A lot of reviews now are complaining about the poor turnaround time. One problem seems to be that they post their returns late in the day so it probably misses the post. I am only getting half the videos I used to get so effectively paying twice as much. If there were a rival service I would be gone. It's a great pity as many of these films are not available anywhere else. But I am tempted now to subscribe to Youtube as many are now coming on streaming. I don't think management reads this reviews.
I've been subscribed for approximately 3 months and have hired out some 30 BluRays/DVDs over this time. In my opinion it's a very good quality service - they process returned disks and send out new ones on the same day and almost always it's next day delivery. The only exception was over Christmas when it was 2-3 days. I haven't had any problems with Cinema Paradiso. Long may it continue.
Poor service.. never received films and they have charged me for the dvd…
Don’t have a vast supply of up to date films .
My list has over 100 dvds that were on at the cinema since 2019 which they don’t or can’t get , so it’s not great . Probably ok you want world cinema or older films .
Cancelled subscription due to the lack of availability of a lot of films, most of them are on streaming now anyway, but apparently I have to pay £18.99 to do this! Absolute joke. Also takes so long to receive films & the prices keep going up. Can’t imagine this platform can last much longer.
I've been using Cinema Paradiso for years and I absolutely love their service. I came across them on a Facebook advert of all places and for once some targeted advertising paid off 🤣. I used to love browsing Blockbuster for all the weird and wonderful titles rather than the big films that were released and I saw some truly wonderful (as well as truly terrible) films because of that approach... Cinema Paradiso has allowed me to carry that approach on all the way into the 2020's. Very rarely have problems with disks, but if I do they're always straight to sending a new one back out. I disagree with other reviews regarding complaints about turnaround time for sending films out - Unfortunately that's to do with Royal Mail. In the time it takes me to watch them I average two films a week and for the vast library of oddities and curiosities (as well the big titles) I'm more than happy to be paying £16.99 a month for that pleasure. Long may Cinema Paradiso continue 😜🤘🏼📽️🍿.
Will not use this service any more. Have lost confidence and dont want them having access to any payment method of mine.
Was fine service till they didnt send discs and charged me for them plus repeatedly rejecting my payment card after it had been working for years.
They are incontactable by phone.
Their email responses are slow, vague and dont solve any issues.
Dont think they tried to actually solve the problem, they just sent letters and emails demanding payments, even threatening me with passing me to debt collection agency despite me trying to cooperate completely.
I have had to pay them for discs never recieved by me and do not trust them to be honest or professional. Be warned, fine service while it works but if an issue arrives you are stuffed!
Been with these guys ever since they took over from Lovefilm. Never ever had a problem with them. They have an excellent selection of discs and always have new films as soon as they are issued on disc to the public. A+++
I'm hugely grateful for this company, as it has a fantastic range of physical media and is all in one place with one company. I'm not a fan of streaming (poor audio and picture quality with the compression and layout of finding things) Also he fact that there are so many different platforms which gets costly and hard to find what films are where. Cinema Paradiso has everything in one place with a single monthly fee. They have a huge and fantastic collection and I'm able to get everything I'm wanting and if it's never been released on physical media, I can probably live without it as there's such a wide selection. Good fast postage and distribution too. Highly recommended.
I recently paid to rent extra discs to binge-watch a series with my partner.
I had not received them after waiting for a week so reported them as "Lost In The Post".
I have had this issue before which was due to Royal Mail's worsening postal service but they eventually arrived, usually around the same time as the replacement!
On this occasion however, (waiting 3 weeks now) I have still received no discs.
As I have reported a problem with more than 2 of the discs (I paid for 4) my subscription has been "placed on hold" and I have been advised by email that if said discs are not received after 10 working days my account will be reviewed and Cinema Paradiso will write to me with the outcome??
I have checked their website and read various Q & A's and in order to rectify this matter it would appear that I will have to pay £10 for each lost DVD! This is absolutely atrocious as it is not my fault and clearly that of Royal Mail's.
I have been a loyal member of this company for years after LoveFilm and Tesco DVD Rental stopped trading.
There is no other option but to pay them. I feel like I am being treated like a thief as having to pay for the lost discs implies that I am not telling the truth! I am furious!!
Fantastic range - you're likely to find something you'd not heard of before that's worth your time. Efficient service and website. And nice to get something in the post
Two discs never arrived. I e-mail customer service - Inge from Cinema P replies saying she will send me two replacements. I asked if my subscription could be paused for 4 weeks as I would not be able to watch 6 discs within the timeframe and did not want to be charged for another month without having viewed the 6 movies I had paid for. This seemed reasonable as it was not my fault the first 2 discs never arrived. She either did not understand what I was saying or did not want to help.
