The administration of our Beacon View booking was faultless and Beacon View was immaculate and comfortable as always. The very hot weather was a bonus although it made the glass conservatory unusable during the day. Braunton is a delight and North Devon is glorious. Two niggles: We couldn't get the washing machine to work and I would recommend that the owner/agent makes it clear (in advance) under what circumstances they plan to visit the property during a tenancy.

I was also a guest at Poyers Farm last week and had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Choice Cottages - Ninette in particular who is one of the owners!! She was rude, would not reply to our emails or speak to us when she came to the cottage (we were waiting for her to arrive to speak to her). We went to their office to try to resolve and she would only speak to us outside which is the strangest behaviour ever! I did thankfully record our meeting on my phone and also have pictures and an email of everything we complained about (I have updated pics on the cottage review and will happily upload the video to YouTube and add the link) so people can see what awful service they provide and then lie about! I really do not know how they are still in business…..

Excellent service and comfortable stay in Devon. Property was exactly as described (if not a little better). Would be happy to use again.

Stayed at Poyers Farm in Devon for one week of hell. New born baby and a house full of bees. Choice Cottages were uncooperative, ignorant and rude. The owner Ninette Quinn was meant to meet us at 10am on our last day to discuss after ignoring our concerns but she just came in and videoed us sat in the garden waiting for her then walked out. The hot tub did not work all week and we reported it every day along with the bee problem and either got ignored or fobbed off. One bathroom upstairs. One en-suite downstairs that you cannot use as no seals and floods the room. One shower off the kitchen to use before going into the hot tub - advertised as a three bathroom house! You cannot use the cooker as wood louse fall out of extractor fan into your food every few seconds. Nearly £4000 totally wasted. Holiday from hell
EDIT following Choice Cottages reply can I just say that we have videos of every encounter to show we where nothing but polite, we have emails and texts of all correspondence and taped every call as we could tell by their rudeness and lies that they would try to turn everything around. We will be turning it all over to the correct authorities to take further

The Saunton Sunshine Cottage was beautifully renovated and the location great for golf and beaches in the area. However be warned that the adjoining property has a capacity for 17 people.
The first six days were peaceful - as you would expect in a cottage/location like this. Unfortunately on the last night the adjoining house was populated by a very drunk and noisy group. With hindsight I felt lucky we only had one night of disturbed sleep. Personally I wouldn't risk renting the property again despite the positives.
We have just returned from a week stay and we had a wonderful time. The accommodation was excellent, with great facilities. had great support from the property manager who responded really quickly to a couple of minor queries we had. Overall, excellent value for money.

Very rude when spoke to on the phone because the property was too small for our party!! Lied on review about us saying property was damaged when it was not! Also said I was rude to the property owner which again was a lie! I actually had a nice conversation with him and realised we were from the Same place!! Booked a different property to fit our party at extra cost and the electric tripped! When we eventually found the fuseboard it kept tripping every hour! Tried ringing choice cottages but got no answer all weekend! Never book with this agency again terrible customer service!! 👎
Looks like I’m not the only one that’s had a bad experience with this company! Just look nearly half of reviews are 1 star!! Don’t be fooled people! This company had more than £2500 out of me for a 2 nights stay and didn’t seem to want to resolve our problem just take our money! Stay away!! 👎👎

Fabulous well equipped cottage. Tastefully decorated, modern yet homely. Remote with stunning views, and the hot tub is a super addition.
Only negative is that the advertisement suggests there are 2 bathrooms. It’s actually 1 bathroom and 1 cloakroom - when searching for places to stay as a foursome we request a minimum of 2 bathrooms so this was our only disappointment.

Cleanliness and quality of furnishings was superb, the beds were so comfortable, and the kitchen was equipped with everything and more you would need with quality crockery, glassware and cooking equipment .
It’s set in an amazing picturesque village with 2 fab pubs, and a local post office/store stocking wonderful local produce
We were blessed with a week of sun, but even if it rained the entire week, I don’t think it would have dampened our comfort and fun!

Excellent customer service and booking process.
Easy to complete and details of property were great and informative.
When we had to cancel at late stage, they were extremely understanding and helpful. We will definitely use them again.

