CSSC Life, a real benefit for everyday wellbeing
I’ve found the new CSSC Life wellbeing platform genuinely helpful and easy to use. The resources are well laid out and cover a good range of wellbeing topics, which makes it simple to dip in when I need to. It feels practical rather than overwhelming, and I like that it’s clearly designed with real life in mind. A valuable benefit that I’m glad I’ve used, particularly the 'Journey' function to keep me on track!
Cashed in over £330 from CSSC savings
I just cashed in over £330 from my CSSC savings cashback account! It's taken me a year to save up, with just a few pence here and a few quid there from each of my transactions, it's easily mounted up to help pay for Christmas. It takes just a few minutes to upload a voucher while standing at the checkout, saving money on purchases I'd be making anyway. No big purchases this year, just supermarket groceries and the odd treat. Can't recommend highly enough, it's free cash.
Great benefits and offers
I mostly use my CSSC membership for good cinema discounts at Cineworld, Odeon and Picturehouse. I also made use of the free entry to Kew Gardens and English Heritage sites such as Chiswick house and gardens over the summer which was great
Opened up a feast of savings
I joined one of their Active Wellbeing Digital events along with some of my office colleagues. Really easy and it did get us to take our exercise a bit more seriously I have since joined CSSC and have used their discount to take my kids to London Zoo over the summer - brilliant. and I hope to get to the theatre soon.
Networking
The networking opportunities with other civil servants across the country are fantastic and worth the membership alone. On top of that, it’s so easy to get your membership fee back – and then some! I save every week on grocery shopping, bigger purchases, and use the cashback as a Christmas saver. I also save on my gym membership and take part in CSSC’s brilliant active wellbeing initiatives. The value and benefits just keep adding up – highly recommended!
Not that Great
Used to be good, with offers like free entry to the London Towers, but now a relatively pointless organisation, expect for cheap movie tickets. English Heritage OK if that is your bag, but apart from that it is mostly just 10% off stuff, which you can get from pretty much any online discount advert.
Unless you are a regular movie goer to the Odeon Cinemas probably better off saving your money
Poor website and account setup
Poor website and account setup.
Was close to rejoining but just gave up as the verification code would not work, requested another but it did not arrive.
Previously found their unsolicited and unnecessary phone calls rather irritating.
Feeling discriminated against
I recently renewed my membership and discovered that as of now I must pay extra for a membership card, instead I have to have some sort of e-card in a mobile phone wallet. I have a movement disorder (essential tremor) which makes using a smartphone a nightmare, so I feel as though I am being discriminated against by CSSC. I wonder if they have done an equality impact assessment as required by law for this change? Very disappointing.
Don't waste your money
Don't waste your money. I am really disappointed with CSSC. I have paid £5 for over a year and recently found out that my account hadn't been opened properly by them as it was set up as a "guest account". I have tried on numerous occasions to set up an App but was previously told that they don't have one. The fact is that there is one but I couldn't access due to their error. I have tried to sort this out - phone not answered, call gets cut off, numerous emails etc. I was eventually asked to provide some identification which I was about to do. I politely requested compensation for all the time and effort I have taken to resolve the problem - it was flatly refused.
Sports & Activities
What an amazing sports programme on offer. There is really a sport for everyone. I took part in the football session in London with lioness Niamh Charles which was such a great experience. I am now looking forward to taking part in the 5-a-side at St Georges Park! I have also used other offer to get into Kew gardens for free, go the Hampton Court summer festival at a huge discount, get cashback on my petrol and get cashback from my Garmin watch. Only good things to say.

I don't have a positive feeling about…
I don't have a positive feeling about CSSC. To me it seems like they want to get you for your £5/month but don't get much in return. They claim members save hundreds of pounds a year, but given the discounts that I looked only cover 10% off, I struggle to see how this is the case.
Would not recommend getting CSSC membership.

I have been a loyal member for over a…
I have been a loyal member for over a decade & built up a considerable Cashback sum - went to get this & it’s gone! Lost a lot of money I can’t afford to. Contacted the company who operate the scheme who failed repeatedly to answer my queries about where it has gone & after weeks & numerous emails including a sales pitch about how much I could save (insulting given I’ve been robbed) told they’d suddenly decided to activate their 12 month automatic cancellation of Cashback policy (even though my Cashback didn’t meet this criteria so very random) & members were informed but I don’t recall this & cannot find any emails to verify this - surely more direct contact should’ve been made for those with larger amounts? I contacted CSSC after email went unanswered & limply told sorry & cancel via your salary provider & Cashback is lost!! Robbed. All well & good to say you can save money but used to get things like tastecard as part of membership which has gone & Kew isn’t accessible for me so will get my discounts elsewhere

Big Team Challenge
I have been a member for over a decade. Participated in a number of events in my early years and volunteered to run events myself. Since Covid the offer has dropped off and I have been too busy to volunteer as often, as it can be a big time commitment.
The reason for my 1 star review is the farcical CSSC Big Team Challenge. They offered a free OS maps subscription to those who took part. But without telling anyone the number of free subscriptions were capped. When I applied for mine I was told the limit had been reached. However the CSSC Big Team Challenge had been open to non-members along with this offer. So CSSC may have been paying for this benefit for non-members while not honouring it for their own. I raised the issue with the CSSC contact but no-one from CSSC could be bothered to get back to me.

Great Value For Money
Easy to use and great value for money. Signed up a few months ago and saved around £100 using the Kew Gardens entry and free English Heritage offers :)

Saving money and getting involved
I have saved so much money through being a CSSC member over the last few years. When I changed departments, I made sure I could still be a CSSC member so I didn't miss out. I love the competitions they have and also the local activities.

My local offer in East Kent…
My local offer in East Kent is very good, a lot of very good local events arranged , with days out , local theatre tickets and discounts just some of the highlights .
They have an active Facebook group and always aim to help the members .
With English Heritage and local cash back offers its a bargain

Disappointing and poor customer service
I was a member for 3 years. I mainly used the cashback facility. There are numerous hidden costs, and many of these are now available from other places cheaper / for free. The number of other member offers has definitely declined during my membership. I've needed help with a few things over my membership and generally the customer service has been poor, especially the recent cashback debacle which others mentioned. I certainly wouldn't recommend.

Thanks for rectifying the cashback error. I appreciate this wasn't your fault, but your suppliers. So, well done for getting on top of this quickly and restoring my hard-earned cashback and my faith.

Do not sign up
Re-activated my account, couldn’t log on. Phoned and emailed, all reactivated they said and new DD set up. So they’ve taken their fees but I still can’t log on. 5 emails later, only 1 responded to which says ‘phone us ‘. Now on day 4 of making over 10 calls a day to try and speak to someone, phone rings out and then disconnects. Two emails to them saying please cancel and refund me - no response. Shocking service.
Edit: the email address you have provided is not accepting incoming emails. Please could you provide an alternative email address as I still can’t get through on the phone.
