My Premium subscription ended today
My Premium subscription ended today, and I didn’t receive any notification or warning beforehand. From one moment to the next, my password access was simply cut off. Unbelievably unprofessional behavior.
Unauthorized auto-renewal, refused refund, ignores BC consumer protection law
I've been a paying Dashlane customer and was generally satisfied with the product -- until renewal time revealed how this company actually treats its customers.
On March 8, 2026, I received a renewal reminder for my annual plan -- exactly 30 days before the April 8 renewal date. The email was vague: no mention of my right to cancel, no cancellation instructions, and no clear statement about what would happen if I didn't act. On April 6 -- two full days before the renewal -- I submitted a cancellation request through their support system.
Dashlane refused. They charged me for a full year anyway, claiming their terms require 30 days' notice. When I pointed out that British Columbia's Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (BPCPA) requires proper renewal notices with prescribed content -- including cancellation rights and instructions -- they dismissed it entirely. Their support team went so far as to claim that BC consumer protection law "only applies to personal accounts, not business accounts." That is flatly wrong. The BPCPA does not exclude small businesses from its protections.
Under BC law (BPCPA, Sections 19 and 23), a future performance contract -- which is exactly what an annual software subscription is -- must include proper disclosure of cancellation rights. If those disclosures are missing, consumers can cancel up to one year after the contract was entered and are entitled to a full refund within 15 days. Furthermore, BC's Bill 4 amendments (royal assent March 31, 2025) specifically target subscription contracts with automatic renewals, requiring 30-60 days' notice with prescribed content including cancellation rights and instructions, and the right to cancel without penalty.
I've filed a formal complaint with Consumer Protection BC and initiated a credit card chargeback. I'm sharing this publicly so other Canadian businesses and consumers are aware of Dashlane's practices.
Bottom line: Dashlane makes it easy to sign up and nearly impossible to leave. Their renewal notice is designed to look compliant while omitting the information you actually need to exercise your rights. If you're in BC or anywhere in Canada, be very careful with auto-renewing subscriptions from this company. Cancel well in advance -- or better yet, consider an alternative provider that respects consumer rights.
Save yourself money and time and Do Not trust this app
I have used Dashlane and paid for the premium version of the app for the past several years. I would give it an average rating as it mostly worked, but lacked real support if anything ever went wrong, and there were several instances when it did. In March 2026 I changed from windows laptop to iPad Pro and the majority of my 427 passwords started autofilling incorrectly. The “support” appeared to be assisting me in figuring out the problem, but that appeared to be fraudulent as they never did and I went back and forth with them for 2 weeks. I gave up and deleted the account and no longer use them. I am having to click “ forgot password “ for 95% of my passwords. Occasionally one will randomly autofill correctly, but I struggled with everything financially related as they were recognizing as “fraud” so I spent hours on the phone trying to explain and to be able to access my accounts. I have tried to leave reviews on the Apple Store, but they never get posted and all of the reviews shown are glowing reviews about how wonderful Dashlane app is. Obviously the reviews are bot and not real.

Trying to delete my account after the trial and can't get to the steps described in their help article because I am being prompted to buy premium. Nice one. So I thought to get help from the support centre in the chat. Turns out the chat is only for premium customers. This is going to my lawyer.

Need a Refund / No one to contact
Dashlane worked for me for a while, but I replaced it appx six months ago. I had cancelled the automatic renewal more than 30 days ago, as they request, and it renewed anyway so I have one-year annual fee charged to me.
At this time I cannot contact anyone to give me a refund because the BOT says refunds can be processed for active plans, and my plan is not active.
The BOT SAYS:
"If you’re on an active plan or trial, the chatbot can connect you with an agent. Otherwise, agent access is available only in specific circumstances."
BOT won't assist and there is no phone number available to contact a real person. Now I need a refund and there is no one to contact.
I stopped used Dashlane years ago
I stopped used Dashlane years ago. I habe over 10 attempts tried to make them stop sending me emails. And at least 20 times I have gotten your dashlane account has been deleted. This is a spam company who never ever stop spamming you even after unsubscribe and sending them multiple messages.
