Breach of residential gas cap

Breach of residential gas cap. Effectively charging residential leaseholders a commercial gas rate. Unable to switch provider. Avoid at all costs.

Gas unit rate per kWh is more than four times the Energy Price Guarantee. This is against the Law.

The Company may not be in compliance with the Energy Price Guarantee, but four times higher than the unit rate is against the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
I am not a party to their energy contract, so I first thought a unit rate of 44 pence per kWh, exc. VAT is the electric unit rate.
Still high, but never thought this can be gas per unit kWh. In their invoice, one month of heating and hot water consumption for a single occupant was £436. On top of that, I also pay an electric bill for general utility consumption.
How can an energy company be allowed to charge more than four times the already current high prices? I replied to their email; I object to these rates and if they wish to charge at this rate they should bring a claim against me.

Just awful

Just awful, hard to believe they have any customers. Aggressive bullying tactics used. Prices out of control. I am in the process of taking legal action, as well as reporting them to the ombudsman. I will have my day in court, as you cannot allow people to bully, intemdate and force you to pay bills that are not yours to pay. I will also be contacting my local MP. As in the midst of an energy crisis. CEP (Formally south west energy) are just ripping their customers off.

1* is fairly too much

1* is fairly too much. Moved out from the property in August, and this company still charges for the services. Received a response from company representative Lisa after my initial inquiry, and then have been ignored after 5 email follow ups sent, including one from the managing agency I used to use. Now, out of nowhere I receive an outstanding bill of £400, like my inquiry and complaints never happened. Terrible customer service and no option to call from overseas.

Thank you Julie!

Very lucky to have spoken to a lovely lady called Julie over at Insite. Not only was she warm and bubbly on the phone, she also sorted out all my queries without having to keep me on the phone for ages. A matter that has taken 9 months to sort out she sorted in a mere 10 minutes!

Rates are currently out of control even…

Rates are currently out of control even given the current market. I have a two bed flat in Potato Wharf and they're charging people £190-220 a month. I was out of the country as well last month and still was charged £188. I strongly advise people to go their local council members to investigate price gouging.

Hot water charge £13.00 per m3 @BAQUBA development

CEP has since notified that tariff £13 per m3 for hot water was set by Baquba Management. Their role is to bill & collect payment only.

Single mum with 2 kids
Latest bill 8/9 - 10/10
Hot water 6m3 x £13.00 =£78 (industry norm is £10)
Cold water 17m3 x £2.50 = £42.50

Charging £13 per m3 is the legally allowable.

Worst customer care service

I left my property on 31st August and my account has still not been closed. I have called them 5 times in 1 month and the only response I get is that we are lagging behind on our emails and cant give an answer. How unprofessional is that. On top of that in the latest call even lied that the account would be closed in 3 days, now I realize that was just to get rid of me on that call.
Whoseover is reading this please change your utility provider ASAP.

Terrible customer service

I saw so many bad reviews about CEP high energy price, but I can't comment on this because....I still do not know how much they are going to charge me after moving into the property for one whole month!!!! CEP, when are you going to open your email box to register new resident? I have completed and sent you back the new account registration form 1 month ago with 3 follow up reminders email every week, but you have not replied me once. Are you planning to provide free heat water for me?

They are extorting us

They are extorting us, while gas prices out there are high, there is no reason why they should charge us double than everyone else at 0.42kWh. They profit from the monopoly they have with building developers. This is a despicable company.

I pay 50£ bill in August, for taking showers. It’s just a joke

Fake positive reviews - This company should be shutdown

Fake reviews! this is the worst company ever. I don't know why LM development use them. People should report them to Ofcom as this is extortion. £90-100 per month for heating and cooling? Isnt that electricity provided by British Gas or other providers?? They charge you whatever they want. It makes no sense at all. People need to start compaining.

Absolutely shocking company

Absolutely shocking company. We received a bill in March which we queried. The bill had no due date on it so we didn't pay it as we were awaiting a response from our query. Next thing another bill is sent with a £48 administrator fee on top of the original bill. Nothing was sent in between. They had terrible customer service I felt like they are just trying to deceive people to get money.

Edit: Following this review I received a call from the manager. To put the customer service into context he proceeded to tell me that 'I would give you a 1* review for your payment history'. Thanks for your help and understanding of my situation it's clear to see you care for your customers (sarcasm).

Reply from Communal Energy Partners

Hi Philip,

We always strive to provide the best communication and customer service possible to support our customers. This is why we have reached out on a number of occasions to resolve this issue directly, but have unfortunately not resulted in payment.

As per our payment terms and conditions, all payments must be made within the agreed timeframes. If payments are missed then we send a payment reminder and, on this occasion, multiple payment reminders.

We can see from our records that all correspondence has been responded to and the call with our Credit Manager took place in advance of this review. We would be happy to discuss this matter further directly to ensure that this is resolved and we can move forward with confidence.

Yours sincerely
