Beautiful Hotel but Very Disappointing

The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the staff were lovely, polite and helpful.
The room we had (for 4 adults) was smaller than we hoped, the beds were not really very comfortable. It was very cold in the room, we turned up the thermostat but nothing seemed to happen or warm up. The room felt very cramped.
The view from our room was awful, a roof and construction area at the rear of the hotel.
The bathroom was also quite small.
Our room was at the end of the corridor and we really felt like we were shoved off out of the way.
There were only 2 cups and 2 tea bags and 2 coffees and even only 2 towels so we had to request another 2 of each. The room was not prepared for 4 guests.
The pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were lovely, however the staff in the pool reception area were quite indifferent regarding service and preferred chatting with each other rather than guests.
We are IHG regular customers and we used some of our IHG points to pay towards the room, and this is the first time we have been so disappointed which is why it stood out so much for us!
The room didn’t warm up at all and it wasn’t cosy in the morning either.

What was meant to be a 40th birthday…

What was meant to be a 40th birthday celebration turned into one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve ever experienced.

On arrival, I noticed other guests being offered discounts or complimentary drinks due to issues with the jacuzzi and cold pool — yet I received no compensation or even acknowledgment. The inconsistency in how guests were treated was frustrating and unfair.

The spa area was a letdown: the pool was freezing, the jacuzzi was out of order, and the sauna barely warm. We were told about the jacuzzi beforehand but not the cold pool — had we known, we would have booked elsewhere. Other guests said these problems had been ongoing for weeks, which makes the lack of transparency unacceptable.

The spa was also unmonitored — children were using the sauna and steam room despite signage clearly forbidding it. Basic safety and supervision were missing.

Dinner was equally disappointing. One of my guests has a severe gluten allergy and was reassured that several menu items were gluten-free — only to be told later that they weren’t safe. Even the mayonnaise wasn’t gluten-free due to mustard. This is a serious health risk that could cause life-threatening reactions. Incorrect allergen labelling in 2025 is inexcusable and shows a dangerous lack of training and care.

Service was polite but sloppy: four incorrect desserts, long waits, and inconsistent attention throughout. While the food tasted fine, the overall service fell well below the standard expected of a hotel at this price point.

The rooms looked nice but had several issues — loose shower and bath dials, ineffective air conditioning, and a high-pitched whistling from the bathroom that disturbed our sleep. Dirty glasses were left outside our door for the entire stay.

After spending nearly £750 on rooms, food, and drinks, I can honestly say I’ve had better service and comfort at a Premier Inn.

The only positive was Ibraheem on reception, who was genuinely apologetic and professional — the only staff member who seemed to care about guest experience.

Overall, the stay was far below standard, riddled with maintenance problems, poor communication, and dangerous allergen management. Hugely disappointing from start to finish.

Lovely relaxing hotel.

Stayed here for my birthday. Was a lovely experience and the spa is gorgeous. Rooms are nice and get tea and a biscuit which is nice. My only two downside ‘s were that we booked to go to the Windsor Christmas lights for 4.30. Check in which they state is from 3pm. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived a few minutes after 3pm, we got a drink voucher for compensation. The room was eventually ready after I had to go to reception to say we needed to leave in 10 minutes, stating that we may need to leave our bags there until we’re back. We eventually checked in at about 3.50, so a quick change and we had to be out the door again within 5 minutes. It was a Friday so rush hour traffic on the motorway, we ended up getting to the Christmas lights late and luckily was allowed in even though the tickets specifically say to be there on time/early for your booking. The other thing that delayed us is they didn’t use the card that was used through booking.com, I’m guessing for the reason that I had to pay £50 extra refundable deposit, It took quite a long time to return back into my bank. I didn’t receive help when trying to contact them about this a few days later. The reception was lovely and modern with a lovely Christmas tree. The bar is also a great little aesthetically pleasing place to be with nice drinks around Christmas time too!

Amazing event team

We got married at the end of August at Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross and it was an absolutely amazing day!

