I felt this night away was ridiculously…

I felt this night away was ridiculously overpriced. The decor and style of the hotel was different, quirky and felt quite luxurious. For £500 a night I would’ve expected a bigger room and one without a shattered windowpane.
Staff were mostly unfriendly and curt and certainly didn’t go about of their way to be extra courteous and helpful as we’ve come to expect in good quality hotels.
The young waiter at breakfast was trying his best and I recognised his effort. Only a continental breakfast was included in the price of our stay which was disappointing. Especially as the fruit salad wasn’t fresh! It tasted awful and was fizzy!
The English restaurant was pleasant. We couldn’t get a table in the Thai restaurant. It was still very expensive for a two course meal and two cocktails at £165.
The Thai massage wasn’t what I expected. No communication and although not awful, I was unable to communicate my preference to the masseuse due to a language barrier. Massuese was also not particularly friendly but wasn’t rude.
In all, everything fell short of my expectations and I feel quite disappointed by our experience

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Unable to dine there at the Thai in Beaconsfield as we were double booked…
37 weeks pregnant, had travelled for 40 minutes. We learnt our table needed to be returned in 1hr15. No attempts to take our food or drink order in first 30 mins. Staff told us “it was not their fault” and that they could not delay the subsequent booking in case they complained! We left and had a delicious meal at Giggling Squid at half the price!! Have not witnessed such appalling customer service in my life

This place is pretty bad, I can't lie. So disappointed

I don't know where to start with this place. I will start with the little they got right I suppose.

The place does look nice, the rooms are pretty standard (we had the deluxe room) and it was still pretty standard but it did look nice and it was very clean to be fair.

Though the rooms had hardly any wardrobe at all, no fridge, no tea making, the shower turned the place into a small swimming pool and you best watch how you step on those tiles.

We booked as part of the virgin experience, if you come, avoid that at all costs. We got dinner included, we'll the Thai is just really awful, the set menu is limited and really bad, worst meal I had in years. We asked to upgrade to the other menu but we got denied.

The drinks are way over priced, and limited. No draft beer, only bottles. We got the more expensive wine, £12 per glass, and it wasn't great.

We went for some drinks after dinner, and it's a table service at the bar, we went in and they let anyone come in from the street, so no place to sit in the bar area, we had to sit nearly outside in a marquee type thing and my wife was freezing.

So we thought at least breakfast is paid for and let's hope that was nice.

Well it's not, toast, orange juice, cereal and stuff is included, breakfast is not.

So I made up a breakfast (menu poor once again) and it was a bit of a joke really what you got. They got my order wrong anyway, but I asked for eggs, they didn't ask how I wanted it, just came out scrambled, forgot the sausage, the hashbrowns you could use for disc throws in the Olympics and the very very small pot of beans (for £2 by the way) was laughable.

I'd never return and we have booked the inlaws to come (oh dear)

If you want to come, I'd go for only the rooms. Go out and find other restaurants, go find another place to drink. Then it might be worth it, not sure.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Terrible service we booked the Thai restaurant it was so bad they put us on this table by the fire exit my partner had to sit with his leg on the fire exit steps as there was no room. The waitress was rude. We was so squashed and also sitting right next to another couple with a tiny pillow in between me and the man.
Outside in the garden area there was people smoking weed that seemed like locals rough young people. I do not usually complain but I wish I read the reviews before hand.

Crazy ripoff more like!

Having eaten at the Crazy bear Stadhampton a number of times over the last ten years and experienced great food in a unique setting, the family (11 of us) were exited to be going here for Christmas dinner '23. Unfortunately the day was a complete shambles, and if it wasn't for their outsourced band, I think the whole restaurant would have left!

The table hadn't been laid properly with napkins and glasses missing. We had to ask twice for some napkins.

We got the starter after about 45 minutes, then had to wait over 2 hours for the main course, with our dirty plates from the starter in front of us the whole time! The kids were so starving (as were the adults) that one of the party had to walk to the main bar and ask for some bar snacks to keep them from keeling over!

When the main course eventually came out (after asking 3 times how long it'd be) some of the party had the wrong meals (but they were so hungry they just ate what they were given). The meal portion was tiny, and worst of all cold. We had to ask for the veg as nothing arrived, then one small bowl arrived 10 minutes later for 11 people!

We also asked for some gravy, as the food was so dry....never arrived. The cheesecake was so dry it absorbed all the moisture in your mouth, so nobody managed to eat it.

The head waiter didn't know his ass from his elbow, had no idea what wine they were selling, and the contracted staff were terrible, clearly they had no idea what they were doing and it was a complete let down.