I sent her another e-mail. She replied, "On this occasion, I've extended your rental period for 2 weeks."
After I receive the two replacement discs and send them back, I never receive any of the next 4 discs and I request the next 2 discs and a further extension as a result.
This had been their responsibility. She replies to me saying I am only owed 2 discs that month and no acknowledgment of the fact none have been sent out. She also does not apologize, she is overly terse and offers no sort of compensation.
I ask for her supervisor's e-mail.
Never got a reply. I sent her the e-mail on Friday 8th Sept 23. It is now the 14th and no discs have been sent out even though I am still owed 4. After 5 years of being a customer I have cancelled my subscription and direct debit. I have now been charged for a month's worth of discs I will never receive and I may still get charged for another month.
I suspect I will not be refunded.

Great service and great selection. If, like me, you’re struggling to accept that physical film rental is a thing of the past - then this is about as close as you can get.
Massive selection, you won't find most of these titles on any streaming platform. Great I love it!
Discs are taking a long time to get to me and get back to Cinema Paradiso. I put this down to Royal Mail. This is a relatively new development. Unlimited discs per month is very much not the case now. I questioned this with their "can I help you" bot but got a nonsense response. I don't know how much longer I can tolerate this situation. When the discs arrive they are generally in a good condition.
Joined when the weather turned rubbish for the summer. Definitely the best collection of content for me. So many rarer titles and bonus content that you’ll just never get on streaming. Get the trial first, feel that amazing feeling of receiving a disc in the post again and sending it back - it’s like nothing else! You’ll want to keep going. Thank you for keeping DVD rentals alive.
Cancelled my subscription. It was too expensive which I appreciate is caused my increase in Royal Mail prices. When I cancelled I received my final two discs on the Wednesday. I was then charged for keeping these two discs as apparently they needed to be returned by the Friday! Those are unfair T&Cs. To watch two discs and return them with the mail often taking two days was impossible. Shame on your treatment of a long term and loyal customer. They said now refunding but to charge in first place after such a short period is not on. I was also finding I was returning discs on different days and more often than not I’d then get two sent back together. I wasn’t sure if this was deliberate. Sadly I was a passionate fan but postal issues and increased cost makes it an unpractical solution.
I think most of the problems that Cinema Paradiso have are down to the postal service slowing down, and the tougher market conditions that they operate in. I, for one, am still grateful that I can obtain discs this way, and watch those extras, especially Blu Ray. I hope they last a while longer, as eventually the service will not be economically viable. A few years ago I could return a disc and get a new one within a couple of days, but now I'm lucky if I can fit in 2 or 3 discs a month. Still, I look forward to seeing their envelope in the post each time!
They sent my disc that the episodes are all mixed up the they are not on the right disc And Santa's Midnight Run is on disc 3 when it should be on disc 2 and also city of the light in on disc 3 when it should be on disc 4 and the And the Horns of a Dilemma i have already seen on disc 1 but its replayed on disc 2. So I complaint and they told me that they are on the right disc and give my a list so i got back to them and told they may say that but no they are not. They used to be good but they have they have gone down hill a lot there was couple of time they give the wrong film out like film 3 when i wanted film 1 and the try to blame me say that did I have them in the order list and I'm like yeah you could see the first film first I really hope that not all the season of the librarians are like this because it will make it very hard to watching in order if that as you only get 3 disc instead of 4 disc now so i would have to buy extra disc so i could watch them in the right order and if that happens will have to think if i want to leave them or just getting them of my list and buying them on amazon prime something that i diddn't want to do but may have no choice
They used to be good value for money, with prompt receipts and returns, but no longer. The monthly price has increased considerably and with it has come increased turnaround times. It used to be that when you sent the disc back first post, they received it the day after, sent a new one out that evening and you received it the next day, without fail. No longer. Last month I had a turnaround time of 9 days. Then a couple were OK, at 3 days, then the next was 7 days, and so on. The average now is I reckon about 4 - 5 days, so double what it was a couple of years back.
So I cancelled. I'd paid to the 13th and they received my last returned disc on 10th. But they never even sent another out despite the fact I had 3 days paid subscription left.
In addition it seems like more and more films were unavailable for one reason or another. Most of the time I'd add a film to my list only to find it had gone to the Saved list, from which it rarely became available.
If they buck their ideas up and give customers a better deal I might rejoin, but not otherwise.
