What a wonderful place to stay. We had a lovely holiday and the setting was beautiful. We'd definitely stay at the Boathouse again.

An excellent property in a fabulous location.
Second visit and the overall holiday was first class( Well done at Penally House)
We spent a lovely and relaxing week at this holiday property. Lovely area and can’t fault it at all. We are intending returning in the future. The Boathouse was fully equipped with everything we needed. Many thank..
The accommodation and its location was spot on,only one winge, the kitchen lacked work surface area, which was disappointing for a self catering property,as we cooked every night, kind regards Chris PS Did they find the spoon they thought we had taken 😤🫣
This accommodation suited us perfectly. As keen birdwatchers it was wonderful having a close up view of the Teifi mudflats was a real treat. Inside the Boathouse is comfortable, clean and well decorated. Kitchen area well equipped. Comfortable bed. Lovely welcome, as always, from the owners.
SECOND STAY HERE AS GOOD AS THE FIRST, LOVELY SETTING, CLEAN, GOOD CAR PARKING AND ALL MOD CONS, VENITA AND GARETH ARE A REAL PLEASURE WITHOUT BEING OVERBEARING, LOVELY STAY THANKS
Probably one of the most beautiful locations we have visited. Everything is lovely, everything is really clean, the hosts are helpful and charming. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we booked another week for next year the day after we returned from our last visit. Hot tip, take binoculars so that you can see the birds in the water. We saw Egret, Heron, Shag, Long billed curlew, Canada geese as well as endless ducks.
The Boat house is a little slice of heaven....
The Boathouse is in a stunning location next to the River Teifi in St.Dogmaels. Perfect for winding down watching the wildlife, your body adjusting from a 24-hour clock to a “the tides in, the tides out” routine. Great location for the St. Dogmaels market, a 2 minute walk away. A visit to the St. Dogmaels visitor centre and cafe is a must. The local community pub less than a minute away. The village shop a short walk up a hill. The place was spotless, with a fantastic shower, wood burner, patio and bench area overlooking the river. The locals are extremely friendly, you really feel part of the community. Book this, you won’t regret it.
This was our second visit to Penally Cottages, but the first time we stayed in the Boathouse. The cottage itself was cosy and very well equipped with everything you would need for a comfortable stay, and lovely decor. The highlight was the location, with the River Teifi as the backdrop to this cottage. Binoculars are a must - as you sit on the private patio area watching the variety of birds on the river, local fishermen up and down the river in their boats and, if you're very lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the otters. The location is a haven for wildlife. Veneta and Gareth are lovely hosts - friendy and informative with their local knowledge. The village of St Dogmael's itself is charming - the Coach House Café, duck pond, Abbey and farmers market are all a must! If you can drag yourself away from the sanctuary of the boathouse, you will find beautiful locations both in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. We loved Y Mwnt (dolphins galore!), St. David's City - the stunning cathedral, Non's Chapel and Well, Poppit Sands and so many fabulous coastal walks - catching more than a glimpse of the dolphins' playful antics around the coast. This part of the country is a nature lover's paradise and the boathouse in St. Dogmael's provides the perfect base. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
The boathouse is in a lovely situation with constantly changing views as the tide comes in and out. It felt like being on a boat as the water was so close at high tide! Only problem for us was not being able to let the dog out in the immediate area, which we did know about beforehand, but a tad frustrating at times.
Lovely property in a lovely location. Excellent hosts, highly recommend, including the community pub just round the corner.
Wonderful location at the waterfront and a tastefully restored former boathouse. Very efficient heating and log burner for out of season stays. Great views of the Teifi estuary. The best holiday cottage I’ve stayed in in over 40 years of holidaying on the Welsh coast 🏴👍
Lovely cottage, very warm welcome from the owners, 45 minute walk to the beach or 5 minutes in the car. The settee was not that comfortable to relax on after a days walking that was our only niggle.
Super location. Lovely well equipped cottage. Warm and cosy. The owners could not have been more helpful and welcoming.
Just perfect!
Beautiful bolt hole.
A wonderful location on a tidal estuary. A good stomp to the beautiful beach of Poppit Sands and the gorgeous town of Cardigan. The boat house is wonderfully equipped and we enjoyed our dark nights after busy days, playing games, reading and watching tele. Really comfortable bed and so blissfully quiet. Highly recommended.