I was waiting to give this a 2 star review, but having complained to the Crazy Bear (on Boxing day) management who have completely ignored my emails, I've lowered it to a 1. In fact I'm so peed off with the waste of money this day was, I'd give it negative stars if I could.

None of us will ever be going back here ever again. What a complete let down for us and many more that chose to celebrate Christmas day here.

Hungry horse would have been better, at least you'd expect it to be t u r d!

If I could score minus I woukd

If I could score minus, I would.
Bought two balloon experiences in August. We tried to book these as per T&C on the vouchers to be told that no dates were available and they would be in touch.
Several calls and mails later we were promised they would contact us with new dates....
Fast forward 3 months to today, no answer on telephone, no answer to messages. I mailed threatening trading standards involvement to suddenly get a mail saying they nolonger do the experiences and the dealtails are sent to another company who " should" honour the vouchers.
Had I not pestered I would be non the wiser.
Absolute joke of a company.total scam artists, avoid at all costs.

Booked for New Years eve

Booked for New Years eve. Overpriced (massively in my opinion) for a below standard room. Smaller than average for the room size and would have got a decent 5 star in London. As for the evening, over 1.5 hours to get a drink. Staff did try to resolve but unsuccessfully, to make it worse, one of the management turned his back and wouldn't take the confrontation to support and resolve. As a result, ended up spending New years eve watching fireworks in the room!!!!! With what we spent behind the bar early on and room costs me and my friends who travelled with us are probably £1500 lighter in the pocket. Totally disappointing and wouldn't go back......

Disappointing meal and reaction from the manager! Do not have the burgers, dry, sauce-less, cheese-less, tasteless! We complained but manager did not even have the courtesy to come and speak leaving the young waitress in very awkward position. We paid the rather large bill and left. Used to be regulars and have had great meals but something has changed for the worse and we will be avoiding from here on.

Awful avoid at all costs

Arrived at 2.45pm to be told our room wouldn’t be ready til 4pm as that’s check in time, fair enough but we stayed in many 5 star hotels in London around the world and always managed to check in earlier, 4pm is ridiculous I believe they do this as they tell you to wait in the bar & then you buy drinks in the bar whilst you wait !
They take our luggage and put our suit carriers in a nearby cupboard & tell us that they will be taken to our room when ready.
Fast forward to 4pm we check in to room 37, £400 a night - room is nice but impractical, dark & small - with slip bath & funky tap with water running from the ceiling.
NO tea/coffee making facilities
NO mini fridge
NO windows
NO actual drawers or real type of wardrobe to hang out clothes !!
NO actual place to get ready and our bed was right by the door so we could hear everyone traipsing past our door.
They had NOT delivered all our luggage to our room & we were left to track down my husbands suit jacket in a carrier, that’s just the start of it ….
Next husband birthday dinner which was so disappointing, the service was beyond APPALLING our waitress wasn't very good & didn’t have any waitressing skills we were given a table for two on the end that felt like a corridor with hubbys chair being continuously knocked & full of people with vouchers ?!!! it took 30 mins for her to remember our bottle of water & bread ! She seemed to forget everything!!! forgot my husbands starter too of cold duck which took over 35 mins to come for a cold dish that just needed plating up !! She tried to tell us it needed to be cooked fresh but it was a cold dish !!! She literally forgot our table all together, NO stand for champagne bucket so had to keep trying to get hold of a waiter for them to refill as there was NO room on the table to keep it there so champagne got took away ! continuously trying to flag down a waiter to refill your glass is annoying & definitely not 5 star service at all plus they all ignore you !!!! And then after an hour I’m told our mains will be coming out shortly and we received hot plates ready some 15 minutes later still NO food has come out and our hot plates are COLD At this point I’m sick of listening to the waitress say sorry for getting everything wrong. She tells me it’s her mistake and she got it wrong !!! How can you get that wrong ?! Either the foods ready or it’s not ?!!! Anyway after 1 hour and 20 mins our food finally arrives. The food is good (tomahawk steak & lobster to share )but the night is ruined and my husband whose birthdays meal this is has gone back to the room. What was supposed to be a luxury stress free meal just wasn’t & quite probably the worse service I have ever received, staff clearly don’t want to be there! And if you are understaffed don’t take people with vouchers & look after guests first.
Lots of tables around us weirdly had vouchers or groupon which is bizarre NO 5 star restaurant in the land does vouchers !!!! That really should tell you all you need to know & bizarrely these tables had food when we FULL PRICE PAYING HOTEL GUESTS did not !!!!!
Service is NOT that of a 5 star hotel it is lacking in lots of areas and at best should be a 3 star hotel. We spent approx £800 here but could have gone to London and got a better experience.
The bill was discounted for our inconvenience & service charge removed which was appreciated but really wasn’t the point I just wanted my husband to have a great birthday experience & it just wasn’t !!!
DO NOT STAY HERE