Dashlane's autofill has stopped working…
Dashlane's autofill has stopped working in Chrome. The popup appears for a fraction of a second then vanishes before I can click anything. This affects all form types — logins, credit cards, addresses — everything.
I have already tried: clearing cache, reinstalling the extension, resetting Chrome to default settings, disabling Chrome's own autofill, and testing in Incognito mode. Nothing works. This started a few days ago and I did not change anything — so a Dashlane or Chrome update appears to have broken it.
I am not alone in this. I am requesting a refund and a response that doesn't say it's my fault and I should spend another two hours trying to fix it

I tried off and on for almost a year to get my passwords transferred and never figured it out, and this is not free, so I just wanted to make sure they don’t renew my annual contract. It is not possible to cancel if you do not have a “Subscription” link, which I do not. I’ve written them asking for help and got nothing. I highly suggest you go with another service that doesn’t make it so difficult to cancel. My only choice at this point is to let American Express get my money back…
PAID £56.99 - ACCOUNT STILL EXPIRED - 5 DAYS, NO RESOLUTION
On 15th February, £56.99 was taken from my PayPal for my Dashlane Premium renewal. Despite the payment being successfully processed and confirmed by PayPal, Google and my bank account my Dashlane Premium account is showing as expired and I have no access to the premium features I have paid for.
Here is what makes this so extraordinary - when I try to log in, I get "YOUR PLAN HAS EXPIRED" with an option to buy Dashlane. I click it, select Premium at £56.99, and get the message "ERROR - YOU ARE ALREADY SUBSCRIBED TO DASHLANE PREMIUM." When I click Manage Subscriptions it clearly states: ACTIVE DASHLANE PREMIUM - NEXT PAYMENT £56.99 ON 15 FEB 2027.
Dashlane's own app confirms I am a paid subscriber until February 2027. Yet I cannot access my account.
I raised this on 16th February under ticket reference 2754524. Five days later I am still going in circles. Every customer service bot response asks for information and screenshots I have already provided multiple times. No human has taken ownership. No resolution has been offered.
I have been a Dashlane customer for 5 years. This is how a loyal paying customer gets treated - locked out of their own passwords with no way in and no meaningful support. I have emailed their legal department with zero response.
Password peace of mind has turned into a senseless round of talking to a brick wall. I am now pursuing a chargeback through my bank. Avoid until their customer service matches the price they charge.
Think twice before even clicking a link in an email sent by this company
I wasn't a dashlane user. Someone tried to share some info with me using dashlane. I received an email with a link to follow to access the info. The link asked me to create an account to proceed. I set a password. To access the account and shared info though, it wanted me to either install a mobile or web browser extension. I reviewed them, looking at the data policies and permissions etc. and decided that I didn't want to, so I didn't. Therefore, I was unable to use/access the service or the shared info. So far, ok. A week later, I received an email telling me that my free trial of their premium offering was ending and that I'd need to pay to keep using it. I did not know I was on such a trial. I wasn't using the service and did not want to use it. The email from them had no unsubscribe option. In small print, it also said "If you no longer use Dashlane and do not want to receive these emails, you must delete your account." I had no use for dashlane, a service I couldn't even log into, and wanted to delete the account, so I followed the link provided. It took me to a page requiring me to install an app or a web browser extension to proceed though, which I still didn't want to do. So I tried to contact them. This is made as difficult as feasibly possible. There's no direct contact mechanism. I had to go via help pages, which told me to go down the same route I had already tried for account deletion. I had to go via a chat bot, which told me to go via the same route I had already tried and was unable to tell me how I could delete the account without installing their app or browser extension. Eventually, the bot put me through to customer support by email, but not before requiring me to explain and summarise my request, which I already done, again. I received an email from customer support to the same email address. The customer service representative hadn't bothered reading the one sentence summary of my request, or the one sentence AI summary provided by their bot, and instead regurgitated the same unhelpful instructions from their website that force you to install an app or web browser extension as a pre-requisite for them deleting your account. So I had to explain again that I did not want to install their app or their web browser extension, and that I simply wanted them to delete the account since I wanted nothing to do with them. Over multiple emails, they refused, providing what in my view are irrelevant, inaccurate and disingenuous reasons for not being able to delete the account unless I first installed their app or their web browser extension. They told me that if I didn't install their app or browser extension, and therefore did not use the account, they would hold onto my account and data (and presumably keep sending my marketing emsils etc.) for 2 years before it would be deleted. This is not permitted under data protection regulations in my country. They have one month from the moment of an erasure request to deal with it, and I'm pretty sure the data protection regulator will take a dim view of a system that is designed such that people are forced to install an app or browser extension, with associated (negative) privacy and security implications, against their will as the only means of indicating their desire to not do business with dashlane.
