Seamless transaction and very fast delivery. Got Adidas campus in a colour no longer showing on Adidas own website, perhaps recently stopped that colour or currently out of stock. Delighted

Written by the company

Consortium was established in 1993 on the UK's south coast in Bournemouth. Defying industry norms from the jump we opened as an independently owned skate, sneaker and streetwear store offering an unconventional brand mix that took cues from the things we loved rather than the trends we saw. This deep-rooted personal approach to retail created a space that truly lived - as we grew, it grew too. Over 30 years of organic evolution and unparalleled cross-category disruption has positioned us as industry mainstays, we champion brands and product that reflects the subversive, free-thinking spirit Consortium was built upon from the beginning. Our heritage and contemporary categories coexist seamlessly creating a diverse and peaceful ecosystem that spans womenswear; independent publishing; skateboarding; technical apparel; limited sneaker releases and coastal outdoors lifestyle among many other inhabitants. In a world full of uninspired high streets, corporate ownership and “copy-and-paste” identities Consortium holds true, forever fighting the good fight, forever independent… Consortium is a trading name of 7 Ply Ltd, UK company registration number 06595005.

Great boots, shame about the customer service

My mum bought me an expensive pair of boots as a birthday gift. Because I don’t live nearby, she wasn’t able to get them to me until just after Consortium’s 30-day returns window had closed at which point we realised they didn’t fit. The boots are completely unworn and in perfect condition.

I fully understand that returns policies exist for good reason, and I respect the need for consistency. What’s frustrating is that we weren’t even asking for a refund, just a straightforward exchange for a smaller size. Consortium would have been able to keep the unworn boots, assess eligibility for an exchange and then send out a new pair in the right size. They would have been able to keep our money either way.

When my mum reached out to explain the situation, the response was a polite but firm restatement of their policy, with no attempt to find a middle ground. For a premium retailer selling boots at a premium price, I’d expect a little more goodwill when a genuine, reasonable situation like this arises.

Now we’re left with an expensive pair of unworn boots that don’t fit, and no resolution in sight. It’s left a lasting poor impression and neither of us will be shopping with Consortium again.

If you’re buying gifts for someone who doesn’t live close by, be very aware of how little room their policy leaves for real-life circumstances.