Really bad experience

We used a Groupon voucher for my Birthday. It was a seven course signature menu. We were taken to our table and the waiter was pleasant, we were given the menu for what our voucher covered. We waited then for our order to be taken and waited even longer for the 1st course, then waited ages again for each course. The last 2 course the waiter eventually came up apologised for such a long wait, eventually got one of the last courses, and then again had a long long long wait, the waiter came to us again apologising even offered us a free drink for waiting so long. We were there three & half hours when the the food would have taken possibly an hour, the rest was waiting. The waiter did say they would take off the service charge.
Then both me and my husband had bad stomachs so not a great experience would not go back in a hurry 🤬

Avoid at all costs. Possibly the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Happy to sell discount vouchers via Groupon and then hide behind the small print to not honour them. Disgraceful service

Brought a lunch for 2 costing almost £60, could not redeem online, called up several times and no answer
Groupon said it was valid until end of November so at the start of November tried again to book, again with no luck. Emailed and was told that my voucher was no longer valid as I needed to book a month ahead, this was really not clear on groupon app, crazy bear say its tough luck, they will take my money and that's that. They did not say this was because they are booked up etc simply because they can con me. Groupon say my voucher is still valid but yet I can't use it. Crazy bear is a company who are a rude and greedy business trying to catch people out and profit from it. Disgusting.

Avoid if you value your happiness

No wonder this place is rated a 2.2 on trust pilot. Disgusting service, obnoxious and incompetent staff and the food is awful. The best part about this place is the toilets and even they could do with a clean, as could some of the staff. Filth!

You would be CRAZY to stay there

The room was really dirty, sticky floor, sticky plastic headboard. You could write your name in the dust on the blinds on the window that didn't open. Staff were really rude and msierable, it seemed like we were a nuisance. Toilet didn't flush and managers were unresponisve. Avoid at all costs, there are much nicer five star luxury hotels at a cheaper price too! I am still waiting for my emails to be acknowledged by the manager 4 months later..

Don't book a balloon flight if you want to fly anytime soon.

This is a review of the hot air balloon flights advertised by Crazy Bear.

We booked a flight for my Dad's 90th Birthday for April this year, so far they have cancelled the flight 8 times and the next available date is now next year.

I know they have to be aware of weather conditions, but my issue is that once your first flight is cancelled, you go to the back of the queue, as they keep selling flights, so anyone who books after you will get the next available flight, not you.

Once a flight is cancelled, no more bookings should be taken untill everyone who has already paid has had their flight.

Once booked, even if they cancel 8 times, you can not get a refund.

So we have 2 options, wait and see if they manage to find a flight when they restart next year, or write of a few hundred pounds and rebook with a more responsible company.

I was gifted a voucher for a hot air balloon ride in July, they have cancelled 3 times, and now will not release my voucher. The flying conditions where perfect on 10 October 2023, but they told me the visibility was very poor due to low cloud. The sun is shining, hardly any clouds.

Had such a lovely birthday stay here with champagne afternoon tea. This was our second time as we do love the crazy bear! The staff were friendly as normal and allocated us a lovely suite which was based outside and added to the great experience. We love love love the food here and have no complaints at all! Will definitely be back soon :)

Don't try this experience!!!

I had a voucher for one person for hot air baloon,i upgraded for 2 people paying a lot of money for this experience ...After cancelling twice ,the next availability will be in 2024. I bought from red letter days and unfortunately i couldn't get a refund or change for another experience as The crazy hot air baloon won't refund the money.
To get in touch with them is nearly imposible and customer service not helpful.
Very disappointed.

Outstanding

Although our original flight was cancelled due to thunder warnings, we found the customer service second to none - with helpful staff throughout assisting us to re book with no issues for just a few days later. Their customer service is excellent - I have no idea what the bad reviews are about - of course cancelations are frustrating but it is the companies responsibility to keep customers safe - so we had no issue with this. Outstanding. The ride itself was an incredible experience - the pilot answered all questions and provided an excellent tour over Oxfordshire. All in all I would 100% recommend and would go again in a heartbeat. Thank you to all the staff with both the hot air balloon and the hotel - couldn't have asked for anything more and nothing was too much trouble.