Bad option for small businesses
Bad option for small businesses. They push you into an annual plan, if you downgrade seats you can't remove those seats without contacting support PLUS if you remove those seats mid-year they refuse to refund the difference (so you're paying for products not fulfilled). In addition to this, annual contract changes have to be made 30 days in advance of renewal, but they don't notify you of that. So if you do try to make changes to your plan close to the renewal date they force you into another 12 months.
All businesses, but small businesses in particular have constant changes in team sizes (up and down) and Dashlane's lack of flexibility has become a deal breaker.
In addition to this, the fact that you MUST remove seats 30 days in advance of renewal AND removed seats are not refunded on prorate, means quite literally if you follow their terms perfectly, you're going to end up paying for their product without fulfillment, which skirts the line of fraud.
The manager itself is secure and easy to use, but anytime they might be making less money, the product is exceedingly difficult to use. I will never use Dashlane again for any reason.
Job Title
Years ago when I started using Dashlane it was a good choice, it worked well in the then context of both a web and a desktop app, and with the various password dialogues that were in use at the time. Lulled into confidence with the product my digital identities were all locked down with crazy passwords that I had no hope of typing regularly! The problem is that the digital security industry has moved on and created a diverse range of ways of distracting you from what you are actually trying to achieve with a mix of complex additional login checks which - if that were not enough of a distraction - get interspersed with things trying to sell you stuff. Dashlane's attempts at continuing to 'fill in the forms' in this environment are slipping and sliding, and I have had to switch off the auto-login feature on most sites after being locked out (3 tries and you're dead) of a few sites where it threw in some content that annoyed the sites login mafia. I guess I'm just totally discouraged by how much harder it has become to do anything serious online recently.....
Goodbye Dashlane, Hello NordPass
Hi Dashlane. Bye Dashlane. Wow, woah! Why bye?
Firstly, I fell in love with Dashlane when I discovered it back in 2021. I remember signing up and seeing how generous it was towards free users — people who wanted to try the product before considering a subscription. And of course, I loved it. I decided to purchase Premium to gain access to more features, and because I wanted to support a company that cared. But now?
Once your Premium expires, you cannot, under any circumstances, see your passwords. What I mean by this is that it ultimately affects your ability to access your information. You cannot view your passwords. You cannot edit them. Essentially, the way I see Dashlane now is: “Oh, it’s you. You’ve been here for how long? Never mind, we don’t actually care. We cannot let you through until you pay up, seeing as your membership has expired. Alternatively, you can take your things with you and leave. Choose.”
You read that right. Dashlane ended its free plan on 16 September 2025. Instead, Dashlane gives you two options. Option one is to renew your membership. Option two is to export your data. That’s it.
So, what if someone urgently needed to access their accounts and was denied access because their Dashlane Premium just happened to expire on the same day? It’s not a common situation, right? Sure, it’s not common — but I believe that you should be able to, at the very least, view your information. No edits. No new entries. Just view it with our two eyes.
Please, let us look at our passwords. What if we need to get a code for the 2FA we set up using Dashlane? That’s a feature Dashlane has! And suddenly, it’s not accessible because our plan expired.
To whoever decided this, I hope you’re happy. I hope you stub your toe every time you wake up.
And just like that, I moved on to NordPass. This company has not failed me so far. So I’ll end with this: I will not, under ANY circumstances, use Dashlane unless they revert whatever they call this. Oh, you’ve been a long‑term paying member? They don’t care.
