1-Star Review: Bwthyn Beatties, Wood Village, Newgale – DO NOT BOOK This cottage is advertised as having “Wi-Fi” and “TV.” What a complete joke. The Wi-Fi is non-existent. With a young family; evenings involve winding down after a day on the beach. Instead we had screaming, overtired children because there was literally nothing to watch and no way of loading anything on any device. Mobile signal is also virtually zero in this property so we couldn’t even hotspot. We reported it. The reply? There wasn’t one....They didn’t even pretend to try and fix it. Since we have been quoted a clause in their terms and conditions that “Wi-Fi is not guaranteed”. Funny how they are quick to quote this, yet not offer any assistance when the issue arose. If you need internet for anything at all (work, entertaining kids, booking activities, checking tide times, anything), do not book this place. Management couldn’t care less once they’ve got your money as there was no attempt to try and resolve nor respond to such attempts instead there has been false accusations directed towards my family. Thankfully we had a second week through another third party which was fantastic. Save yourself the misery and book literally anywhere else. One star only because zero isn’t an option.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are very sorry that aspects of your stay did not meet expectations. We have already addressed your concerns direclty with you and been compensated for the disappointment caused.

The property does have Wi-Fi, and no fault was detected;
however, due to the rural location, signal strength can vary at times, which is unfortunately outside of our control. We did respond during your stay and have followed up since.

We sincerely apologise again that your experience fell short on this occasion.

We were very pleased overall with the cottage. However, we found that rubbish bags had not been cleared and there were some cobwebs, indicating that cleaning and dusting had not been thorough. The cottage is accessed by a long, narrow lane with a long stretch where there are no passing places, making it difficult to have to reverse. It is a good 10-minute walk, including a downhill stretch along a main road, to the very nice beach. We’d happily stay there again.

Cottage is in a lovely location but we struggled with how uncomfortable the sofas were and the limited crockery and glassware for 4 adults. We were disappointed with the level of internet connectivity throughout the stay and this should be noted in the details for the property. Television picture was also intermittent. The Welsh cakes and milk was a lovely gesture but it would have been nice to have had some tea and coffee on arrival. We wouldn’t recommend the property to friends and family.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

Unfortunately connection strength can vary in rural areas of Pembrokeshire I'm afraid. Please be assured we have forwarded your feedback onto the owners for their attention.

Kind Regards, Tamzin

We had a lovely break away, the cottage is really cosy and has everything you need, the only issue was technical, the TV on a timer,which came on full volume at 04.35, resets didn't remain so a couple of disturbed nights when we forgot to turn it off at the mains!!

I love Bwthyn Beatties. Every time I return I feel at home straight away. The location is perfect, such an amazing view and an easy walk to a spectaular beach, and the cottage is so cosy. The team from Coastal Cottages were incredibly helpful when I had a problem with the heating. 5 star customer service - thank you!

High quality furnishing and fittings. 5 star cleanliness. Plenty of outside furniture to enjoy the views. Couple of minor negatives. The seals on the upstairs bedrooms Velux windows have "blown" so the view is spoilt by condensation. The 5 minute walk to the beach is 15 minutes. Return is steep uphill.

This is the second time we have booked accommodation through coastal cottages of pembrokshire and they are very good to deal with and booking is easy on their website. Bwthyn Beatties cottage was well equipped, clean, and in a lovely peaceful location with sea views. We did lots of coastal path walks and the location was perfect for the walking we wanted to do. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed very comfortable with plenty of pillows to choose from. The television definately needs upgrading. It is tiny and I could barely see the picture from the sofa. It is very outdated and although we dont go on holiday to watch tv, if the weather is particularly bad or you are holidaying in winter the tv was definately not up to scratch !

Unfortunately the first impression was not good as the front door and window sills were very dirty but inside everything seemed clean although in need of paint in one or 2 places. We had a couple of issues that was dealt with promptly by Coastal Cottages but we did miss out on some time that we would have spent walking the coastal path. Despite this, we had a great holiday and some badly needed food for our souls, the sea!! We were very lucky to have chosen the heatwave week in March. The cottage is very well situated for access to Newgale beach and the coastal path in both directions.
