaper prices. Same manufacturers same grains. I do fault myself for panic buying because under the current political climate and possible valve shut off I purchased. These guys are not cheaper than anyone and should change the name. I’m talking almost half price both online and in stock.

They are advertising .380 FMJ ammo for $2.00 a round, yes $199.99 for a 100 round box. Talk about gouging! I will do no more business with a company that takes advantage of shooters.

If I could give zero stars I would. Knows exactly about the laws of states like New York, but choose to run with their tails between their legs. Can’t order ammo from here any longer, although it is 100% legal in New York State. And if I could, I wouldn’t anyway because the price gouging is astronomical. Funny the government tries their best to stop your average Joe from buying, say sanitizer or masks, in bulk and reselling at a fair markup but allow companies like Walmart, Amazon, and cheaperthandirt (does NOT describe pricing of items but rather the company and how it’s run) to do just that and then some (100-1000% increase is absolutely gouging). Capitalism at its finest!

I purchased a 20 round box of PMC X-TAC 5.56 from my local dealer which is a really small store for $9.99 last week & "Cheaper Than Dirt" wants $49.89 for the same exact thing. Crooks

Checked CTD's website for 380 ammo. They have a picture of PMC Bronze 380 ACP Ammo "300 ROUND BATTLEPACK 90 GRAIN FMJ 961 fps" for $99.89. When you go to the site to order, there is a QTY box where it states: Availability - Select Options for Availability. The only option that appears available is a 50 round box; which I stupidly thought, okay, their splitting the 300 rounds into six (6) fifty (5) round boxes. I entered (1) and ordered it about 5:00 pm MST. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I called them but they were closed. I called them at 8:00 am this morning Oct 15th as soon as they opened. Was informed that indeed, $99.89 was for ONE (1) 50 round box! Told the lady to cancel. I was informed that the order was shipped, no returns, no refunds. Further research shows the UPS label was created at 05:36 am on Oct 15. Hard to think a UPS truck was sitting there before they even opened! WHAT A RIP OFF!!

I ordered some AR15 parts from CTD...never again! First off, you pay $9 for shipping that the Pony Express could ship faster! Secondly, they gouge on a lot of their items. There's nothing cheap about this place! Thirdly, their customer service sucks! If you get through on live chat, you'll probably be chatting with some Habib in India who can't make a grammatically correct sentence! I'll never order from this place again! My order is still sitting in NC going on 5 days now...they don't give a #@!*!

Just don't know how they can get away with what they do to the people who buy (bought) from them. with a bad reputation already, you'd think they'd learn.
Not only are they the worst at price gouging, when they mess up an order, they don't fix it. They wait for it to go away.
We let them get away with it every time we send them our money. I haven't bought anything from them since march and i never will again.

Price gouging at it's finest!!! I have ordered from them in the past but I will never give them my money ever again. They are taking advantage of their customers during a pandemic by charging ridiculously inflated prices for both firearms and ammo!!

I wish I could give zero stars or even less. $1795.00 for a Ruger 556 when CDNN sells the exact rifle for under $900.00. That’s a full 100% more than their competitor. I get the demand and shortage of guns and ammo. I even get the fact that Covid (the usual excuse) may have affected supplies but gouging to this extent is ALWAYS frowned upon. If I had terminal cancer and CTD had the cure I’d still choose to die. It’s a matter of principle. Shame on you CTD. Change your website name to

I chatted with a rep from CTD and called them on their shenanigans and they quickly ended the chat. Truth hurts. Even if/when prices drop again I will NEVER BUY from them again. Consumers you’ve been warned!