The average consumer does not have 60 USD to spend on a one‑year plan. Sure, it’s an amazing service — minus the paywall — you cannot deny that. And they’ve proved themselves to be reliable. Look at the stats; they’re ranked highly amongst other password managers. But again, why should I continue paying 59.99 USD for Dashlane’s one‑year plan when I can pay 41.12 USD for a two‑year plan with NordPass? And NordPass allows users to access their product as free, non‑paying members. Who the heck wants to stick around a company that keeps bumping their prices each year!?
Oh, I forgot about the tech support they offer. Yeah, what tech support? Haha... Funny.
Thank you Dashlane but yeah, nah.
I feel bad about Dashlane.
I've been using Dashlane for quite a while and I'm very satisfied. I've purchased an annual license, but now they've increased the price, and I feel that price doesn't suit my needs, so I won't be renewing. I'm unhappy with this price increase.
Locked out of Dashlane with a 100% correct master password — zero-knowledge UX failure
Dashlane locked me out despite using a correct master password. Email verification does NOT allow recovery without a recovery key — something Dashlane does a poor job of explaining. I was forced to export my vault from iOS, reset the account, and re-import everything. Zero-knowledge security is fine, but the recovery UX is punishing and misleading. Use with caution unless you’ve stored your recovery key offline.
No support
AThis company turly doesnt care about customers. I have been a customer for several years and it works most of the time. Now My browser extension has quit working and their AI Chatbot is not working. I did get a statement to pull up under support that said we care and we are kind and respectful to each other. Well when there is no way to reach them when you need support, they are not kind to customers.
Watch out for their renewal clause
We had a business account, tried to cancel the auto renewal 29 days before our renewal date and they won't let us out of our subscribtion until after it has renewed!
Highly recommend to avoid using Dashlane.
Secure and easy, but support urgently needed
I’ve just renewed my Dashlane subscription for another year. While Dashlane is very secure and easy to use on my devices, I was recently locked out of the web app and could not access my passwords. There was no effective password recovery process, and I was unable to reach a human support representative, even though I’d be happy to pay extra for that service. Other companies, such as Google and banks, provide ways to verify identities in lock-out situations and help users regain access—this would be a valuable addition to Dashlane. Overall, the app is excellent for security, but the support options leave users stranded when things go wrong.
Beware of Dashlane’s Misleading Subscription Practices
I strongly warn anyone considering Dashlane to think twice. My recent experience shows how underhanded and confusing their billing and upgrade system really is.
I upgraded from Premium to the Family plan during a Black Friday offer, but Dashlane failed to honour nearly 6 months of paid Premium time plus an additional 6-month referral bonus they had previously granted me. My correct Premium renewal date (21 May 2026) was confirmed in an email—but none of this time showed on my subscription page, and none of it was credited toward the Family plan.
The chatbot gave me generic, unhelpful automated answers and repeatedly redirected me in circles. When I eventually reached a human agent, I was told:
Unused paid Premium time would not be reinstated
Referral-earned time “cannot be converted”, despite being part of my subscription term
My remaining months were far less than stated, even though I had email proof
Nothing further could be offered, even though I had effectively lost the value of several months I had already paid for
The agent even admitted that the referral months are “saved in the background” but cannot be used unless I downgrade—something that was never disclosed before upgrading.
In short: Dashlane’s subscription system is opaque, misleading, and financially unfair. If you upgrade, you risk losing months of paid time, referral bonuses, and any leverage in resolving the issue.
I feel completely misled and regret trusting their upgrade process or their support.
paid for Dashlane Premium via Google…
paid for Dashlane Premium via Google Play (Revolut card). Suddenly got completely locked out of my account for days no access to any passwords, nothing.
Dashlane has zero phone support, zero live chat for locked-out users, and their support email is an unmonitored black hole that sends you an auto-reply telling you to talk to a chatbot.
The chatbot (Dashy) repeatedly refused to connect me to a human even though I’m a paying customer. Had to threaten chargeback with Revolut and Google Play multiple times before they finally let a real person help.
This is the worst customer experience I’ve ever had with any paid app. When you’re locked out of all your passwords, “talk to the bot” is not acceptable. Dangerous, stressful, and completely disrespectful to paying users.
Do NOT trust Dashlane with your passwords if you ever need fast human help because you won’t get it. Moving everything to another manager the second I regain access.
Absolutely furious. Avoid