We booked a house via Choice Cottages prior to COVID. As the date fell within the first lockdown I asked for a refund which they refused and said we had to move to this year. The second date then fell within a lockdown period so we asked for the booking to be moved again to a date in October which they did, but sent an invoice for an additional £874 on top of the £1779 we had already paid. I wrote back asking why this was appropriate when the date requested wasn't in a higher season than our first date and asking if they would not honour the original price that they move the booking to a date in February. I have heard nothing since the end of February, I have tried phoning, emailing heaps, messaging on FB messenger, leaving a comment on their FB page, no response. They are holding £1779 of ours that they will not refund. Please be careful when booking through them, this is causing huge amounts of unnecessary stress to all our party over something that could be resolved in 5 minutes if they would respond.
Apologies, it was not meant to damage you but out of frustration of being cancelled whilst no restrictions in place .

Abysmal. Would not correspond about transferring a booking- we had to change due to due to COVID rules but simply wanted transfer not refund. We had to “trick” them into corresponding by one of our party posing as a new customer, to which they replied within 30 minutes. Subsequently, they tried to charge a huge amount more for fewer nights. We understand businesses have been hit hard but this profiteering is on a whole other level. Eventually got a refund after legal threats. Very unpleasant experience, avoid at all costs. Really short-sighted, we book cottages a lot and they would have got our repeat business and recommendations to friends had they been fair and honest.
Cancelled a holiday booked a year in advance with a few months notice via email, no phone call, no alternative options offered
Absolutely disgusting company.
Do not use these to book your holiday. I would give it no stars if I could. Booked a holiday in September and yesterday received an email stating that they had cancelled the booking. Refused to contact me via the phone saying they don’t have the capability even thought they did when it came to taking my money initially. Now after they have cancelled my booking they are refusing to returned the booking fee which is almost £400!
Not fulfilled their contact and literally do not care about the effect this has had on us.
Absolutely shocking service and left us out of pocket and now in a position where we can’t book another family holiday.
Had a booking through AirBnB which I needed to cancel due to COVID restrictions. The staff at Choice cottages could not have been more helpful. They sorted the refund quickly with no quibbles. Looking forward to using them again as soon as we are able.

Recently cancelled at holiday booked via Airbnb through choice cottages due to government restrictions over Easter 21. Following all the negative comments I thought it would be a challenge to get the refund.
Choice cottages have been fantastic responded quickly to emails and refund given, Airbnb however have been a little more difficult.

We booked with Choice Cottages for the second time in June 2020 for a stay in Feb 2021, our 1st experience at the Woolacombe house in Feb 2020 was fabulous. We paid the £364 deposit and they took the remaining £813 in late Dec.
'They' cancelled in January explaining that they would be forwarding "Vouchers" for the £1177 to be used at a later date... We told them on two seperate occasions that we wanted the cash refunded and were told in no uncertain terms that only "vouchers" would be coming our way and then we were ignored.... Thank the good Lord we paid by credit card.
We bypassed their ignorance and received every penny back from Mastercard. Please don't get frustrated, let your bank deal with them, it took 20 days, start to finish. Choice Cottages, as far as we are concerned are permanently in the bin.
Choice Cottages have now completely ignored five emails I have sent them regarding a holiday cancellation request. Their 'Terms and Conditions' state that I will only get a refund if they can re-let the property but as this is an extremely popular property and always booked up well in advance it would have been a near certainty that I would get that refund. However, they now no longer act for the owners and therefore will not re-advertise which means that they cannot adhere to their own terms and conditions that state they will 'take all reasonable steps to re-let the property'. Whether you agree that I should receive some compensation or not, the company's apparent policy of 'ignore them until they go away' should serve as a warning to anyone considering booking a holiday with them. Under the circumstances I could go ahead and take the holiday, which has been paid for in advance (£1,669.50) but I do not even know if they have cancelled the booking or not. They just won't talk to me.
User's recommendation: Steer clear of Choice Cottages and find a reputable booking agent.
Just got my full refund for February half term in Croyde. Don't normally write reviews but wanted to say the negative reviews I've read would have stopped me using the company. They were as quick (quicker) to refund as some of the large companies I've dealt with. Once lockdown is over we will all be clamouring for companies such as these to sort out our holidays. So give them a break, and please give these companies a chance to respond. Don't doubt I would have been the first to shout if they hadn't given a refund. Wyere nearly out of this nightmare, so let's give everyone a bit of support.
