A 5-Month Nightmare: Repeated Failures, Legal Negligence, and Professional Incompetence
I am writing this review to document a staggering series of service failures by Currys Norwich and their logistics partner, DPD. What began as a simple laptop purchase for my Engineering T Level course has devolved into a months-long ordeal involving technical incompetence, misinformation, and a blatant disregard for the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
The Laptop Repair Fiasco:
At the start of the academic year, I purchased a laptop essential for my engineering studies. Within five months, the device developed severe power management issues. I was initially told a repair would take 10 days—a significant timeframe for a student, yet I waited. The laptop was returned "fixed," only to fail again on the second day. This cycle repeated itself.
When I invoked my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, requesting a replacement after the first failed repair, I was misled by the Norwich store staff. They claimed the device was being sent for an "assessment," but I later discovered they had bypassed this and sent it straight for another unauthorized repair against my express written instructions.
The Executive Team Intervention:
Only after escalating the matter to the CEO’s office did I receive any real assistance. By this time, I had been without my essential educational tools for 44 days, leading to trouble at my college and significant stress. Even then, the store's solution to a hardware fault was to "disable the lid sensor"—a software "fix" for a physical defect that showed a complete lack of technical integrity.
The DPD and Delivery Disaster:
As a "goodwill gesture" for my 44-day struggle, I was given a £40 voucher. I used this (plus an additional £50 of my own money) to buy a keyboard with next-day delivery. What followed was a masterclass in poor logistics:
Failed Deliveries: Despite my parents and I waiting in the garden, the driver repeatedly claimed "missed deliveries" or went to the wrong addresses.
Unprofessional Conduct: When the driver finally arrived, he was physically aggressive toward my small pet dog, using my parcel to push him away instead of allowing my mother to secure the animal.
Broken Promises: Customer service promised a new product would be dispatched if Tuesday's delivery failed. When I followed this up, I was essentially called a liar and told no such promise existed.
Legal and Ethical Failures:
The most concerning part of this experience is Currys' attitude toward the law. When requesting a refund for the never-delivered keyboard, I was told I must wait 7–14 days for it to reach their warehouse. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the product is still under their (and DPD's) control as it was never delivered to me. Currys' insistence that their "internal policy" overrides national consumer law is not only incorrect but legally questionable.
Conclusion:
I have made over 16 phone calls and spent months fighting for basic service. As an engineering student, the loss of time and resources is immeasurable. Currys has proven that they struggle to honor warranties, respect consumer law, or manage their third-party couriers.
If you are a student or a professional relying on your equipment, be warned: Currys' "internal policies" appear to matter more to them than the law or their customers' education.

From walking in the front door, asking someone to help with their Sony tvs and soundbars and having it delivered, set up and working within a few days is pretty impressive especially when my model wasn't even in stock.
So hats off to Sharon on the shopfloor and the two delivery drivers / installers.
Definitely worthy of note.

Easy to order online but ignored in store
It was very easy to order online and collect in store. The only issue I have is that the day I decided to order online, I had gone in to the store to do some research with the intention of ordering in store. After spending an hour looking at different models, not one member of staff approached me or asked if I needed any assistance. There were plenty of staff around, just no one interested in making a sale which is why I ordered online
