Buying my first car

Buying my first car, got paired with Lewis W who was very helpful and friendly, and explained the whole process well. Kept in contact throughout the process of fixing it all up and conducted the handover efficiently. Very happy

I would avoid this dealership…

I would avoid this dealership completely based on my experience.

From the day I collected the car it had multiple issues. The tyre pressure light came on immediately, the windscreen washers didn’t work, and the battery/electrical fault meant the car kept dying and was unreliable.

They first tried to “fix” it with just a new battery, but the problem came back a week later and the car became unusable. It then spent nearly a month back with them.

During this time I had to pay around £300 for temporary insurance and taxis before they finally agreed to provide a courtesy car.

The car also had over 1,000 more miles than advertised when I bought it.

Communication throughout was poor. On one occasion they told me the car was ready to collect, so I travelled down, only to be told there had been a “miscommunication” and it wasn’t ready at all, completely wasting my time. I later found out they had damaged a tyre and it still needed replacing.

Even basic jobs weren’t done properly. I had to ask THREE separate times for the windscreen washers to be fixed. If I hadn’t chased them again by text, I would have collected the car and it still wouldn’t have been repaired.

What really concerned me was how they looked after the vehicle while it was in their care. When I visited, it had been left outside with a flat battery and the windows partially down for days in heavy rain. Anyone familiar with frameless windows knows they drop when the battery dies. It would have taken 5 minutes to jump start it and close them, but instead it was left exposed to the weather.

When I finally collected the car, it was returned in worse condition. One of the alloys had clearly been kerbed and scratched during a tyre change and had been poorly touched up with black paint to try and hide it. The salesman initially denied the damage to my face until a manager inspected it and agreed it would need sorting.

I was also told I would receive a full tank of fuel as goodwill for the wasted trip, but this wasn’t honoured and only around £40 was put in. To top it off, rubbish (including a cigarette butt left in a bottle) had been left inside the car.

Overall the whole experience has been stressful and very unprofessional — poor preparation, poor communication, careless handling of the vehicle and denial of responsibility when issues were raised.

I wouldn’t trust them with my car again and definitely wouldn’t recommend buying from them.

Hi Niall, thank you for taking the time to leave this review, and I’m genuinely sorry to read about your experience. This isn’t the standard we expect at Dace Car Supermarket, and we completely understand how stressful and inconvenient this must have been. We’d really like the opportunity to investigate this properly and review the full timeline.
Please could you give me a call on 0161 477 7056. Many thanks, Harley.

Excellent Customer Service from Dylan at the Stockport Branch

Although we didn’t end up purchasing a car from Dace, it was no fault of the excellent customer service and attention to detail from Dylan at the Stockport site, the Salesman who dealt with us. He was patient, very considerate of our needs, allowing us time to browse all the cars we were interested in, in a leisurely and pressure free fashion and, despite my test drive nerves, having never driven an automatic, he put me at ease and at no point did I feel rushed or judged. We were only at the beginning of our car search journey, hence our non-purchase as of yet, but having spent time with Dylan assisting us along the way, and ready to answer any and all of our questions, we have narrowed our search down to a specific make and model, and this in itself made the time spent at Dace invaluable.
Thank you Dylan, you are a credit to the company. Our journey continues and if Dace finds a car that matches our requirements we will not hesitate to return.

Purchase process was easy and quick…

Purchase process was easy and quick with no hard sell. The reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because of an issue we had 1 day after buying the car. My daughter was driving when the tyre pressure sensor light came on. I’ve always used the metal plate on the door pillar to see what the tyre pressures should be. My daughter proceeded to add air to the tyres but the tyres were not original to the car and it would have meant putting an additional 8 psi into the fronts if she had carried without ringing me. For me this is a potential safety issue. I’m just annoyed that it wasn’t pointed out during the sale. There is no customer service email address so I sent an email about it to the sales email but didn’t get a reply which I thought was poor. The pressure light is easily turned of but hopefully it will not keep coming on when only 2 psi is lost.

Thank you for your feedback. Firstly, we are happy to hear you have been pleased with our sales process and the experience not feeling pushy. We have been established for more than 32 years and we do pride ourselves on our customer experience. I am sorry to hear the vehicle has suffered a loss of pressure soon after taking delivery. We have a dedicated service team on site so if you would like to call us at your convenience we’d be happy to advise on the correct pressures for the car.

Won’t be using this company ever again

Won’t be using this company ever again, brought a Range Rover sport with 47000 miles on when I got the car it had 49000 on it. This must be a tactic to pay for the work they had to do on the car before the sale. And I appreciate buying a used car it will come with imperfections and scratched, however the scratches are covered up with a thick black paint that’s raised and looks horrendous.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The vehicle was delivered to you in May, and until now we have not received any correspondence from you regarding these concerns. The vehicle was purchased under the terms of a distance sale contract, as part of which all customers are required to sign a confirmation letter stating they are satisfied with the vehicle’s condition upon delivery. In addition, not only did we send you a full detailed video of the vehicle before purchase but a handover checklist was provided at the time of delivery, allowing you the opportunity to inspect all aspects of the vehicle, including the bodywork, before acceptance. At no point during this process was the paintwork raised as a concern. Had any issues been identified at the time, we would have had the opportunity to address them accordingly. As part of our standard preparation procedures, all vehicles are thoroughly test-driven. In this instance, the vehicle was also driven to the South Coast, which accounts for the additional mileage recorded. We wish you well with your new car all the same.

10/10 service from Dace and Lewis W.

10/10 service from Dace, experience was made better by Lewis W. Gave me time and patience when comparing cars on my shortlist, test driving, price comparison and considering pros and cons of my options. The finance plans are very transparent and very reasonable - no hidden costs or fees to pay and to top it off the customer service was 10/10 from Lewis! If you’re looking for a new car, he’s your man!