The whole event team (Felix, Varun, Trpuesh and Katie) were super helpful and patient and they made our dream wedding a reality! They went above and beyond for us (even helping us carry drinks up some stairs and adding more chairs to one of the suites).

We really couldn't have asked for a better team, better venue or better service. We would definitely recommend this hotel for a Dry Hire Wedding- you really won't regret it!

Excellent stay. Superb

I have stayed at this hotel many times, both through work and leisure. I always look forward to returning. A fantastic setting and great amenities. The buffet breakfast is outstanding and particular mention to Gabriela, the team leader. She is always so polite and professional and this clearly shows in her entire team. A*

WOULD NOT RETURN. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my fiancé.. NOT worth the money. The breakfast looked OK and was a nice selection however is tasted cheap. The restaurant there 1269 is over price and the food was also rough and small portions. The staff were friendly HOWEVER the women at the restaurant who work there didn’t have a clue and kept lying about what time the bar shut. The female staff gave me a headache and didn’t have a clue. The spa wasn’t great either. Our room wasn’t that nice either and the pillows and some of the bedding smelt musky and unclean. It looks nice in photos and from the otherwise and lobby area however it’s a bit of a weird vibe in there. Definitely not worth the money. Not happy with the experience at all.

Wedding event at Crowne Plaza GX

Had a wedding event at Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross. The experience was fantastic - Alison in sales was an absolute pleasure to deal with. She went above and beyond to accommodate us prior to the event and Felix on the day was there to assist with anything we needed. A great event centre can only be great if the people that make it happen are great.

Equally as attentive were the breakfast team the following day (31/10)

Keep it up!

Exceptionally good !

This hotel has recently been refreshed and we believe has a relatively new owner. We live locally and we hadn’t visited for some considerable time but needed a venue for a family gathering in the afternoon so considered the Crowne Plaza. What a fabulous choice that turned out to be. The staff were fabulous, all extremely professional in every department, afternoon tea was arranged, highly recommended - very nice scones - amongst other things as part of the afternoon tea. There is a lovely lounge, with comfy sofas and a very nice bar area with again more super staff. They were all exceptionally helpful and efficient. We were a group with relatively mixed ages so some used the outside terrace area, a nice addition, whilst others preferred the relaxed indoor comfort. We found the new manager excellent, everything ran smoothly, food was great and we simply couldn’t have asked for more. A very big thank you to the staff who made our afternoon very enjoyable.
We found this hotel very good, really hit the mark so suggest you give it a try !

Avoid this hotel.

After our stay we got the usual emails from both the General Manager and the Managng Director, Europe inviting us to rate the hotel.
The list of issues, some very serious, was so long that I wrote an old-fashioned letter to both.
Neither have had the courtesy to reply.
Avoid this hotel.

Not a good Gust Experience due to FB Service

The hotel is ok, after a long drive i needed a good food.I went to the Restaurant 1269 and waited for staff to assist me.One Indian Man with FB name badge ignore me instead acknowledging my presence he continue to input something in the computer and when he finished how rude to tell me " my Collegue " will be there.Insted of giving me a provision of reassurance. This man needed a big time Customer Service Training.I highlighted it this to Front desk and equally not making any reassurance at all.Went back to my room , very Hungry and i only eat the stale biscuit in the tea / coffe facilities provided. They should be aware of the customer focus, and attention to details is paramount for Customer or visitor's experience.
That Man should be put to Customer Training and and how to handle guest properly, shame!!
NOPE! will not go back there anymore.

Fantastic Experience at Waves Spa GX!

Pauletta you are amazing! A masseuse who genuinely knows the muscle body structure better than most.. my back & shoulders were in urgent need of revitalisation before a long haul flight and I popped along to the Waves spa at GX.. and job done!
The salon is ably managed by the charismatic Michelle, who provides the warmest of friendly welcomes..
Looking forward to visiting again on my return to London!
The highest recommendation!
