A disaster of a company
I took out boiler cover through Scottish power who sub contracted it to D&G, who then sub contracted it to City technical. Our boiler stopped working in late Nov at a time of -3° in the evening.
City took 3 days to get someone to look at our boiler and their call centre girl claimed it was my Hive system at fault.
When the guy showed up he found the pump head had failed so took the pump away, only to find he'd ordered the wrong pump head and so we had to wait 3 more days.
After removing the pump the boiler repair man did not tighten any of the valves and left the system pressurised so boiler water leaked all over my carpet and stained the kitchen ceiling below.
I repeatedly called them and were told that a manager would call me back. That was 2 weeks ago and nothing has happened.
The pump is now replaced and working, but we were without heating for 2 weeks with 2 small children in the house.
When I tried to confirm when the boiler would be fixed, the manager I spoke to was very rude and showed no concern for our situation.
I would never use this company again.
What a mess.
I took boiler cover with EDF, who subcontract to D&G,who then sub to city technical ltd. Including my annual service I had 4 cancelled appointments,I can accept that. I had 4 separate engineer visits to fix a problem, I can accept that. When the repair was carried out, he created a void around the flue inside. This was partially stuffed with brown paper and corrugated cardboard from the parts packaging and a tiny amount of filler? allowing a draught inside. When I questioned the engineer he told me that was it,that's him done???

This company is not to be trusted.I had my annual gas safety check to be carried out with city tech and they sent out a technician who did not do his job. This gas safety inspection has to be done once a year and it’s my landlord whitinch&scoutston housing association who requested it to be carried out by this company city technical. The inspection took place on the 4/10/2024 and the technician that came out to do the gas safety inspection did not do a full inspection of the gas appliance in my flat, and the technician failed to test the CMD detector and the interlinked smoke detectors.when I complained to this company city technical said that the technician did check the detectors and the technician didn’t put anything down regarding the gas cooker so they would have to come out again and do a gas safety check on my cooker.I got back to a Mr Callum McCulloch and told him I have cctv in my flat and if your technician said in his report he checked the detectors in my flat he would be on my cctv.I have reported this to whiteinch & scotstoun housing association but they have failed to get back to me regarding this serious matter. My message to city technical is stop playing with peoples life’s and giving them a false report on the gas safety certificate.Regards Mr Rees
If you could put no stars I would
If you could put no stars I would. This company have come out several times to get my heating repaired and have just made up reasons every time, they talk absolute nonsense. To top it off they have now broken my thermastat and are refusing to come out every time my boiler care cover tell them to. A total disgrace-Ombusman here I come.

Waiting,waiting waiting
Waiting, waiting waiting. 8 days and counting for part to be installed. Engineer is a name for a professional, these guys are a disgrace. Engineer arrived with the wrong part. I will be changing energy supplier away from Scottish power because of this shambolic situation. Can’t be more scathing.
Shocking treatment
What a complete waste of time this company is. I am with ScottishPower and this is who they use for boiler insurance and servicing through domestic & general. The engineer came out to carry out annual service and found sample pipe where he connects a diagnostic device to had snapped off. There was leakage of carbon monoxide at this pipe and he made safe until a new part could be fitted. I also mentioned an intermittent fault code that went down in his report. I paid domestic and general £99 call out for the repairs to be done and then get notified by “city technical services” that the job can’t be done because of an access issue. There was no mention of this from the Engineer on the service day. The boiler is in the loft and there is plenty access to get off any covers and casings although being in a confined space. What am i supposed to do apart from cut away joists and half my roof off to make life easier for him? To me he didn’t want to do the job because there was not 6 foot of clearance around the boiler. All in all it has been a stressful event for me and have cancelled my Domestic and General boiler insurance and getting my £99 call out fee for a job that was never going to happen unless i demolished half my loft. Domestic and General need to stop using these amateurs.
Horror Company AVOID…
I have insurance through Scottish Power, this company was appointed to fix my boiler a leak/drop in pressure… needless to say it is still not working, the guy that came out was a complete idiot and did not have a clue…. Now have to wait on them coming back out tomorrow and I’m 99.9% certain it still won’t be fixed… Complaint will be going in and I plan to cancel my Insurance that was a complete waste of money and time
STAY WELL AWAY
Used them for emergency callout. Currently 48 hours without heating or hot water. Plumber was clearly wanting to avoid doing any work.
The issue hasn’t been resolved
The issue hasn’t been resolved. The pressure is still zero and A04 error is still not fixed.
City technical services spend full day for nothing.
City technical services wasting my time and yours. They are not professional. Every engineer is belongs to Einstein family. Developing new theory every time they visit to my house.
1st engineer theory: boiler need to be replace. This theory was introduced on 03 December 2023.
2nd Engineer: Pressure valve need to replace. This theory was developed on 04 Jan 2024
3rd Engineer: This engineer was mind blowing. He spend over one hour. I have no idea either he changed the valve or not but he introduced new theory that thermostat is not triggering. This theory was introduced on 10 Jan 2024.
