Scam or Incompetent?

Is this Chelsea Magazines a scam or just a terrible company? I ordered and was charged for a subscription to Racecar Engineering in November and it is now late February and I have not received a single magazine. I have been in contact with customer service via email and all they have responded is; 1) They can not replace the edition because it is 'not available'. 2) They have extended my subscription by one month. --- They claim that they have dispatched these magazines. I am wondering if this has something to do with Brexit and that whole mess... but, if they KNOW about an international shipping delay, why don't they just say that!?!?! I feel scammed. And the worst part is, the magazine was a gift and the recipient was very excited to receive this magazine.

Don't bother and save yourself the hassle.

Tried to take out 'an offer subscription' for 12 months for 'The English Garden' magazine. The website address given with the link to the offer 'cannot be found' according to Google. Having now read the other reviews I see why - either total disorganisation or total disinterest in acquiring new subscribers.

Direct debit scam.

Took out subscription for 1 year, Artists & Illustrators with direct debit renew. THIS company sends no reminders, no emails to say direct debit is coming out (unlike most other companies), and as I learnt today A NO REFUND POLICY. Will no be using again.

Little London Award, don't waste your money!

This is to review an award given by Little London Magazine. As a small business, I was looking at how I could boost my visibility. I couldn't find any reviews for this Little London Award which could have warned me that this was a complete waste of money, this is why I am now writing this, to help other small businesses in their daily struggle. The cost to enter the competition is close to £200 which could be spent much more wisely on google ad or similar. The number of visits to my website generated by the competition could be counted on 2 hands. The social media coverage by Little London was insignificant and more importantly generic, so there was never any mention of my company's name per say. All it comprised of was a link to the competition to invite people to vote, with a list of companies' names with no visuals of the products, except for a logo, which let's face it, no one will recognise if you're a small company like me! To see the products, it was necessary to click on each individual links. I can't imagine why anyone voting would actually bother to do so, unless they had an incredible amount of time to dedicate to this abortive activity. In short, don't bother!

Don't waste your time.

I recently decided to cancel my subscription 2 days after Chelsea took their renewal payment for next year. Incredibly they have refused to refund me despite no magazines being sent from the renewal, stating that they only provide refunds on the initial subscription. Their FAQs don't mention this and their Terms and Conditions aren't exactly clear on the matter. I can only assume that having £40+ in the bank is more important than customer satisfaction, repeat business and future recommendation.

I would avoid - overpriced and poor service

I feel like I have been utterly ripped off by Chelsea magazines and their opaque terms and conditions. I signed up for a magazine subscription at a toddler and baby event in good faith, and I did receive the issues I signed up for. Getting my "free gift" that came with the magazine was a lot of hard work and required a lot of telephone calls and emails to customer services, but eventually this came through. In hindsight, it probably wasn't worth the effort!

Earlier this year they rebranded and apparently changed ownership, which meant they were changing the frequency of their magazines and the charges applied. Their policy is to send a letter to inform you 10 days before this happens, and then to apply the change. This 10 day period is to allow you to object, but apparently they do not have to ask you to accept the new terms. I didn't receive this letter, so that first I knew about the change was when the money went out of my bank account. I called to query it, but apparently there is "nothing they can do" to give me my money back because it's in the letter (which I didn't receive) and in the terms and conditions on their website; because I'd agreed to a direct debit they had the right to keep taking money as long as they pleased because they could prove that they had sent me a letter (although they acknowledged they could not prove that I had received it, but this apparently doesn't matter). I'm very angry that they have taken my money and I am powerless to do anything about it. They have at least said that they will change my magazine subscription over to an alternative and will make sure it is not renewed next year. I would certainly not recommend this company!

Th English Garden magazine- Poor subscription Experience

Th English Garden magazine. They offer a discounted subscription and then increase your direct debit. Supposedly, they advise you of the increase on the address label enclosed with their magazine. When you query this with them, their reply is almost unintelligible. No apology from them, it is my fault for not reading the address label. I have cancelled my direct debit and they have have lost a subscriber.
