I returned to playing quite recently after many years of not performing. Steve Churchill was great, giving me lots of confidence around the performance side of music which enabled me to have more confidence when playing in public. Many thanks Steve.

I've been having singing lessons now with Simon for around two years. I an older lady who used to sing in choirs when younger and was feeling rather unconfident about coming back to singing; but Simon has really supported me to feel more confident. I love our lessons. We always have a laugh. And they are fun. And I have managed to perform at a couple of Derby School of Music concerts which have been wonderful to be part of and to listen to. Thank you!

I have been having singing lessons for a couple of years now, I have an amazing singing teacher, Marika.. she is super helpful and patient with her students including myself, working with her made a huge difference in my vocal ability and control. I have recently attended Derby arts festivals singing competition which I got 1st place in! Training with Marika made my vocal technique improve so much over these years. If you're thinking about taking singing lessons at this school, definitely recommend it!

Mark is a Superb Piano Teacher. My little girl has been having piano lessons just over half a year but has progressed from a beginner to be able to play simple tunes. She growing in confidence after each lesson and can’t wait for more lessons. Mark is very passionate about music and always offer loads of extra support. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to learn a musical instrument.

I have played guitar since the age of 13 but have always wanted to be able sing too, so in my 50’s I decided to contact Derby School Of Music.

When I explained my favourite genres I was placed with Simon as my singing teacher.

Simon explains technique in a way that is easy to understand and his teaching is relaxed and always accurate to the music. This means that progress is made each week without fail.

If there is an occasional week that you can’t attend the one to one class then a live online lesson is available with him which means that you do not have to miss a lesson and valuable practicing. In addition,

Simon is extremely encouraging, very dedicated and keen for you to achieve your singing goals.

My son Harry has attended guitar here for 7months now and has been working on basics but is already playing 2 songs at 70percent speed and learning a new one now through the RSL book for guitars he is making good progress thanks to the teacher Simon and is enjoying his experience in a no pressure but helpful teaching methods

Very happy with the progress I've made learning to play the guitar, all aspects of music are covered, not just twanging the strings to try and get a tune. The staff are friendly and patient and allow you to learn at your own pace.

Steve Churchill is a fantastic teacher. I have been with Steve for 18 months now and he has really helped me gain confidence in my playing ability.
He is soft and calm and the perfect teacher for somebody like me, his patience allows me to focus and get over the hurdle rather than being negative about mistakes.

Martyn is a fantastic teacher and as an adult beginner learning piano , I am thoroughly enjoying the learning methodology.

Superb Teachers. I have been having piano lessons for 3 years and have progressed from an absolute beginner to an advanced player with the help of my teacher Steve. All the teachers are really passionate about music and they offer loads of extra performance opportunities. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to learn a musical instrument
