Full featured software

Full featured software. Would be useful if they provided backup and restore templates to make it easier for first time setup etc.

CrashPlan replacement.

Best CrashPlan replacement that I could find (together with BackBlaze B2 as the cloud storage target). Some issues with very large file counts with Hybrid backup, but I worked around by simply making two backups - one to local NAS, one to cloud, so in practice this does not really matter. Upside of doing image based backups too, so you can have both your important files versioned and backed up often and full image of your OS drive for recovering any disaster there.

Great Automatic Backup Solution for a Freelancer

I was having trouble connecting the CloudBerry to my mapped network drive to back it up to a B2 Storage on Backblaze. I replied to the introductory email from CloudBerry and a very knowledgeable technician responded, with relevant information within a day! The problem ended up being something very specific to my setup, and I was able to figure it out, but the fact that they were so fast to respond and with helpful information was a big plus.

Very fast technical support. Easy to set up with lots of options.

Detailed explanation for connecting to Drobo would be nice.

I wish I could write a glowing review…

I wish I could write a glowing review about Cloudberry but my experience has been less than satisfactory. Specifically, every backup to Google Drive has errors saying files (2) not found. I have searched for those "missing files" on Google Drive and my computer and I cannot find either one. I have written support and sent them everything they have asked for and the problem persists.

I find it ironic that the Cloudberry response recommends AWS for backups. I am an Amazon Prime Subscriber and I signed up for Amazon cloud storage. However, I have stopped using it because it would never sync with specified folders on my hard drives.

With Cloudberry it is always someone else's fault but, significantly, before you buy their web pages indicates their product works with Google Drive. Now it is Googles problem? I don't think so!

Hi Glen, I'm sorry for your experience, but unfortunately, Google Drive API at this point is not mature enough to be a perfect destination for backups. I'd advise you to use one of a more advanced storage services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Storage. Also, you can check B2 or Wasabi. They have quite attractive prices.

Glen, you are confusing Amazon Drive - https://www.amazon.com/gp/drive/about with Amazon Web Services - https://aws.amazon.com/. CloudBerry Backup works perfectly with Amazon S3 storage and should sync any folder you like to the cloud without any issues.

Rock solid software

I've been trying different software options to backup to my Backblaze B2 account with little luck. Most drop their connections and/or don't use all of my available upload speeds. Not the case with Cloudberry Lab Backup. I've been uploading large amounts of data for many days at a time with no connection issues at all. And Cloudberry is utilizing all of my available bandwidth to do so. This thing is rock solid. The interface allows for a lot of control on how and when you upload files. Which is great for someone who appreciates that amount of control. I highly recommend Cloudberry Lab Backup!

Got it working with Amazon S3 (with compressed files)

Little rough getting it going, but the logs showed me that I had file permission issues that I needed to fix. Once that was fixed, I got it going to Amazon S3. Does exactly what I wanted... compresses and saves my files to another location. The ransomware protection is a feature that also helps me sleep a little better.

Cloudberry backup seems to offer…

Cloudberry backup seems to offer exactly what I'm looking for; utilizing cloud storage without a 3rd party service, remaining in control of my data, advanced options (types of backups, retention policies, a variety of cloud storage options).
Only downside it that you need to spend a fair amount of time figuring out how to tune your backup plans to optimize cost to different use cases

So Far so Good

I have been backing up huge music folders to BackBlaze B2 and everyhting seems to be stable and reliable during the trial.

Looking to eventually replace BackBlaze desktop client with Cloudberry for daily backups.

Great range of features for power user

I have been using Cloudberry desktop for the last week as a replacement to Crashplan (since the removal of their home product). Cloudberry desktop is one of only a handful of providers that offer a solution that caters to my needs as a home user that has a large number of devices to backup on multiple operating systems (10 devices - Windows and Mac) to cover the whole family from data loss while keeping costs reasonable.

By having a large range of providers you are given the choice to choose a storage provider that meets your needs and price range. Despite all this choice, setup is a breeze with a simple wizard based process that is almost identical between the Windows and Mac versions. This makes it easy for even users with basic IT knowledge to create their required backup plan.