I am very surprised.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
This company are totally incompetent. We have had no hot water in our house for almost two weeks now and as its 2 days before Christmas I don't see it getting fixed anytime soon.
The first person they sent out without letting us know when they were coming I left the house for ten minutes to get my child from school I called the number on the slip put through the door minutes after the time written on it but they refused to return.
The second person they sent out had no idea what a boiler was as he had only been in the job for weeks and told me he hadn't even received any training.
The third person to come fixed the wrong part of the boiler so after he left there was still a problem with the hot water.
The forth person they sent out spent the whole time on Google and still wrongly diagnosed the problem but they still ordered the wrong part which for some reason took almost a week for them to return.
The fifth person they sent out told us they knew it was the wrong part that they had because a previous job had the same problem as ours but did he bring the correct part no because we were told he couldn't order a part until he came to see the property first which to me is an absolute con .
So any way it's 2 days before Christmas still no hot water and thanks to this company no idea when it will be fixed.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Avoid this company
On 1st November I booked annual boiler service through Domestic and General/EDF. They were coming on 6th December - the next time they had an engineer in my area. D & G later advised me that City Technical had cancelled the service and booked it for 22nd February 2024!
Avoid completely how they have council…
Avoid completely how they have council contracts I don’t know. Don’t return calls for appointments, turn up randomly cut off gas and then laugh when you call. Leaving me with no gas to cook, heat or wash kids and newborns in the house. Operator sniggered at this just repeating nothing I can do. Wrong information given a number of times, no managers available and just telling you someone will be in touch
They like to waste your time, then twist things to make them look better!
Told engineer would be here today between 08.30-4.30. He showed up at 08.20am, barely chapped the door. I seen van outside. Use the letter box so we can hear you! Give time to let people answer the door. I am disabled. By the time I got down to door he was gone & I wasn’t even sure if he had chapped the door. Then he sneaked back & put card through saying he was there at 08.25. But when I called them they said he was here at 08.38?? Absolute joke of a company. We cancelled the first appointment due to my partners hospital appointment but they still sent the engineer out? Now we have to wait till tomorrow now. Sort yourself out, it’s not good enough. Try improving your communication between office & engineers.
You you like needlessly waiting ?
Do not use this company if you are in Edinburgh unless you like sitting around waiting for a promised engineer who does not appear. I have wasted two full days waiting on an engineer to fix a relatively simple gas boiler fault. I made it clear that the engineer had to call me to tell me that he was on his way as I do not stay at the property. On the first day I sat around all day. I called several times but they could never get a hold of the engineer. At 7 pm at night I called only to be told that the engineer had been at the property at 5:20pm.... of course I didnt know this as he didnt call me as was advised. I was then told that they would "try" to get engineer to come AM the next day and I called at 9am to be told that he would come before 1pm. At 2pm I called and was told that he would attend " sometime in afternoon" At this point I raised a formal complaint and was told that a manager would call me to discuss. At this point in time (4pm ) I am still waiting on the call back and the engineer !!!
city technical engineer Darren was amazing
I've had a terrible experience with my gas supplier been without heating for 5 days even though I'm disabled and housebound
I phoned city technical and someone called Darren came out and although the problem wasn't city's he tried his best to help me
Eventually saying to contact my supplier again
Done this for 5 days and Darren kept in touch with me all the way through it to make sure I eventually got supply back on said he'd speak to his manager if I wasn't put back on see if there was anything they could do he offered me a small electric heater to keep at least one room warm
CAN NOT THANK HIM ENOUGH for his kindness empathy and understand wish all young men were as pleasant as him City Technical should be proud to have him on there team
Avoid at all cost.
Avoid at all cost.
Incompetent .Cancel appointments,no show and turn up with no appointment.
No communication between planner and engineers.Shambolic
Poor service
Poor service
They Carried out my annual service of my boiler on behalf EDF and it was not carried out properly.
I have saw many services carried out over the years on my boiler and know what it consists of when I complained about it I got absolutely no where!
My complaint was for them to return and carry it out properly but was told from the feedback of the complaint that they carried it out.
They sent a young boy out in February of this year and I explained that boiler only was recently serviced before I bought the property and it wasn’t required.
The young said ok I will just quickly look over and advised I call back in august when it’s due only to told when I did call up that they had carried it out in February which was not the case.
Doesn’t fill me with confidence now using EDF for boiler cover and will be taking me custom else where.
What a wonderful service
What a wonderful service, I phoned early morning as i had woken up with no heating or hot water. I spoke to a friendly poliet young lady Vicki. She took all my details an within a few hours I had a young gentlemen at the door to carry out my repair. He called ahead of arrival, followed all social distancing rules wore his mask was very polite. Fixed my boiler an off he went. Haven't had any issues since. Thank you City Technical Services for your prompt response and for employing staff with manners
