Amazing Support After a Broken Ankle in the Red Sea

I recently experienced a small accident in the Red Sea where I broke my ankle after leaving the water. I called DAN Europe as soon as was possible, and their response was nothing short of exceptional. From the very first call, they handled my case with incredible efficiency and kept us in constant contact, offering clear advice every step of the way.

Their medical team quickly assessed my situation after receiving the diagnosis from the hospital in Hurghada. Based on their evaluation, they determined that I was fit to fly and promptly arranged our flights to bring us back home. Their ability to coordinate this so smoothly during a stressful time gave us immense peace of mind.

I cannot recommend DAN Europe enough. Their professionalism, prompt response, politeness, and genuine care made a difficult situation manageable. Having this level of support is invaluable.

DAN saved me

I found myself in a very serious situation, unremarkable dives and profiles well within correct parameters but somehow I manage to pick up DCS across a few dives and I only came to the conclusion a few days later. There was absolutely no hesitation from DAN to admit me And support the hyperbaric treatment which has ultimately given me the best chance of a full recovery. The communication between DAN and my Hospital was outstanding and there was immediate responses whenever questions were asked by my Hospital or myself directly. There was tremendous empathy and understanding I didn’t feel like I was being challenged to prove my need in anyway And after four days in the hospital I walked away with a clear path to a full recovery. There was no BS everything was factual and delivered in a way that allowed me to make the right decisions and have the same expectations along the way. If you are a Diver and you do not have Insurance you are out of your Mind. It’s not just about the money it’s also about having the expertise and the right advice because you may find yourself in some remote Hospital that has absolutely no idea about Dive medicine. You want these guys on your side and whatever it costs to obtain the insurance is a very small price in the Big scheme of things. I cannot thank the team enough for the support I received this week and I will never be without this Insurance.

A great interaction

My wife had an accident in our dive in Maldives.
Tried to assist but everything went wrong (long story) and we had a rapid ascent from 15 meters.
Dive was difficult with strong current and had so bad ending

In my 27 years as a diver I did not even have a minor incident but I guess there is a time for everyone.

I was impressed with Dan's response.
I emailed them to ask for advise we both had minor symptoms and they called me back.

Tried to connect me with a doctor in my country.
When this wasn't possible they passed the call to a doctor speaking English

It may sound silly but made huge difference in my psychology to have a such immediate response.
The story ended very well as we didn't even needed treatment and I hope I won't have to bother these guys again and let them continue their studies to make our dives safer.

Excellent support abroad (Sharm)

Excellent experience.
I tried it a few days ago in Sharm due to a minor issue (bronchitis during my diving month), which resolved perfectly in few days and allowed me to happily complete my remaining dives.
Being in a foreign country (Egypt), the support in my language (Italian - just a couple of phone calls that sorted everything out) was fantastic.

I was stung by a stingray with various complications - toxicity, infection, minor surgery.

I thought that DAN were very much on the ball, obviously just my experience but informed by my surgeon at the hospital also thinking that the whole process had been well handled.

World Class Company

For the price and compared to a lot of insurances DAN stands out for me above all. I already had DCS symptoms and was in the hospital when I contacted them via Internet calling (something that a lot of companies don't offer). They immediately had me talk to one of their dive professional doctors and later on an ENT specialist. Despite me not contacting them until I was already at the hospital they moved quickly. Later I had to go into a hyperbaric chamber and the bill wait sorted before I even left the hospital. The team was friendly, courteous, and professional. They really a standout company and I wish that there were more companies like them.

Emergency in Indonesia - DAN hotline interaction

My interactions with the hotline operator, Cecilia, were best in class. She was attentive to my needs and action oriented. She arranged a seamless handover to her colleague, who was then able to send the hospital the GoP to release me. I couldn't be more impressed with the level of service I received from the whole DAN team. You are the best!

World class support.

The care, support and treatment that was provided to me by DAN was outstanding.
DAN liaised with the Hyperbaric Dr's and staff at the chamber, I had assessments, chest x-ray, full blood test and was in the chamber within hours of arrival at the hospital. DAN increased the level of HBOT originally prescribed by the Hyperbaric doctors and I certainly felt that I was in very good hands and receiving the best care possible.
DAN contacted me frequently after my HBOT enquiring how I was feeling,
when I said I was still not good, their diving physician telephoned me and arranged further treatment for the next morning.
The whole process was very easy for me at a potentially very stressful time.
The support I received was highly efficient and provided in a very timely and caring manner.
I cannot praise or thank DAN enough for providing a fantastic personal and compassionate service.

Best diving insurance product you can have

Incredible team experienced in supporting divers. They will calmly work with you and your medical team to arrange and authorise any support or treatment you require and will stay with you throughout the journey, frequently checking in case you need further support. They have on-call doctors specialising in diving medicine who are ready to answer all of your questions around the clock and provide advice on best course of action. Really the only serious diving insurance you could possibly have.

Great assitance and coverage

DAN communicated with the hyperbaric chamber physician and operators when I had dcs on a dive vacation. They made it easy to get treatment. They checked up on me afterwards to verify my recovery was progressing. I told them it was progressing very slowly and they helped guide me through a series of doctors and tests and an easy manner. They left me with a strong impression of caring for the human, which you don't find with insurance companies.

incredibly good backup!
They call and are really eager to help and they let me speak to a person in my own language who was very professional.
My second conversation with them was regarding a more serious diagnosis and I had questions regarding future diving, although they cannot say for sure that I can dive again, I am happy with the very professional and interesting answer and that they offer further discussion if I needed.

I broke my heel in an accident in…

I broke my heel in an accident in Indonesia, and had DAN's additional travel cover. Medical expenses were reiumbursed with no hassle or negotiating, and I was flown back immediately after receiving a doctor's note, with the flight paid in advance and airport assistance arranged. All the customer service was friendly, clear and quick. It was really valuable to have this seamless support at a very stressful time... which other companies, in my experience, make even worse to avoid paying out at all the costs. DAN was great, easy to contact and quick to help. Can't recommend it enough and although I hope never to need it again, I'll definitely renew my policy every year!

I highly recommend DAN as your insurance. As most people I got this insurance hoping I would never need to use it. When I actually needed it in an emergency I was very positively surprised.

Dive incident - Dan no help whatsoever …

I had a diving incident in the Philippines
Here I lay in a hospital bed awaiting Dan to approve tests for lung expansion and possible further damage.
I am here in the hospital bed 3 hours now
Just to explain what happened so far..
Started the contact with them and it seemed quick, they had a doctor call me telling me I need urgent tests
Then they told me to call my travel insurance to let them handle it. I told them they don’t support dive incidents and that’s why I paid for Dan gold package. After this,I had no idea where to go for the doctors tests I asked where do I go for them, and they had no idea
I had to search around for a hospital ready to make these tests
The initial hospital chosen was closed for reforms, so I asked the hotel owner which hospital is able to treat such injuries, he suggested a hospital in Manila, I called Dan and confirmed I would go there
4 hours journey, I arrive, doctors worried to start tests, and Dan tell me they never approved this hospital (even though they did on loadspeaker) and still 3 hours later they have not approved the tests

I have received offensive emails from some staff there and am still laying here in the hospital without care, the last one stated :we cannot replace the "emergency services".

An absolute disgrace
