Club Mambo = KIDS CLUB
5 years ago Mambo Club was the hottest place in Copenhagen if you loved to dance Salsa, a place for all levels from beginners to semi-prof. They even started every evening by 1 hours training in basic moves. It was fantastic. With all the wellknown latin music, most of the guest was singing out loud to the songs while the most hottest men lead the most beautiful women in long skirts and high heels, passionated around on the dancefloor. The air was just steeming from the moves on the dancefloor.
As a totally impulsive decision in a very rare visit in Copenhagen by night, I decided Friday the 7th of March to visit Club Mambo again with 4 friends who also very much like to dance. We arrived about midnight, paid 90,- kr. each + extra in the wardrobe (did not take a table for the 1.000,- kr. as we thought we came to dance Salsa all night). But as we entered the Club it was FILLED with grown up KIDS with a age of 18-25 ("on a good day"). No Latin music, no Salsa moves, no aldults dancing together as couples. Just all these young people standing in one huge crowd (shoulders to shoulders, as the Club had let in way too many people), jumping up and down like any other kids-party.
WTF has happened for you, Club Mambo??? This is a disaster! Letting go of the concept which actually made you THAT unique place to go for adult people in Copenhagen. So sad to see it is clearly only about box thinking today, and anything else but... the unique Mambo atmosphere. Can I suggest you to change your name today? Perhaps to...."KIDS CLUB"!
